I will restore

1 Now, I want to ask you something. Before coming here to church tonight, I kind of made an agreement with God. I said, "God, You help me. I want to do what Your will is, and maybe if You'll help me tonight I'll try something different in my prayer line, if You'll help me so I can reach some more people."
And then I fell on this thought, "Well, I believe I will speak to them just a little bit."
Now, I want you to pray. And I will use tonight and tomorrow night, if God willing, then Thursday night, go back into the regular service again. And I want to see if God... Now, I've put it before Him as a fleece like, for Here's what He told me when I asked Him. I got it wrote down right here what He said. In speaking to Him, I said, "How must I hold my meetings? Some says that I don't pray for enough people."
He said, "Just as you feel led." So that was ... see. "Just as you feel led." And I feel led tonight to do this, so that's why I'm doing it.

2 In Joel the first chapter, the 4th verse, I read this. Many of you Bible scholars now are familiar.
That which the palmerworm has left has the locust eaten; ... that which the locust has left has the cankerworm eaten; ... that which the cankerworm has left has the caterpillar eaten.
It goes on. Let's go over to about the 11th verse now. So we haven't got much time.
Be ye ashamed, O you husbandmen; howl, O ye vineyards, for the wheat and for the barley; because the harvest of the field is perished.
The vine is dried up, ... the ... tree languisheth; the pomegranate tree, the palm tree also, ... the apple tree, and all the other trees of the field, are withered: because joy is withered away from the sons of men.

Joel 1:4 That which the palmerworm hath left hath the locust eaten; and that which the locust hath left hath the cankerworm eaten; and that which the cankerworm hath left hath the caterpillar eaten.

Joel 1:11 Be ye ashamed, O ye husbandmen; howl, O ye vinedressers, for the wheat and for the barley; because the harvest of the field is perished.

Joel 1:12 The vine is dried up, and the fig tree languisheth; the pomegranate tree, the palm tree also, and the apple tree, even all the trees of the field, are withered: because joy is withered away from the sons of men.

3 The second chapter... That's a very dark verse. Chapter ... Joel speaking through inspiration telling about what the lands is eat up and the worms... One worm went through and the insect and eat up some things, and what he left another worm come through and eat what he left. Another worm come through and eat what he left. And the vines are all withered up and the pastures was all dried up and the cattle are dying. They both had to say that all the seeds under the clods are rotten. Looked like a hopeless case.
I was reading that tonight. Then I happened to read over in the second chapter while I was sitting in the room in prayer and reading. I read this in the 25th verse of the second chapter.
And I will restore to you the years that the locust has eaten, and the ... palmerworm, and my great army which I sent among you.
And ye shall eat with plenty, and be satisfied, and praise the name of the LORD ... God, that has dealt wondrously with you: and my people shall never be ashamed.

Joel 2:25 And I will restore to you the years that the locust hath eaten, the cankerworm, and the caterpillar, and the palmerworm, my great army which I sent among you.

Joel 2:26 And ye shall eat in plenty, and be satisfied, and praise the name of the LORD your God, that hath dealt wondrously with you: and my people shall never be ashamed.

4 Let's bow our heads just a moment. Now, Lord, I don't know what to say, in managing this meeting in this way. But I pray that You'll give me grace tonight. And give me favor with the Heavenly host and with this people that I might teach them of Thee. And now, Lord, I commit myself to Thee and ask that You'll bless. For I ask in Jesus' name. Amen.
I would like to ... being raised in a fundamental church, and I still believe in fundamental doctrine. But I think all things in the Bible, we should go back to the beginning in Genesis to pick it up. If you want to find anything that's going on today, if you'll go back to the beginning, Genesis means the beginning. It's the seed chapter of the Bible.
And now, in the beginning God made everything, and then everything evoluted from that one thing. For instance, recently standing up on a mountain looking down across the prairie, the difference how the trees varied. Up here there's hemlock, a little lower down there's spruce, fir, and then on down to pine, then into quaking aspen. From there you go on out into sage brush, then out into grass, then the desert.
Each one of those plants had a beginning. Now, look. Each one of those plants, if I could take it down, a layer by layer, I would come to one germ, a germ of life that made that plant. The same kind of a germ, or different nature. Everything after it's own kind. Bird after bird, dog, human, whatever it is after its kind.

5 And I take one tree, it raise up, drop off a few cones and another tree comes up from it, evoluting, right down. The human does the same thing, the animal the same way. The birds lay their eggs, and male and female and go on the same way they poll. The same way through flowers, through trees. But I take each tree back, everything, right back to the beginning where the first germ started. Then I'd be back in Genesis, wouldn't I?
Well, now, as the naturalists say today, and chronologists, many. They say that there's a great controlling Spirit somewhere. And it just said, "Let there be." And that was all there was to it. And it all created from a beginning of a spirit, or life. Now, that isn't intelligent.

6 Why did He say, "Let this one be a palm tree, and this one a apple tree, and this one a hickory tree, and that one a oak tree"? See? Everyone different from another. What did it? It shows that this great Being that spoke this into existence was not only a great Being, but it was an Intelligence. And It's the resource of all intelligence. It's God.
He said, "Let there be a palm tree." What difference is in a palm tree and a hickory tree now? See? Why, my they... The same as night and day. See, they never... If it'd just been something that just happened, everything would have been one tree. But to show how He made trees for different places shows there's an intelligence behind it that elected these things to be at certain places. Just like He elected...

7 God is a God of variety. And all Christianity is based upon the resurrection. If I drop this letter on the floor... Now, resurrection is not put this one in it's place, but resurrection is bring up, the same letter that went down, in it's place again. Is that right? Therefore, Christianity is based on resurrection that when we come back to this earth again, I won't be some kind of an angel with wings a flopping. I'll be a man just like I am now, resurrected.
And in the resurrection there'll be... We'll differ from one another. Some of us will be black-headed, some blondes, and some red-heads, and so forth. God is a God of variety. He doesn't make everything the same. He makes big mountains, and little mountains, and prairies, and lakes, and deserts, and He makes the big trees, and little trees, and white flowers, and blue flowers, and pink flowers. He's a God of variety. His beings are made up in a variety.

8 And then we were born on this earth and come up to the age of about twenty-two, or three, we was at our best. We were growing. Then the first thing you know wrinkles come in, gray hairs set in. Death has come in to take us out of this world. God ordained it so. But everything that death can do is separate us from this world. And in the resurrection when we return again we will be, not old no more, but young in that body forever and forever to live with God. That's right. I can prove that Scripturally on another text a little later on about Abraham and them, what we will be.
And every old person, no matter how old you are, if you're a Christian, and die in Christ Jesus, when your foot touches that blissful land, you'll turn back to a young man or woman again. I can prove that by the Scripture. What a thought! Why, let the Devil snort, and blow, and puff, and do all he wants to, it doesn't scare me a bit. I know what God has said, and I believe God's true. That's right.

9 Back in Genesis we realize that different things happened back there. Look here. For instance Babylon appeared first in Genesis. Now, we have to watch Babylon. It appears over here in the Bible again about the middle of the Old Testament, and then comes on over into Revelations for the last days, Babylon.
It begin first, was the Gates of God, it was called. Then it was called Babylon, confusion. It was founded by Nimrod who was the son of Ham. And there's where idolatry started first, and there's where idolatry ends up at, still in Babylon. It comes all the way through. Every tree, you must bring it up through the time, up through the Bible.
Now, let's go back to get the church. Amen. Now, I want you to notice at the very root of the plant. And now, if we can see what kind of seeds you've got in the field, you can find out what kind of crop you're going to have. Is that right, farmers? Find out what kind of seed you got. Well, let's go back into Genesis and find out where we're at.

10 Jesus said in Matthew the 13th chapter, "A sower went forth and sowed seeds." And He explained it that it was the earth. And the enemy came and sowed tares behind him, which was the Devil. And the husbandman, the preacher, said, "Let's pull them out, take them out."
He said, "No, no. Let them grow together." Now, watch. If a seed starts by the side of a weed, they grow. When the first shoots come forth, they come forth both ways and both of them grows to seed together. And we're always complaining about what the world, how wicked the world is, you forget to realize how more powerful the church is than it used to be. I don't mean to deafen you, but you control that up there, if you will.
I feel kind of religious right now, I really do. Oh, when I think that we're speaking on Eternal things, never perish.

Matthew 13:24 Another parable put he forth unto them, saying, The kingdom of heaven is likened unto a man which sowed good seed in his field:

Matthew 13:25 But while men slept, his enemy came and sowed tares among the wheat, and went his way.

Matthew 13:26 But when the blade was sprung up, and brought forth fruit, then appeared the tares also.

Matthew 13:27 So the servants of the householder came and said unto him, Sir, didst not thou sow good seed in thy field? from whence then hath it tares?

Matthew 13:28 He said unto them, An enemy hath done this. The servants said unto him, Wilt thou then that we go and gather them up?

Matthew 13:29 But he said, Nay; lest while ye gather up the tares, ye root up also the wheat with them.

Matthew 13:30 Let both grow together until the harvest: and in the time of harvest I will say to the reapers, Gather ye together first the tares, and bind them in bundles to burn them: but gather the wheat into my barn.

11 Watch these human beings. The first two mortals to come out of the Garden of Eden, Adam and Eve, they begot two sons. One, Ham or beg your pardon, one Cain, and one Abel. I can see all that great eternity face down, when the time come when they was taken from the Garden of Eden, drove out to shift for themselves.
There was two boys, both from the same mother, same father. And then when they was... Both of them wanted to find favor with God. Now, I believe that the Angel guarded the Tree of Life. And that Tree of Life was Christ, of course. The tree of death was the woman. Through birth of a woman we all die. Through birth of Christ we all live. It's just as simple as anything. But there was that... Now, I have my thought of what sin was and what the first sin was. If I'd tell you, you'd disagree with me so I'll just keep it to myself.

12 Anyhow, when the Angel began to throw His flaming sword out to guard this Tree of Life... Now, watch. Cain and Abel both come to find favor with God. Amen. Now, look. Cain was a long ways from being a communist, neither was he an atheist. But Cain was a believer. Get on your shock-proof vests now. Cain was a believer and a worshiper of God. If God only required a believer, Cain was just as just as Abel was. And God would be unjust if He condemned Cain for his faith in Him and accepted Abel, if faith was all He required. All right.
But Cain came and offered a sacrifice. Now, look. Cain built an altar, a church. Cain made a sacrifice, the same as Abel did. And Cain worshipped. He never come as an unbeliever. He come as a believer. He raised up his hands and worshipped God just the same as Abel did. Well, if a church membership, an altar, a worship, a sacrifice, is all God requires then Cain was just as just as Abel was.

13 If you belong to church and go to church, got your name on a church book, a good tithe payer, a worshiper, sincerity, that still isn't it. That's right. And I don't want to hurt you, but I've got to stand before judgment with you. God requires more than that. And Cain was just as just on it as Abel was if that's all God requires.
Now, I want you to notice. Cain built his big, fine altar. I can imagine him being a tiller of the soil, filled it full of Easter flowers, and everything, and made it beautiful. He was the nature of Satan. Today we have chimes on the churches, and plush pews, and everything else, trying to find favor with God and that's not God's way of finding favor.
Every Easter you go to church and they bid you Merry Christmas because they won't see you anymore till Christmas. Come to Easter to show off a new hat or a new bonnet or a new suit of clothes, bring up a big armful of Easter flowers and throw them on the altar. God don't want Easter flowers on the altar. He wants you on the altar. You're the one belongs on the altar.

14 But, see how we got away? No wonder we can't believe for divine healing. You got the cart before the horse. You got to get the thing running right before you can believe right. You got to get this right up here, and right down here, before you can see right. You got to have something in here to believe with before you can believe.
Sons and daughters of God are born of the Spirit of God and God a Spirit, who just spoke the world into existence. And the very earth that you're sitting on tonight was the Word of God materialized. And a man that's born of that same Spirit believes God can do all things, and believes Him for all things. But if you're not born of the Spirit of God, you can't believe it because you're earthly yet. And you're still trying to build a fine church, and put a choir in it and the angelic voices and things like that in it. That don't please God. Cain in the beginning would have been accepted if it was.

15 But Cain laid his sacrifice down. He knelt down on his knees, and he raised up his hands. I can hear his beautiful prayer, just how he rhymed it out just so in order and everything to try to find favor with Jehovah. "Here is the works that I have brought and laid down. I've built this church. I've done these things. I've worked hard and here's a part of what I've got. I laid here. I offer to You, Jehovah. Can I find favor?" Wasn't an infidel. He was a fundamentalist. He was just as fundamental as the other fellow was.
But God through election... Amen. That shakes you down a little bit because I'm speaking to a half Armin... a half a group of Arminians here. But look. It was through election that God called Abel and had recompense to the reward.

16 And Abel come, not nothing beautiful. He had a little old lamb out of the flock. He didn't work up. He didn't do something another. He didn't try to make big, fine churches. He didn't build this, that, and the other. He just went out there and wrapped a grapevine around a lamb's neck and come pulling it. I don't guess they had any hemp in that day, rope. So they just come with a grapevine pulling a little old lamb.
What a sight! Picked him up and laid him up on the rock. I don't guess they had a lance in that day, so they just took a sharp rock, pulled his little head back and began to beat him in the throat with it. What a sight! The blood began to sprinkle and bathe his little wool over like that, and the poor little thing dying, bleating. God looked down from Heaven and rewarded him.

17 What was it? Spiritually minded by election, knowing that the earthly things doesn't please God, he offered life and blood. What did it speak of? Come four thousand years to man, the Lamb of God, with a rope around His neck was led away to Calvary. There on the cross, the Rock of Ages bleeding, His wool, His hair dropping... Blood dropped onto His breast.
As Billy Sunday said, there was an Angel sitting in every tree saying, "Just pull Your hand loose. Point, we will change this thing here." But He was the Son of God.
And when he was dying, when this little lamb was dying, the lamb was speaking in another language, bleating, hollering. He couldn't get it. Course Adam ... Cain ... Abel couldn't understand it.

18 And when Jesus died on the cross, He was forsaken by men here on this earth. And He spoke in another language. When His locks was bathed, saying, "My God, why has Thou forsaken Me?" God's church, from that day to this, it's moved up them same seeds, coming right out, the same thing. Always through blood, through Spirit.
Oh, must I be carried Home to Heaven on a flowery bed of ease while others fought to win the prize and sailed through bloody seas.
When I think! There them trees... Watch them vines as they come up, brethren. In the ark... Wish we had time, but the clock's getting away. Looky here. In the ark there was a crow and a dove. And they both sat on the same roost. And one of them was of the antichrist, and the other one of the Christ. The only way you could judge them is by their nature, by their habits. The crow was willing to eat the old dead carcasses of the world, and stay out there, but the dove had to come back. Why? The dove didn't have no gall. Something had happened to him. He couldn't digest the old rotten things of the world.

Matthew 27:46 And about the ninth hour Jesus cried with a loud voice, saying, Eli, Eli, lama sabachthani? that is to say, My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me?

Mark 15:34 And at the ninth hour Jesus cried with a loud voice, saying, Eloi, Eloi, lama sabachthani? which is, being interpreted, My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me?

19 And so is it with every man that's born of the Spirit of God, that's elected, can't digest the things of the world. He'll come to the Father's faith. When he hears of an old-fashioned, Holy Ghost meeting, you couldn't tie him away if you had to. Right. Born of the Spirit of God.
A dove hasn't got no gall, no bitterness. He don't go around saying, "The days of miracles is past, and they didn't come through the right kind of a seminary or cemetery." It's all the same thing anyhow. I always felt sorry for a incubator chicken, just like I did a seminary preacher. A little old incubator chicken just chirp, chirp, chirp and ain't got no mammy to go to.
That's just about the way with a preacher hatched out by a machine, through theology. Right. Knows no more about God than a Hottentot does about a Egyptian night. Amen. Going to call me a holy-roller anyhow, so you might as well get started right now. All right. You say, "That's pretty strong for a Baptist." Well, I'm one Baptist that got the Holy Ghost. That's right.

20 Now, brother, its always been... Watch those vines. Jesus said, "Let them grow together." Now, I want you to notice another place. We could bring it to Esau and Jacob if you wanted to. Before either was born, God elected Jacob, by election. Romans 9 says so, that the election of God might stand sure.
Let's bring it on up a little farther. Let's take the children of Israel. Here's a good stopping place. Here comes the children of Israel coming up, God's son by election. Here he comes up, the church, that believed in the supernatural. God's church has always believed in the supernatural. And it's always got a fundamental church standing over here that believes just as fundamental as they do, but denies the supernatural. Right.
That's what's the matter today. We're having these revivals all over the country. It's nothing but protractive meetings. What we need today is not stand up and accept Christ as personal Saviour, but get down on your knees until you're filled with the Holy Ghost, God seals you into the kingdom of God. That's what the church needs today. You know that's the truth. That's the reason we just... Not shake hands or join a church or pack their paper from place to place. Get your name written in the Lamb's Book of Life, and it'll stay there forever. Amen. That's right.

Matthew 13:30 Let both grow together until the harvest: and in the time of harvest I will say to the reapers, Gather ye together first the tares, and bind them in bundles to burn them: but gather the wheat into my barn.

Romans 9:11 (For the children being not yet born, neither having done any good or evil, that the purpose of God according to election might stand, not of works, but of him that calleth;)

21 Here they was. On their journey up, I can see them having to cross through the land of Moab. Now, Moab was a long ways from being an infidel. He was a fundamentalist. That was Lot's daughter's son, where the tribe of Moab sprung from. Here come his foster brother, Israel coming up. And this king, Balak, went and hired Balaam to come out and curse this people. Could you imagine? Trying to curse a believer.
Watch Balak, that backslidden prophet. God took an old mule and spoke in tongues to him, and rebuked him. That's right. The Bible said so. He has done everything to try to turn them people around. Looks like they can't listen. All right.

Numbers 22:5 He sent messengers therefore unto Balaam the son of Beor to Pethor, which is by the river of the land of the children of his people, to call him, saying, Behold, there is a people come out from Egypt: behold, they cover the face of the earth, and they abide over against me:

Numbers 22:6 Come now therefore, I pray thee, curse me this people; for they are too mighty for me: peradventure I shall prevail, that we may smite them, and that I may drive them out of the land: for I wot that he whom thou blessest is blessed, and he whom thou cursest is cursed.

Numbers 22:28 And the LORD opened the mouth of the ass, and she said unto Balaam, What have I done unto thee, that thou hast smitten me these three times?

22 But remember he was fundamental. You say, "Oh, Brother Branham, ridiculous." All right. Just a minute and see if this is true or not. Watch the Word of God, if you can take it. All right.
Then here comes Balaam out. He made his sacrifice. Watch. He built seven altars. Talk about being fundamental. Brother, he was Presbyterian to the core. He built seven altars. And he offered seven clean bullocks on it, clean sacrifice. Is that right? And not only that, but he offered seven rams, speaking of Jesus Christ coming. Is that right? The Lamb, the Ram of God, takes away the sin of the world. The same offerings that they was offering right down there in Israel. Is that right? The same offering that was offered here.

Numbers 23:1 And Balaam said unto Balak, Build me here seven altars, and prepare me here seven oxen and seven rams.

23 Now, look. If you want to stay fundamentally, then Balaam and Balak... And he gutted out all of the brain of the country, all the PhD's and DD's and LLD's and he gathered them all around the smoldering sacrifice. They'd offer sacrifice. And they all stood there with their heads bowed, praying. And, look. Fundamentally speaking, they were offering the same offering that was coming up right down there in Israel.
Now, fundamentally they were both right, correct. One was just as true as the other one. There was seven altars there, God's requirement, seven bullocks, and seven rams. There was a burning sacrifice there. It was a burning sacrifice here, and both praying to the same God.

24 If that ain't a picture of it today, I don't know why. Them fundamentalists, don't tie into one; he knows what he's talking about in the Word. I was raised a Baptist. Don't tie into him in the Word, He knows what he's talking about. But here's the difference, friends. Listen. Sit quiet now. Let your cup fill up.
Notice, but what was the difference, was here? Both of them fundamental, both of them just like Cain and Abel. That's that same vine coming up. But God was vindicating Israel with signs and wonders. Thy were a bunch of holy-rollers. You say, "Brother Branham, a holy-roller's Israel?" Yes, sir.
Brother, when they passed through the Red Sea, Moses sung in the Spirit, and Miriam got a tambourine and began to dance, and the daughters. If that ain't a Holy Ghost meeting, I never seen one. Sure they was a bunch of holy-rollers, but God was vindicating them by the supernatural signs and wonders. They had a pillar of fire, smitten rock, brazen serpent. Hallelujah! That's exactly the truth, my brother. That's why you can stand boldly when you know where you're standing. Right.

Exodus 15:20 And Miriam the prophetess, the sister of Aaron, took a timbrel in her hand; and all the women went out after her with timbrels and with dances.

25 Watch what He was. They had a pillar of fire hanging over them. Is that right? Sure they were fundamental in their doctrine, so were they. But God was vindicating them. And it's the same thing today. You might go to seminaries and learn this Bible every way you want to, but until you're born of the Holy Ghost, the power of God gets into your life, brother, you'll never believe signs and wonders and can't believe for divine healing and power. Can't do it.
What we need today is a good old-fashioned, sky-blue, sin-killing religion sweeping this country and an old-time Saint Paul's revival and the baptism of the Holy Ghost back in the church again. Amen. It's the best defense, better than any atom bomb was ever created. That's right. Fundamental, but God was vindicating His church.

26 And today, teachers can say, "I can prove to you by the Bible." That's true, but where's the signs at? That's the reason I stepped off the fundamental tree, over and become a holy roller. I seen the thing coming. I'm glad I'm over here. Right. Living amongst...
Oh, they had everything. Sure, they lived with one another's mothers. They done every ornery thing there was. And I want you to notice, that fundamental teacher up there was very nice to point that out to Balak, too. Said, "Bring them over here and I will show you the utmost parts." That's the way they do today to the Holy Ghost church, show the utmost parts, the rotten parts. We admit we got it, but you got it, too. But you can cover it up better. That's all. That's right. Don't tell me, I know Baptist preachers and Methodists, and all. They do just the same as them holy-roller preachers do. That's exactly. It's all human flesh, but let me tell you... But down there they could cover it up real well.

Numbers 22:41 And it came to pass on the morrow, that Balak took Balaam, and brought him up into the high places of Baal, that thence he might see the utmost part of the people.

27 But now, watch. Balak was good to show just the utmost parts. But I want you to notice what God told that old hypocrite when he come back. He said, "Don't you say nothing but what I put in your mouth." He said, "I beheld him from the hilltop." Hallelujah. "Not from the utmost parts, but from the hilltop. And I have not conceived the iniquity in Jacob." Hallelujah. Amen.
Why? There was a brazen serpent going before them. There was a pillar of fire. There was an atonement to take away that sin that [unclear words]. It was the election. God was going to take them through; yes or no. God give the covenant unconditional. "I will save Abraham and his seed." And you're the seed of Abraham by being dead in Christ, take on Abraham's seed and are heirs according to the promise. Amen. Say, I feel religious.

Numbers 22:35 And the angel of the LORD said unto Balaam, Go with the men: but only the word that I shall speak unto thee, that thou shalt speak. So Balaam went with the princes of Balak.

Numbers 23:21 He hath not beheld iniquity in Jacob, neither hath he seen perverseness in Israel: the LORD his God is with him, and the shout of a king is among them.

Galatians 3:29 And if ye be Christ's, then are ye Abraham's seed, and heirs according to the promise.

28 Look. Let me tell you. Here sometime ago last year... I love hunting. I was up in the hills a little while to hunt, up in Canada. I was coming down... I got lost out there in the wilderness one night, and I was coming back along on my horse. And I was trying to find my way back, no roads, eleven hundred miles from a hardtop road. No pass as far as game trails.
And I seen a sight that kind of reminded me of this Scripture, where it comes to me tonight. I come down through where there was an old burn over years ago. And this old burn over... There was a big bunch of old trees standing there, big old tall, stately pine trees. Once was great trees who stood in their kingly, priestly steps ... or, places. And the winds blew through them and they'd frolic with the wind

29 But a burn over had come, and it burnt all the bark off of them, all the life out of them. And they were standing there, and the moon was shining. You talk about a spooky looking place. And the first thing you know, the wind began to blow. And the wind went W-o-o-o-o. And that wind coming down through them trees sounds so mournful. My! W-o-o-o-o. And I thought, "Oh, mercy!"
And I stood there and I thought, "Lord, why'd I get lost today and why did You bring me into this woods?" And I thought, "Well, now let me study here just a minute. The moon's shining on them things, look like old tombstones." I thought, "Yes, Lord. I understand."

30 That puts me in the mind a bunch of these old cold, formal churches, standing up that wants to be one great big church. But what the palmerworm left, the caterpillar eaten. What the Methodist left, the Baptist eaten. What the Baptist left, the Presbyterian eaten, till they eat all the life out of the thing. And when God sends a big mighty rushing wind down, they just stand and go, "W-o-o-o-o. The days of miracles is past. No such a thing as divine healing. There's no such a thing as the power of the God. W-o-o-o-o." That's all they can do is moan and groan and take it on. Oh! Why? They haven't got any life in them.
Oh, doubtless they can say, "We're trees." Yes, sir. But you once was, what are you now? You Methodists that don't believe in divine healing...

31 When I stood under the shrine there where John Wesley preaching divine healing, they turned the foxhound loose and run his congregation out. He pointed his finger in the face of the man. Said, "The sun will not set on your head three times and you'll call me to pray for you." He died that evening with cramps.
When Wesley was over here, he was riding his horse to visit a woman, one day, and the horse fell and broke its leg. And Wesley got off the horse, pulled out the anointing oil, said, "Lord, You made this horse, the same as You made me." Poured oil upon him, anointed him with oil, got him and rode him away.

32 Why, Methodists, you was but you're dead now. Wait, I'm going to get to you Pentecost just a minute, too. All right. Right. What one left, the other one eaten. What this left, the other one eaten. What the palmerworm left, the caterpillar eaten. What the caterpillar left...
The first thing they began to have this and they, "Well, we will take that out." They went to the cemetery or seminary, all got a big education. They started teaching theology. And they have adopted theology, today, to take the place of the Holy Ghost, and that's the reason two-thirds of the world knows nothing about Christ. Amen.
What we need today, brother, is the Holy Ghost back in the church to lead the church. Amen. Yes, sir.

33 I stood and looked at them poor old trees all blistered there. That wind come down again. I thought, "God, what do You send a wind for? You hear them moan and groan?" And the winds blowed again, w-o-o-o-o. And they went, "M-m-m-m-m."
I said, "Sounds spooky like a lot of these DD's stand by and say, 'Oh, divine healing wasn't in the atonement and all that there nonsense of shouting and going on.'" Just what Joel said, "You've taken the joy from the sons of God." Amen. Restore that joy. God said He would do it. And I thought, "Lord, that's just about what Joel spoke of."

34 Then I happened to think of another Scripture. "But I will restore, saith the Lord." I thought, "Lord, what do You send the wind for," if said, "they're going to moan and howl and go on like that? If You send an old-fashioned, Pentecostal wind down like that fell on the day of Pentecost, what in the world do You send it for if they're just going to moan and refuse it and reject it?"
But I happened to notice. There come up some new undergrowth. [Gap in the audio]. When that wind hit them, they wasn't moaning and groaning. They were just flexible, and jumping, and rejoicing, and shouting, having an old-time Holy Ghost meeting. Why? They were flexible. They had life. They was moving with the wind, just rejoicing. They wasn't moaning about it. They were rejoicing, frolicking, jumping, having an old-time revival.

Joel 2:25 And I will restore to you the years that the locust hath eaten, the cankerworm, and the caterpillar, and the palmerworm, my great army which I sent among you.

35 I said, "Thank You, Lord. I'm glad I'm that backwash they call that." Hallelujah! Oh, my soul can stay clear with God. And when the Holy Ghost comes down, I won't moan and groan and take sides against it. I will agree with it, and frolic with it, and live with it, and speak with it, and sing with it, and shout with it, and die with it." Hallelujah!
Mighty rushing wind come from Heaven like a wind, filled all the house where they were sitting. All the fundamentals began to groan, but He had something coming up. "I will restore," saith the Lord.
Here comes some more pine trees coming up. They was ready to catch right into the wind, just frolic and having a good time. I said, "If that don't put me in mind of a good, old-fashioned, Holy Ghost meeting."

Acts 2:2 And suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled all the house where they were sitting.

36 And there stands them bunch of fellows out there moaning and groaning and saying, "Why we're older than you all are. We know more about it." Saying the doxology, and repeating the Apostles' Creed. Where do you ever find that I ... I challenge anybody to show me the Apostles' Creed in the Bible. The Apostles' Creed was "Repent every one of you, be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of your sins and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost for the promise is unto them." That's your Apostles' Creed. Yes, sir.
But today, people, "Oh, no. Our minister has a DD and he has a PhD." DD stands for "dead dog." Let me tell you, what we need today, is a man alive. We need some baptized saints of the Holy Ghost, men and women who believes in the power of God, who when the Holy Ghost falls will sway right into it and say, "Yes, Lord. Hallelujah! That means me."

Acts 2:38 Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.

Acts 2:39 For the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call.

37 The neighbors sit around, or mammy, or pappy, or whoever it is, say, "Why, you disgrace me!" You can't help it. You're alive. The wind just shakes you, and rolls, you back and forth, up and down and around and around. What a meeting. Amen.
Do you believe it? Sure. I had to get the Holy Ghost before this gift was manifested. That's right. Oh, yeah.
She's dead and dried up. That's right. And every time they start doing that, God sets them right on the shelf. In the Pentecostal churches, following right straight in line.
When God seen back there in the Old Testament... The first thing you know a pillar of fire went forth. Israel followed that pillar of fire. I say it reverently. I believe you got the picture of it on the paper tonight, same pillar of fire.
The Angel of God, the Angel of the Covenant...

Hebrews 13:8 Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever.

38 And any man knows that the Angel of the Covenant was Jesus Christ. That's right. The same yesterday, today, and forever. God unfolded Himself. That was God in that pillar of fire. He unfolded Himself down into a human body, virgin born. No man could touch Him there. You could see Him here, but He's a virgin born.
Now, He went away. "A little while and the world seeth Me no more, yet I will be with you, even in you." Same God living right down, unfolding Himself into the heart of man. Got down here where He could shake them and give them a rejoicing like Job did.
They said, "Brother Branham, that's that new kind of religion." Unh-uh. It's just a new case of the old-time. Old-time... Why, God asked Job, "Where was you when I laid the foundation of the world, when the morning stars sang together and the sons of God shouted for joy?" Before the foundation of the world was ever laid. Ain't nothing new, it's something old. It's the beginning.

Job 38:4 Where wast thou when I laid the foundations of the earth? declare, if thou hast understanding.

Job 38:7 When the morning stars sang together, and all the sons of God shouted for joy?

Matthew 28:20 Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen.

John 14:19 Yet a little while, and the world seeth me no more; but ye see me: because I live, ye shall live also.

39 Watch these fundamental now. Just a minute now, we will close if you look this way for a minute. Our time's getting away. I feel pretty good right at this time. I'm glad. I'm glad, so happy that I seen these trees. And I seen the One that God was vindicating. I don't care how fundamental this was. I seen here where God was making His signs and wonders of vindication.
When Jesus come on earth, who was anymore fundamental than those priests was? Brother, they knowed the law to the letter and they knowed the Scripture to the letter. But God vindicated Jesus Christ by signs and wonders. "Ye men of Israel, Jesus Christ a man approved among you by signs and wonders which God did by Him in the midst of you all where you all know yourselves." Acts 2:24. That's right.
God vindicated Jesus Christ by signs and wonders. He vindicated Israel by supernatural signs and wonders. He vindicated His church all the way through by signs and wonders. Watch here now in this last days. Watch Saint Paul. Listen. Look this way, every eye.

Acts 2:22 Ye men of Israel, hear these words; Jesus of Nazareth, a man approved of God among you by miracles and wonders and signs, which God did by him in the midst of you, as ye yourselves also know:

40 Look at Saint Paul when the Holy Ghost struck him there one day and he was writing. He said, "Know this, that in the last days, the end of time, the times would come when they'd be heady, high-minded, lovers of pleasure more than lovers of God, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, and despisers of those that are good."
Why, you say, "Brother Branham, that's atheists." Oh, no. That's fundamentalists. "Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away." We're living in that day, friend. We're living when just as fundamental, the church is fundamentally right. They've had seminaries and studied, and studied, Greek words, and this words, and that words. And what good does it do unless God's to back it up and say, "This is it." What good did it do Cain to do all of his religion and Balak all of his religion, when God was down here in this bunch of vindicated, with a bunch of holy-rollers?

2 Timothy 3:1 This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come.

2 Timothy 3:2 For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy,

2 Timothy 3:3 Without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good,

2 Timothy 3:4 Traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God;

2 Timothy 3:5 Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away.

41 And if Jesus was considered a holy-roller Himself. He died on the cross as a heretic. And the early church was considered a bunch of nitwits. Paul told a group, "In the way that's called heresy, so worship I the God of our fathers." I'm glad, tonight, to join with him and say, "In the way that's called holy-rollers, crazy, nonsense, idiotic worship. I will worship Jesus Christ in the power of His resurrection by the Holy Ghost." Amen.
I believe Him. And I know that He's here. And Christian friends, I'm not here to preach the Gospel. Brother Bosworth is here to do that. I'm here to pray for the sick. My calling is to pray for the sick. And I'm trying my best to get to you. I want you to know what I believe. And I believe the message. And in that you might call it heresy.

Acts 24:14 But this I confess unto thee, that after the way which they call heresy, so worship I the God of my fathers, believing all things which are written in the law and in the prophets:

42 When Doctor Davis had ordained me into the Baptist church. When he stood there a few nights, here some time ago in a religious meeting. He said, "Now, Brother Branham, I will have you to speak for us tonight." That did me good. When he told me, said... I went up to Green's Mill that night and when the Angel of the Lord appeared to me, and told me, He said... And I went and told the doctor.
He said, "You mean to tell me with your seventh grade education you're going to pray for potentates and monarchs?"
I said, "That's what He said and that's what I believe."
Then when he stood there and said, "Billy, you had a nightmare. Run back over home to your church, run back over home to your church."
I said, "Here's my fellowship card." I'll not join with nothing that denies the power of Jesus Christ in His resurrection.

43 Said, "Oh, we don't mean it that way, Billy." Only morals is what you put out of the Baptist church. I like it. I ain't got nothing against... I ain't got nothing against the people. It's the way you let yourself get so free. And that's the way today.
Doctor Volise just called me from down there, the big Baptist school, wants to come down. He just received the Holy Ghost up in my front room. Don Wells that wrote the great discrepancy in your magazine, "The Christian Herald," received the baptism of the Holy Ghost, spoke in tongues. Dr. Reedhead, the President of one of the associated, with the great Sudan Missions, the biggest Baptist movement there is, received the baptism of the Holy Ghost when I laid my hands on him, and spoke in tongues. Yes, sir. The archbishop of India, Doctor Palley which will be here sometime this week, if God willing. He's with Don now. Called the other day and say, "Come down, Brother Branham. Let's get together."
The move of God's on, I don't care what they say. Don Wells, and them, struck off to Billy Graham as hard as they could to get him to it. But Billy said he couldn't preach it. He believed it, but he couldn't preach it before the people.

44 Let me tell you something, brother. O God, I love Billy Graham and his work. I want to do everything I can. But, no wonder, that man has put forth every effort he can, I believe, and go. But what Billy lacks is an old-fashioned, Pentecostal experience to get back there and to bring God down in the power of His resurrection. Certainly.
I was going to it in the church. That's right. But I wouldn't sell my birthright for all the [unclear words] this world's got. I believe in the baptism of the Holy Ghost. I believe in the restoration of the gifts.
When Israel began to move, there was a pillar of fire. When that fire moved, Israel moved with it. If it was two o'clock in the morning, if it was five o'clock in the evening, whatever it was. The priest sounded the trumpet and away went the pillar of fire, and Israel moved and camped under the fire. Is that right?

45 Well, that fire was hid for a while through the dark ages. But the first one saw that pillar of fire was Martin Luther. He sounded the trumpet, and come out of the Catholic church. And the first thing you know, it caused a great universal revival. All right. Then the next thing you know, Martin Luther got to organizing. And he organized down so tight until the pillar of fire moved again, but Luther couldn't go because he was organized to pull a of bunch of doctrine. But the pillar of fire moved just the same.
John Wesley saw it in England and away he went. Justification that Luther preached by faith, and the first thing you know Wesley saw sanctification through the blood. And away he went, believing it. And the first thing you know, a great revival saved England and America when him and Asbury and all of them come here to America, great revival swept the land. The pillar of fire moved. Then the first thing you know, Wesley began to organize, the Wesleyan Methodist church and the church. He got so organized, after a while, away went the pillar of fire again out of the Wesleyan church and Wesley couldn't move because he was organized.

46 I'm going to scorch you, brother. Look. Not me, but the Holy Spirit. Notice. And Wesley couldn't move because he was organized.
The Pentecostal people saw it and away they went. That's right. Right out under that pillar of fire they went shouting, speaking in tongues and having a great time. Is that right? But brother, the sad part's, the Pentecosts has organized now. It's so tight. "Well, now, I belong to the Assemblies and I belong to this." And you're organized so tight. And God's moving the pillar of fire right out again. Hallelujah! And the church is going after it. Hallelujah. Signs, wonders and miracles.
I feel like traveling on,
I feel like traveling on;
My heavenly home is bright and fair,
And I feel like traveling on. Amen.

47 Don't get scared. Amen means "so be it." That won't hurt you. I'm not amening myself, but I just like to say it anyhow. All right. Well, I'm amening myself then 'cause I believe it. Yes, sir.
"... form of godliness, denying the power thereof." Now the signs and wonders is setting in. A little bunch of corruption raised up. First thing you know, they... What is it? Then what Luther left, the Wesley eaten. What the Wesley left, Baptist eaten. What Baptists left, Campbellites eaten. What Campbellites left, Pentecost eaten. Oh, my!

2 Timothy 3:5 Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away.

48 But Lord said, "I will restore." Hallelujah! Watch. Right back to the old-fashioned baptism of the Holy Ghost like fell on the day of Pentecost back yonder in the beginning. Yes, sir. And receive it. I'm so glad that it screamed for whosoever will, come today. If you're ready to forsake all your ungodliness and get out of them old picture shows, and low downs, and hell dives, and throw away that nasty, filthy stuff and dirty jokes, and jostling ice cream suppers, and sewing parties, and stitch and sew, and talk about Mrs. So-and-so, foreign missionary program. What's the matter with you?
What you need today ... A missionary program was not never stitch and sew party. It was, "Tarry ye in the city of Jerusalem till you're endued with power from on high. After that the Holy Ghost is come upon you. Then you will be witnesses of Me in Jerusalem, Judea, Samaria, Owensboro, Kentucky, and the uttermost parts of the world." Amen!

Luke 24:49 And, behold, I send the promise of my Father upon you: but tarry ye in the city of Jerusalem, until ye be endued with power from on high.

Acts 1:8 But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.

49 "I will restore," saith the Lord. Restore what? What it was in the beginning, the first early apostolic church. Pentecostal, Methodist, Baptist, whatever we want to call it. It was right there in the beginning, the church of our Lord Jesus Christ. In there they had signs and wonders and miracles.
There come a man by the name of Peter. They knowed he was a prophet. Old Ananias walked up before him one day and he said, "I sold to so-and-so."
Peter said, "You're lying." Is that right? Went right down with the Spirit of Jesus Christ upon him and said, "You kept back a portion of the money." It frightened the old boy so bad till he fell dead, and they packed him out. And here come his wife in. Peter said, "You're into it, too." And away they packed her.

Joel 2:25 And I will restore to you the years that the locust hath eaten, the cankerworm, and the caterpillar, and the palmerworm, my great army which I sent among you.

Acts 5:1 But a certain man named Ananias, with Sapphira his wife, sold a possession,

Acts 5:2 And kept back part of the price, his wife also being privy to it, and brought a certain part, and laid it, at the apostles' feet.

Acts 5:3 But Peter said, Ananias, why hath Satan filled thine heart to lie to the Holy Ghost, and to keep back part of the price of the land?

Acts 5:4 Whiles it remained, was it not thine own? and after it was sold, was it not in thine own power? why hast thou conceived this thing in thine heart? thou hast not lied unto men, but unto God.

50 And they looked and seen that Spirit of discernment that was on Jesus Christ, was on Peter just exactly. And the people didn't wait for him to pray for them. They just laid them in the shadow. When the shadow passed over them, they got well, every one of them.
Then we today who claim to have the baptism of the Holy Ghost and have to wait for something to be done. Oh, hallelujah! I feel good, all right. God is here. God is here to make well. He's here to heal. He has already healed. The only thing He wants you to do with the Spirit like in this church right now, with the Holy Ghost waving over here, anything could take place. Do you believe that? The Holy Ghost could come right down now and heal, or save, or do whatever He wanted to in the meeting.

51 We're going to start the prayer line in a few minutes. I want every one of you to be reverent. Abide With Me, if you will, sister on the piano. Play it if you will. I want everyone reverent. How can you deny Him?
"I will restore," saith the Lord. You say, "I don't understand those people, all these things that's going on. I don't understand how you..." Yeah, you sit up there and call it mental telepathy. You think I'm a witch. Did you know that Jesus Christ was considered the same thing? Do you know all of His apostles was considered the same thing?
They boiled John in a batten of grease for twenty-four hours, trying to boil the Holy Ghost out of him. How can you do that? Because they thought he was a witch and they said he bewitched the grease. Agabus, and many of the great writers, and Polycarp, and many of those, when he stood in that fire there that day with his hands up praying to God. And the fire wouldn't even burn him. They said, "He bewitched the fire." Throwed a spear in his side, Foxe's book of Martyrs, and enough blood run out to put the whole fire out. Then they said, "He bewitched it with blood." When it was only about a gallon and something of blood in a man's body. It was God. And the world knew it not.

52 "A little while and the world seeth Me no more, yet ye shall see Me for I will be with you, even in you in Owensboro, Kentucky or to the uttermost parts of the earth." Is that right? "Even to the end I will be the same yesterday, today, and forever."
Truly I thought you had faith. Truly I've give it that faith. I could pray for you, lay hands on you, sure. That's good. But I thought, surely you Pentecostal, Full Gospel people, you good spiritual Methodists, Baptists... There's plenty of them over there in the Baptist church and Methodist church that's spiritual yet. That's exactly right. Don't tell me. I'm going right now into a bunch of them, second from this meeting here. If you don't believe they...
Not Baptists, down here in the hills of Kentucky where we Baptists was. We wasn't like you Baptists around here, shake hands and put your name on the book. We got down at the altar and beat one another on the back till we come through. We got something. We need some more like that.

Matthew 28:20 Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen.

John 14:19 Yet a little while, and the world seeth me no more; but ye see me: because I live, ye shall live also.

53 We need some John the Baptists would come out not with his collar turned around and his tuxedo suit on. But brother, he had an old hairy sheepskin wrapped around him. He preached repentance so hard, he shook all Jerusalem and Judea. That's what we need today, some more Baptists like that. Amen. Not compromisers.
Philip come out there, Herod with Philip's wife. Some of them said, "Don't you preach on marriage and divorce."
He walked right in his face and said, "It's not lawful for you to have her." Could you imagine a man filled with the Holy Ghost hold back on something like that? No. What's the matter today? We hold back on too much of that stuff and committing rottenness and everything else in our churches. We need an old-time house-cleaning. Amen. That comes plumb from the basement to the attic, too. Amen.

Mark 6:18 For John had said unto Herod, It is not lawful for thee to have thy brother's wife.

54 Oh, I know you think I'm crazy. Well, if I am, I'm happy. Just leave me alone. That's right. I'm all right. I feel a lot better this way than I did when I had my other mind, so I will just keep this one. That's right. I love it. I have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ with this kind of a mind. Sure you look crazy to the world and act crazy.
Now, when God does something, believe Him. Don't keep wiggling around saying this, that, or the other. Believe Him. Now, that Divine gift was given for that purpose. Now, in this building tonight there's a few hundred people sitting here. And God could reveal anything that He wanted to right here to me if He wished to. I was born with... Not by... Not because I deserve it. I come up out of a sinful family. My people were Catholic before me. My background is Irish Catholic.
Here not long ago, with an interview with some priests. They said, "Oh, well, all gifts come back to the church." Said, "You'll be coming back, Brother Branham."

55 I said, "Not while I got the Holy Ghost." Yes, sir. I have nothing against Catholic people. No, sir. I have nothing against the Catholic no more than the Protestants. We're all people. We're all striving for the same place. But, brethren, the first thing you know, they begin to pull the wool over your eyes and denying the thing that's God. Don't you do that. Out on the farm, we used to have some experience of them kind of things.
I want you to go to your church. If you're a Methodist, go back. Go back with the Holy Ghost. Tell your pastor. Do what you can for your church. Do everything you can to get the people filled with the Holy Ghost. God will appreciate you, and if your pastor's spiritual, he will, too. Sure he will. I'm not trying to take you away from churches, I'm trying to get you to God. God is the main thing.

56 You know what I believe? I believe in calling a prayer line. I'm just going to stand here and ask God just to help me right here from this platform. Do you believe out there?
I'm just seeing if there's anybody I recognize. 'Course I know Brother Bosworth here, and Billy Paul standing there, Brother Ryan. It's all I remember, seeing them there. On this side here, I see nobody I know. I see Brother Daugherty sitting here, and Brother Skaggs. As far as I know, that's about as far as I... Of course the brethren up in here, Brother Beeler and them from Jeffersonville. That's about as far as I know. But you know what? The God that I've tried to represent knows every one of you. Do you believe that?
How many believes that God said He set in the church apostles, prophets, teachers, evangelists, gifts of healing, working of miracles, speaking in tongues, interpretation of tongues. Do you believe that? With all your heart? Then look here.

1 Corinthians 12:28 And God hath set some in the church, first apostles, secondarily prophets, thirdly teachers, after that miracles, then gifts of healings, helps, governments, diversities of tongues.

Ephesians 4:11 And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers;

57 To you Pentecostal people, God give you a gift not long ago of speaking in tongues. I will admit you run it to extremes. Now, you Baptists see... To me it's the Gospel. I love all of you. But, brother, when I see anything's wrong I got to say something about it, see. He give you a gift of speaking in tongues, and they run it into extremes. That's right. Because you got people down there and got them to speak with tongues that knowed no more about God than nothing. They went out and done all kinds of things. If they really had God in their heart they wouldn't have done that, see. That's right. So far for that. That's all right. Brother Bosworth and them will... Teachers will do that.
I believe in speaking in tongues, sure I do. I believe in everything God said in this Bible is the truth. But the Bible said Paul said, "If you all speak with tongues, and one comes in unlearned he will say, 'You're all mad.' But if one prophesies and reveals the secret of the heart or something, then they'll fall down and say, 'God is with you.'" Is that right? Thanks be to God for both of them. Is that right? It's prophecy.

1 Corinthians 14:23 If therefore the whole church be come together into one place, and all speak with tongues, and there come in those that are unlearned, or unbelievers, will they not say that ye are mad?

1 Corinthians 14:24 But if all prophesy, and there come in one that believeth not, or one unlearned, he is convinced of all, he is judged of all:

58 Now, there's a difference between prophecy, a gift of prophesy, and a prophet. Did you know that? There's where you brethren in the Latter Rain went off at. Somebody make a prophecy, you call them a prophet. That's wrong. The next time, you've seen an error. A gift of prophesy and a prophet's different.
"God in sundry times spoke to the fathers through to the prophets, these last days through His Son, Jesus Christ. A gift of prophecy is in the body and two or three has to set before it to see if it's ... to be judged when it's spoke. But you never seen nobody stand before Moses, Isaiah, Jeremiah. Korah tried to stand before Moses one day, and the world swallowed him or the earth swallowed him up, see. But a prophet is born, election. All through life it's the Word of the Lord just as it comes to them. Now He reveals.
Now, when everyone gets quiet. I'm trying my best to ask God in my heart. But as you're moving, it just keeps me going. Spirit moves here, moves there, moves here. I just don't know what to do. Let's pray.
Father, Lord Jesus, the great Alpha, Omega, the beginning and the ending, He which was, which is, and shall come, the Root and Offspring of David, the Morning Star, we worship Thee tonight with all of our hearts, full of love and gratitude. I have done the best that I knowed how in Your Word, feeling, Lord, that something ought to be said to these people. For Your great Spirit is laboring here, and critics sitting around with all those ideas, and Thou knowest, Lord, it become right to me. You know You revealed them to me.

Numbers 26:9 And the sons of Eliab; Nemuel, and Dathan, and Abiram. This is that Dathan and Abiram, which were famous in the congregation, who strove against Moses and against Aaron in the company of Korah, when they strove against the LORD:

Numbers 26:10 And the earth opened her mouth, and swallowed them up together with Korah, when that company died, what time the fire devoured two hundred and fifty men: and they became a sign.

Hebrews 1:1 God, who at sundry times and in divers manners spake in time past unto the fathers by the prophets,

Hebrews 1:2 Hath in these last days spoken unto us by his Son, whom he hath appointed heir of all things, by whom also he made the worlds;

Revelation 1:8 I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the ending, saith the Lord, which is, and which was, and which is to come, the Almighty.

Revelation 22:16 I Jesus have sent mine angel to testify unto you these things in the churches. I am the root and the offspring of David, and the bright and morning star.

59 And I felt like if I could let the people know just where we stand, and what we stand for, they'd understand then that we believe You. And now, Lord, I've spoke Your Word the best that I know how. And I pray that You'll confirm it tonight with signs and wonders. Now, back the word of Your servant. I've spoke for You. Now, speak for me, Lord, in the way that my word might be known to these men and women, Your children, to be true. I ask this for God's glory and the confirmation of His Word which Jesus Christ said would take place in the last days. "The things that I do shall you also." I ask it in His name. Amen. Amen.
[A sister speaks in tongues, and a brother interprets.]

John 14:12 Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father.

60 Now, you have heard His Word. I don't know those people, but the Lord has spoke and He has told you, "Draw nigh." His Spirit is near. May He come. May He speak.
Now, you believers look and believe. You look and have faith in God. And be reverent. Sit still. How many out there wants to be healed? Raise your hand. Some of you are dying, you know it. How many over here? You here. I'm asking God to help me on this.
But before I get a person here, at the platform, He will sweep over this audience in great visions, and let me prophesy from this platform in His name. It's a great thing to ask Him. I never done it before, but I believe He will. I have faith in my God. I believe that He's here. If He will do that, surely you'll believe. Just be reverent. Don't be in too much a hurry. Let the Spirit of God... Be reverent, just keep praying. He's here. Visions will move. But please, be real ... just as quiet as you can.
[A sister speaks in tongues.] Now, you hear the Spirit speaking all around through the building, see? [A sister speaks in tongues.] Now, everyone just be...

61 I know you might not believe it. I can't make you. The vision... Here it stands over a little woman sitting right back here, a Light. She's praying. You have a female trouble, don't you, sister sitting right there on the left hand side of the row. Isn't that right? You was asking God to heal you, didn't you? You're healed. Do you have a prayer card, lady? You don't have a prayer card, no.
Be in prayer now, please, everywhere all over the building. I can only speak where He tells me to speak. I see a man looking at me right now. I see it standing near him. You with the brown suit on, sitting there. It's near. It's near you... No, it's a woman I believe. The man. He has... You have catar... don't you? Catar... and some kind of a... You have something wrong with an eye, a cataract. Is that right, sir? Raise up your hand if that's right. You don't have any cards or anything. All right. You can go home now and be well. Christ makes you whole. [Gap in the audio]

62 That lady, it seem like it... Look this way, lady. Do you believe me to be God's prophet? You, yes. Stand up to your feet just a minute. Do you believe me? I call ... Said something there, and you moved. And I seen the Spirit stand by you. It isn't there now, but I want to talk to you a minute. Do you believe me to be God's servant? We're perfect strangers, aren't we, lady? You don't know me. I don't know you. Do you believe the message that I preached is the truth? You do. No way at all for me to ever know you. Probably here and me a hundred and fifty miles away. But you believe now. I want you to talk to me just from there, just like you was on the platform.
No, you come from away from here. You live by a place got a lot of rolling hills in it. It's a ... I'd say you come from New York. Is that right? And don't they call you May? Aren't you... Ain't your name May? Is that right? It's May? And you have... You have something wrong with your eyes and you have spinal trouble. You're on your road to a place where there's a lot of palm trees growing. I believe it's California, and you're going to meet a lady that looks a whole lot like you. It's your sister. Isn't that right? Is that the truth? And you're fixing to leave right away, aren't you? Is that the truth? Raise your hand if that's the truth. All right, you can go on your road healed to your sister now. Jesus Christ has made you whole. God bless you.

63 Have faith. Don't doubt. Somebody over in this way. Somebody believe in here in this vicinity here. Have faith in God. Just pray and say, "God, I believe that with all my heart, and I'm desperately in need."
I see a little mother hugging a baby. What about you, lady? Look like you're kind of desperate. Do you believe me as God's prophet? We are strangers. I don't know you. God knows that I don't know you. But you're in need of prayer. You've got a gall bladder condition. Isn't that right? And you've had an operation and it ruptured. Is that right? Isn't that your husband sitting out there from you? You have a back trouble, don't you, sir? And that's your granddaughter sitting next to you. And the little baby's bothered with a nerve condition which causes headaches and stomach trouble. Is that right? That's the mother of the baby sitting right behind it. Is that right? Hallelujah. All right, you can go home and be well. God bless you, sir.

64 Have faith in God. Believe with all your heart. Shame on you people. How would you reject and deny? Someone believe somewhere else. Have faith. Believe this that God... I'm telling you the truth, my friends. Excuse me for being a baby. When you see the supernatural, see an Angel standing there, that Light moving over a person, see it break out and see it. What's going on, taking place? Please don't walk around. It throws me out so. God will surely make you pay for it after you're asked in Jesus' name to be quiet.
Said, "Be still and know that I'm God."
See a man sitting back in there, looking at me. I see something that's coming near him, standing over him. He has a gall bladder trouble, a liver condition, many things wrong with him. Do you have a prayer card, sir, sitting with the glasses on, sitting, looking right at me? Stand up to your feet just a minute. Do you believe with all your heart? Now, you're aware, brother, that something's taking place. You have a feeling that you've never felt before. Isn't that a... You have a strange feeling. Isn't that right? It's the Angel of the Lord standing near you. Looks to me like that you could see that, people. Just look that way, right there just above the man. That milling Light standing right there. It's kind of a amber, moving. Right here it is.

65 The man has come from a... He's come from away. He's from up in... He's from Indiana. And I see he's in a... He's somewhere where there's a lot of criticism. They're criticizing divine healing to the man. And I hear somebody call his name Ed. Isn't your name Ed? If that's right raise up your hand. All right, Ed. You return home well, and show the people what the Lord has done for you. And God bless you. Go on your road.
Let's bow our heads just a minute. I want everybody with your heads bowed and reverent. I want you to believe right now. And I want each one of you to repeat this prayer. As I say it, you repeat it. I'm going to pray it, just say it, but you pray it to God.

66 Oh God ... (Repeat it after me.) Oh God, Creator of heavens and earth, I do worship Thee. I believe these things. Your Bible has said so, the reason I believe it. And now, I'm coming to You to believe that You're going to heal me, or give me faith that I can accept my healing. And I now, as Your servant, I rebuke the Devil that's tormenting me. And by Jesus' stripes I am healed. And I will testify of it. And I will give You glory. In Jesus' name I accept it. Amen.
Now, each one of you just keep your head bowed. Keep shut in with God. Keep praying. I want to watch and see what He does. Keep praying now. Are you ready to accept your healing? After the Holy Spirit here, see Him moving with the people, how could you doubt Him anymore?

67 Now, surely by God's help... If God will stand here on the platform and rebuke a devil, He can rebuke the whole thing at once. If in Africa, a land of Hottentots, one prayer twenty-five thousand people was healed, surely He can be in Owensboro, Kentucky right in the middle of civilization. Keep your heads bowed and listen now. Pray while I ask God to help you. This is my prayer. You just keep shut in with God now.
Almighty God, I ask for mercy. I see these poor people. See many of them laying here on cots, and stretchers, and beds, see them sitting back there with heart trouble and diabetes, cancer, and diseases that'll kill them before another moon changes if You don't help them. And God I know You're here willing to help them and may... If the Devil is standing in their way, they're trying to get them to doubt or be a little skeptic about it. And I pray for mercy. I've preached. I've done all I know how to do. And now, Lord, I pray that You'll hear my prayer. And I'm coming to You with reverence and with respect. And I'm coming believing that You're going to heal every person here.

68 Now, thou demons that's bound this group of people, in the name of Jesus Christ the Son of God, I adjure thee, come out of the people and leave them.
I want you to keep your head bowed. Keep thinking in your heart, "Thank You, Lord. Thank You, Lord. Thank You for my healing." Now, you that couldn't do something, you that couldn't hear in one ear, put your finger in your good ear and see if you can't hear out of your bad ear. You that couldn't raise your hand, raise your hand up. You that couldn't do something, do it. The first one can do something that they couldn't do, raise up your hand. Let me see. Can anybody hear out of one ear that they couldn't ear before, raise up your hand. Somebody that had a bad ear. Can you hear now, sister? I want you to come here a minute. Somebody else that couldn't raise their hand, raised their hand. I want you to stand right here for a testimony.

69 Somebody that couldn't hear and can hear now, accept your healing with this woman if you accept your healing now. You couldn't hear, but now you can hear in your ears, raise up your hand so I will know who you are. Can you hear, brother? Couldn't hear before, can hear now. Come right here. That's right. Come right... Come here. Right up here. Stand here. That's wonderful. Come right on up, testify.
Somebody else that can hear, couldn't hear. These people are getting healed right out in the audience, their own prayer, their own faith. You couldn't hear, and now you can hear. Raise up your hand. You couldn't hear before prayer and now you can hear. Anywhere up in here? Up in this way? Anybody that couldn't hear? If some of those in wheelchairs sitting there, ask them to say, "Praise the Lord," or something. Say, "Praise the Lord." Speak out, see if they couldn't speak, let them speak. All right.

70 Somebody that had a crippled hand and couldn't raise your hand, raise up your hand now. See if you can't raise your hand up like that. Somebody who couldn't walk, get up and walk. Come to the plat... Come right on around here, brother. Come right on up the platform here. I want you to come up and testify. Somebody that couldn't do something... What's the matter people? Don't look at these people. Pray for yourself. You're the one's in desperate need. I'm going to get heart troubles and everything here in a few minutes for testimonies.
That's it, you that couldn't do something, I want you to do it now. God bless you. Here's a lady that had... Come hobbling on crutches. Here she comes walking up without them. Let's say, "Praise the Lord." All right. Time for you to get busy, start doing something. Come right on, sister. Come on. Don't matter... You may be a little lame in your legs. That's all right. Come on. You'll be all right. Now, if some of the rest of you couldn't walk, get up and come on up here. God bless you.

71 Look, sir, you laying there on that bed. You believe me to be God's prophet? Do you believe that what I tell you to be the truth, laying there on the cot? I don't know you, but God knows you, doesn't He? Would you believe me as God's prophet if I tell you the truth? You'll have to. Do you believe that, mother, with all your heart?
The man is at the end of the road. He has cancer in the rectum and he's helpless. [Unclear words] that which has brought him to those crutches. Mister, if you lay there you can't last but a little while. But Jesus Christ will help you. If I was in your place, I would command you in the name of Jesus Christ to get out of that stretcher and walk. Do you believe me to be His servant? I'd raise up out of that chair, go home. Tell the Devil he's a liar. Push my cot on out and go home, wouldn't have to fool with it. Then rise up.

72 And any of the rest of you here, any that's laying here on the beds, anything you are, God knows your heart. I can tell you what's wrong with you and what's your trouble. I can tell you right now. It's your unbelief. God is here right now to make every one of you well. Do you believe it? How many of you accept your healing, stand to your feet. Every person in here that believes that you've accepted your healing... That's right. Stand up. God bless you. God bless you. Stand up. That's good. God bless you. God bless you. God bless you. Come right on up. That's right.
Here's a deaf and dumb standing up now to come and testify. They've accepted their healing. Amen. Here's the old man that was laying paralyzed from this cancer laying here, coming right out of the bed to accept his healing. That's the way to do it. Rise up to your feet. Don't be scared. Stand right up and say, "God, my merciful Father, I believe." While you're standing I'm going to pray.

73 Oh, Lord God, give power, give strength, give unction. I pray tonight, Lord, that You'll have an old-fashioned testimony meeting here that'll glorify God that the power of the Holy Ghost will fall into this building and the great unction of God will fall and heal every person here and may there be an old-time conviction and power in Jesus' name. Amen.
Here's the man that was paralyzed, laying here, raised up out of the stretcher. Some of you ushers go down here and bring him up the platform. Brethren, say, some of you come over here and help the man. That's right. Here's the man laying paralyzed on the stretcher. Get the crutches. Pick up the crutches and take them [unclear words].
Let's say, "Praise the Lord." All right.
Everybody want to testify come forward. Come up here now, everybody that wants to testify to give God glory. Here's a crippled man walked out of here in this aisle giving God praise.
Let's say, "Hallelujah." Praise the Lord. Praise the Lord. All right, Brother Bosworth, come take over the testimony meeting now. God bless you.

I will restore (1954-06-20 Afternoon) (William M. Branham Sermons) somebody

I will restore

1 Marvelous meeting, at Brother Redigar's place there, where many great men stood in the same pulpit. And this song that's been my theme now for eight years, "Only Believe," when Paul Rader, who wrote it, pastored the tabernacle after the death of Brother Redigar... I was right in the room, and hear it coming in, just inspiration, and "Only believe, all things are possible," and know that Paul made that song up sitting right there. And he was a dear friend, that's gone on to glory.
And while sitting there, why, that night I know we was having a great time. You Pentecostal people ... or, Assemblies of God, seen the article that was written. The little girl had been blind, you know, and was healed. We The People packed it in the book of We The People. And, oh, it went everywhere of the little blind girl that night, that I just held in my arms till she got her sight.

2 And so, after the meeting was about ended, they had taken me back to rest up a little bit, and then taken me to emergency room, where some ... they couldn't get back to be prayed for. Just kind of... There was a man came in who really must've taught Mr. Webster how to talk. He come in; he said, "Brother Branham."
I said, "Yes, sir."
He said, "Oh, mister," said, "your grammar is very poor."
I said, "Yes, sir. I know that."
He said, "Why, you used the words 'hain't,' 'git,' and all that."
I said, "Yes, sir. That's about all I know how to use."
He said, "Well," he said...
I said, "Well, I was raised poor, ten of us children; daddy died when I had to take care of them and my widowed mother," and I said...
Said, "That's no excuse now; you're a man."
I said, "Yes, sir. That's right. But," I said, "now, since the Lord's called me to the ministry," I said, "I'm praying for the sick day and night, and I don't have a chance to."
He said, "Oh, you could..." Said, "For instance, you used a word out there tonight, 'pole-pit.'" He said, "You said, 'The people passing by this pole-pit with faith will get healed.'" Said, "You know, that audience would appreciate you more if you'd said, 'pull-pit'"
I said... He kind of pulled me a little on it. I said, "Brother, I don't believe that." I said, "Them people don't care whether I say 'pole-pit' or 'pull-pit,' just so I preach the Gospel, and live the right kind of life, and produce what I'm talking about." That's the key. I believe it. That's right.

3 Well, this afternoon, my boy told me that he was going to give out prayer cards at fifteen minutes till six. So you people here that's got your loved ones and you want to come and be prayed for, you come get your card this afternoon. And at a quarter-of-six, the boy said.
And then, I want to thank a lady that's probably in the building. It's dark out there to me now. I can just see part of the way back. I can see, but I can't make out faces. I've looked for the lady sitting here, if I would... Don't think I would know her. I was having breakfast in a coffee shop this morning (wife and I), and there were four or five ladies sitting there. I knew they were Christians, but I didn't know they knew me, for they was praying before they eat.
And so, a man came to my room a few moments ago and gave me a little envelope that had ten dollars in it for an overseas offering. Said, "We met you in the coffee shop this morning." If the sister is here, I want to thank her very much. And may the Lord bless you, my dear sisters.

4 And she asked a request for the church to pray (they're from another state) for a little girl---a little child with cerebral palsy, that's injured at birth.
We will, my sister. And I'm asking the church to do so. And not only that, but I'll have your address on there. And I didn't know what hotel you were in or nothing to call you, so I ... to thank you. And this is my opportunity of doing it. And not only that, but I will send you a handkerchief that I've just prayed over. You'll get it in a day or two in the mail. May the Lord bless you greatly.

5 And now, tonight we're, perhaps, going back to have prayer line again tonight. Last evening, I tried something new. And looks like I shouldn't try you all's patience so much, of me trying this, that, or the other. But I try to get to a lot of people.
So many people always throw it up to me, that I don't get to enough people. That's probably true. I've heard them say that Brother Roberts... I believe Brother Roberts has visited the city here; I've seen his paper. And perhaps many of you attended Brother Roberts' meetings; a wonderful gallant soldier of God, Brother Roberts. I love him with real Christian love.
And they have said, "Why, Brother Roberts will pray for five hundred while you're praying for one." Well, maybe that's true. But Brother Roberts is doing what God told him to do. I'm doing what God told me to do, you see. And we together are co-workers in Christ Jesus. And Brother Roberts' meeting is that point of contact of laying hands on the sick. And he gets a marvelous results for our Lord.
And God is with Brother Roberts. God loves Brother Roberts, 'cause it proves it by the ministry He's given him. And He's with other brothers too, everywhere, that's ministering. And we have great fellowship with one another.

6 Now, that's Brother Roberts' way of praying for the sick. Mine is in the line of prophetic, to a recognition of the presence of the Lord Jesus Christ.
In my African campaign there was five people walked across the platform, and twenty-five thousand was healed with one prayer, see. See, when they seen and knowed that the presence of God was there, that settled it. They just believed it, and accepted it, and done just as I told them.
The main thing of this, Christian friends: If I have any influence, I want to use it for the best that I can for His glory. And I want to be truthful above everything. I want my word to be true. And you'll find out, the more truthful you'll be and sincere you'll be, better you'll be before God.

7 And now, this is what it is for. It's for a vindication that the message that I have told you---that Jesus has risen from the dead and living among us today---that's for you to believe it and accept Him as your Healer. And when you'll do that, I'll just assure you, that you'll write me a letter pretty soon, "It's all over." That's right. You'll do it, because that's the way it supposed to be done.
However, the Lord... I feel maybe, when coming back from overseas, I might run a few meetings just praying for the sick. You can't mix it together. I've tried last night, and before I'd get to... People, before they'd get to me, they'd ask me, "Tell me if I [unclear words]," you see. You get it, before you ... you see. You can't hardly mix it. You got to start the whole meeting, do it not using discernment, or use it all together for that.

8 So God bless you. I'm standing here taking up your time, and you sweating out there in this hot building.
And now, this afternoon, just for a short time, the Lord willing... And you that have your Bibles, I want you to turn with me to a little prophecy here that was given by one of the prophets of the Old Testament, Joel. And let's read the first couple verses of Joel, and then we get hung on a branch, and then we'll go over and read the end of it after that, and then take from there a text maybe, and speak to you, just for a few moments, God willing.
And I'll watch my time, so that you all have plenty ample time to get home, and have your dinner, and back again. And I want to thank Brother Mitchell; I don't think he's here. And all that what you give me this invitation of coming. I was getting so homesick to have a little meeting and to come over here to convention. It's not a healing service. It's a convention. And we're happy to be here to help and to do all we can in this meeting.

9 Now, in Joel, the first chapter of Joel, we read these words, like this:
The word of the LORD ... came unto Joel the...
Hear ye this, ye old men, and give ear, all ye inhabitants of the land. Hath this been in your days, or even in the days of your fathers?
Tell ye your children of it, and let your children tell their children, and their children another generation.
That which the palmerworm hath left hath the locust eaten ... that which the locust hath left has the cankerworm eaten ... that which the cankerworm hath left has the caterpillar eaten.
Looks like that there was a eating up. Now, let's take the 13th verse of the same chapter.
Gird yourselves, and lament, ye priests: howl, ye ministers of the altar: come, lie all night in sackcloth, ye ministers of my God: for the meat offering and the drink offering is withholden from the house of my God.
Sanctify ye a fast, call a solemn assembly, gather the elders and ... the inhabitants of the land unto the house of the LORD your God, and cry unto the Lord.

Joel 1:1 The word of the LORD that came to Joel the son of Pethuel.

Joel 1:2 Hear this, ye old men, and give ear, all ye inhabitants of the land. Hath this been in your days, or even in the days of your fathers?

Joel 1:3 Tell ye your children of it, and let your children tell their children, and their children another generation.

Joel 1:4 That which the palmerworm hath left hath the locust eaten; and that which the locust hath left hath the cankerworm eaten; and that which the cankerworm hath left hath the caterpillar eaten.

Joel 1:13 Gird yourselves, and lament, ye priests: howl, ye ministers of the altar: come, lie all night in sackcloth, ye ministers of my God: for the meat offering and the drink offering is withholden from the house of your God.

Joel 1:14 Sanctify ye a fast, call a solemn assembly, gather the elders and all the inhabitants of the land into the house of the LORD your God, and cry unto the LORD.

10 And then, continuing on in the 2nd chapter. Looks like it's so dark there and bitter. Let's read the outcome here and take a text from the 25th, 26th, and 27th verses.
... I will restore unto you the years ... the locust hath eaten, the cankerworm ... the caterpillar ... the palmerworm, my great host which I have sent among you.
And ye shall eat in plenty ... be satisfied, and praise the name of the LORD your God, that hath dealt wondrously with you: and my people shall never be ashamed.
And ye shall know that I am in the midst of Israel and that I am the LORD your God, and none else: and my people shall never be ashamed.

Joel 2:27 And ye shall know that I am in the midst of Israel, and that I am the LORD your God, and none else: and my people shall never be ashamed.

11 Now, shall we bow our heads just a moment to speak to Him, the Author. Father, we thank Thee this afternoon for the Lord Jesus, Thy beloved Child, who has redeemed us from sin and has given us this privilege to sit together this afternoon in heavenly places in Christ Jesus.
Now, here's the Word. I've just been reading them the last few days and studying. What a great text this is. And I pray now, that You'll help, not knowing myself what to say, that You will provide the words, and may our hearts be blessed together, and the words be watered by the Holy Spirit. And may many in here today, of old sainted people, who's come a long ways, may we catch a vision of the close appearing now of the Lord ... the soon appearing, rather, of His coming.
And may those who are not Christians as yet, may they accept Christ as their personal Saviour, this afternoon. And may those who are lukewarm, just as much as belonging to church and not a Christian in heart, may they become ashamed of themselves, and come, and make a full surrender, and receive the baptism of the Holy Spirit. For we ask it in Christ's name. Amen.

12 The book of Joel here, the prophet, this sign that he saw was concerning, looked like, a tree, or... The heritage of the Lord has always been considered a vine or a tree. I believe it was called a vine in the Old Testament. And over in the New Testament, we hear Jesus speaking much about it. He said, "When you see the fig tree putting forth buds and all the other trees, know the time is near," speaking of the second coming of Christ, that the time would be at hand of the budding of the trees.
Over in the Old Testament also, we find where that the two trees, a wild olive tree and the tame olive tree, and how that the oil was coming through the sensor pipes out of these trees into the candlesticks ... or, the lampstands.

Matthew 24:32 Now learn a parable of the fig tree; When his branch is yet tender, and putteth forth leaves, ye know that summer is nigh:

Romans 11:17 And if some of the branches be broken off, and thou, being a wild olive tree, wert grafted in among them, and with them partakest of the root and fatness of the olive tree;

Romans 11:24 For if thou wert cut out of the olive tree which is wild by nature, and wert grafted contrary to nature into a good olive tree: how much more shall these, which be the natural branches, be grafted into their own olive tree?

Revelation 11:4 These are the two olive trees, and the two candlesticks standing before the God of the earth.

13 Then we find again, that Jesus referring to it, over in the New Testament. And over in the book of Revelations, we find it again as a vine or a tree. And Israel was God's vine. And all things that we speak of and all things today...
Now, we're living, to my honest opinion... And I would not say anything this way, Christian friends, unless I truly believe that I understand what I'm speaking of. Because knowing that I'm in contact, world around, with about ten million people. And they see these things that the Holy Spirit says at night and in the day, and how they come to pass, if they watch me speaking on something, and hang on to the words [unclear word]. So I'm very careful of what saying ... what I would say, knowing that it might cast a stumbling block in someone's way.
But if I believe something and know it to be the truth, then I will be ... and would not say it, then God would hold me responsible for it in the end time.

14 Now, all these things that we see happening today, is nothing on the earth that's new. Everything has been before. And if you'll notice, the day that we're living in: different days of cults, and isms, and so forth. Those things are not new. They've always been. They've been in different forms.
But sometimes I've said when I come back from overseas, instead of having just a short meeting, I've tried to make the preparations so long... But now, by God's help, I want to do it. I want to come back, and set a meeting, and stay there for six or eight weeks before I leave. Just stay there until God says it's enough, and do some teaching from the Scripture.

15 Now, these spirits that you see moving... Anything today, just like a government, a church or anything, it's controlled by a spirit. Organizations are controlled by a spirit. Church organizations are controlled by a spirit. Churches are controlled by spirits. Individuals are controlled by spirits. Nations are controlled by spirits. And spirit was made before the cosmic matters and life that were made. God made man in His own image before He put him in the five senses. We all are acquainted with that. God's first man was made in His image, which was a spirit man, not flesh. And created He them, male and female.
And in the book of Genesis everything starts out. And in the book of Revelations it ends: beautiful picture, if you'll get down studying it.

16 And by the inspiration of the guiding Angel of God, who I have served God through ... or, He sent Him to me to guide. It's been through Him, by the Word, and never one time has He ever said anything to me that was contrary to God's Word. Anything. The Bible said, "If an angel from heaven would preach anything else, let it be accursed." It has to be according to the Word.
Then in the book of Genesis, the word Genesis means "the beginning." That's where all things had its start: in "the beginning." And then it ends in Revelations. And if you'll watch the picture, down through the ... up to the New Testament: Coming up from Genesis to the New Testament, we have a perfect picture of all things that is now, and all things that will be, and all things that was. They come up like the vines and things out of the earth, and they've wound their way through every dispensation, until they end up and go to seed in Revelations: out of Genesis to Revelations.

Galatians 1:8 But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed.

17 And we seen this through the Old Testament, and the New Testament day, winding up, which everything in the Bible by numbers in perfection is three, like: Father, Son, Holy Spirit; justification, sanctification, baptism of the Holy Spirit; water, blood, Spirit, and all these things. Threes, sevens, twelves, twenty-fours, forties, and fifties is God's numbers. That you understand. Forty is temptations, and fifty is jubilee. And, oh, you understand those by your pastors.
But now, if you'll notice, as they wind their way through, you'll see the spirits that moved back in those days, coming up through the Old Testament, reveal themselves in the New Testament, and predicted by the prophets of the New Testament to act in these days that we're living in now. For it's the same vine that comes up, right out of Genesis, moves up, and ends up, and goes to seed in Revelations.

18 Now, in the beginning, when God made man in His image, the first man Adam was a man like God. He was a spirit man. Then later on, we find after He'd made man in His image, there was no man to till the soil, so He put man in five senses to contact his earthly home. There's where man fell.
Now, Adam had a helpmate, Eve. And Eve was given birth of two sons. First son was Cain; the second son was Abel. Now, when two more human beings come in the world, then after Adam and Eve, two more spirits come to occupy these human beings. Because they couldn't have lived without spirit.

Genesis 1:27 So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them.

Genesis 2:5 And every plant of the field before it was in the earth, and every herb of the field before it grew: for the LORD God had not caused it to rain upon the earth, and there was not a man to till the ground.

Genesis 2:22 And the rib, which the LORD God had taken from man, made he a woman, and brought her unto the man.

Genesis 4:1 And Adam knew Eve his wife; and she conceived, and bare Cain, and said, I have gotten a man from the LORD.

Genesis 4:2 And she again bare his brother Abel. And Abel was a keeper of sheep, but Cain was a tiller of the ground.

19 Now, there's the first two that I want to deal on this afternoon: Is those two boys and their spirits. Now, if you see anything... Just for instance, like Babylon. Babylon appears in Genesis. (Just give you that one thing that you might understand.)
Babylon appears in Genesis. What was Babylon first? Babylon was the first setup of idolatry. And there was a man-worship in there, a man worshipped. His name was Nimrod. He was the descent of Ham. After that, they come along Sin and then Sin's wife. And she started up the pollution of immorality and so forth. Then they worshipped roots and vines and so forth, as images in the temple in Babylon.
Babylon appears in Genesis as a corrupt place. It appears over in the days of king Nebuchadnezzar in Daniel's time, as a corrupt place. Then it appears over in Revelations, going into perdition. Is that right? Starts in Genesis, comes through the book, ends up in Revelations.

Genesis 10:8 And Cush begat Nimrod: he began to be a mighty one in the earth.

Genesis 10:9 He was a mighty hunter before the LORD: wherefore it is said, Even as Nimrod the mighty hunter before the LORD.

Genesis 10:10 And the beginning of his kingdom was Babel, and Erech, and Accad, and Calneh, in the land of Shinar.

Daniel 1:1 In the third year of the reign of Jehoiakim king of Judah came Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon unto Jerusalem, and besieged it.

20 Now, when Cain was born and Abel was born, there were two sons, two boys, and both of them had a spirit. And one was contrary to another.
Now, I'm sitting here, perhaps, before a dozen or more churches. And I wouldn't teach a doctrine that was contrary to anything you'd heard. I have my opinion of whose son Cain was and where that evil streak come from. It could not have come from God nor from Adam. So he was evil to begin with. He was born evil. And being a little Calvinistic myself, I believe in foreordination, and predestination, and so forth. And I see that Cain was born an evil one. And Abel was born a just one. Abel, of course, being correctly the son from Adam.
And now, both those boys, when they were turned out of the Garden of Eden, after the sin of their mother, and was turned out of Eden, they had to shift for themselves, and they seen they were getting old as they grew on. And they were bound to turn back to the dust of the earth again.

1 John 3:12 Not as Cain, who was of that wicked one, and slew his brother. And wherefore slew he him? Because his own works were evil, and his brother's righteous.

21 And now, I want you to notice it. Many of us look upon Cain as some beast of some sort. But I don't know; that man, if you look at him in the moral realms, as what he was religiously speaking, he was no bad fellow. Cain was a long ways from being a communist. And Cain was not an infidel. Cain was a believer. He was a worshipper of God, and he was a loyal church member.
Now, we're going to pinch the corners now. May the Holy Spirit take the Word right straight to your heart, where it's meant, now. So that you might know that if I never see you again, at the day of judgment I want to be free from all men's blood. "That I have not shunned," as the apostle said of old, "to declare the whole counsel of God."

Genesis 4:3 And in process of time it came to pass, that Cain brought of the fruit of the ground an offering unto the LORD.

Acts 20:27 For I have not shunned to declare unto you all the counsel of God.

22 Now, watch these two spirits on these boys spring up here in Genesis, and watch it end on in Revelations. And let's bring it through the Bible a few minutes on these two vines. I'll take Cain to my left side, Abel to my right side.
Now, and now, both of those boys was religious. Both of them were worshippers of God. Now, remember, Cain built an altar to the Lord. In other words, he had a church. And if a church membership is all God requires, Cain was just as good a man as Abel was, and as just as Abel was, if God only requires a man to go to church. Cain went to church.
Well, you say, "Wait a minute now." All right. Cain was also a worshipper of God. Do you realize that you could belong to church and worship God and still not be a Christian? Cain in the beginning... Now, don't fall out with me. Just sit still a minute; let's look at it through the Scripture, see.

Genesis 4:3 And in process of time it came to pass, that Cain brought of the fruit of the ground an offering unto the LORD.

Genesis 4:4 And Abel, he also brought of the firstlings of his flock and of the fat thereof. And the LORD had respect unto Abel and to his offering:

23 Here, in the beginning Cain was a worshipper, a believer. "Why, brother, you said, 'If a man believes on the Lord Jesus Christ...'" Correctly, that's right. But Cain was a believer. He come to worship God. And not only that, but he was a great contributor to the church. He made a sacrifice to the church. He built a garden in the garden ... near the garden, where the Cherubim was with a sword, perhaps at the east side of the gate, and with flame going back and forth to keep them away from the tree of life.
Now, they perhaps, both boys come there and built an altar ... or, a church, a worshipping place. And Cain built just as good an altar, and perhaps a more prettier altar, than Abel did. And he came with his gift and he worshipped God just the same as Abel did.
And if God only requires faith in Him, worship Him, a membership in the church, a sacrifice... Why, today we'd call that a renown Christian. But how far we are off from the Word of God? That man was a worshipper. He didn't come in vain. He wanted his soul saved. He come with a sincerity of heart and laid down to find favor with God.

Genesis 3:24 So he drove out the man; and he placed at the east of the garden of Eden Cherubims, and a flaming sword which turned every way, to keep the way of the tree of life.

24 Now, I want you to notice what he did. He brought the fruits of the field. Perhaps he put lilies on the altar, decorated it, made it pretty, because he was a tiller of the soil. And a shepherd ... or, not a shepherd, but a tiller of the soil, worker of the ground.
And look! After his nature of Satan, he tried to make things so pretty to please God. Now, that's just about the way our churches get today. Now, I'm not here to slam churches. I believe in every one of them. And I love churches. But, friends, when something is going wrong and you see the danger lying, it's best to warn the church, that they don't step into this thing.

25 Now, Cain was a worshipper. And he came and brought his gifts. Perhaps had great big lilies laying on the altar... Not long ago, I was talking to a minister. And he said, "Brother Branham, my congregation," he said, "I wished I could get them to come to church." He said, "Every Easter, they're every one there to show their new bonnets and new clothes." He said, "They all bring a lily and put it on the altar." Said, "I always bid them 'Merry Christmas,' because they won't be back anymore till next Easter."
I said, "Because they're just church members and not born again. That's the reason." A man that's born of the Spirit of God loves to go to church better than he loves to eat his dinner when he's hungry. The spiritual man on the inside has got to be fed. If that man isn't fed, he'll die. The outward man isn't fed, he'll die. And so will the inward man. He's got to be fed on...
The Bible said... Jesus told Satan in the debate, He said, "It is written, man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God." That's how man lives: not by his bread alone, but by the Word of God, man lives. His outward man lives by bread. His inward man lives by the bread of God. All right.

Genesis 4:3 And in process of time it came to pass, that Cain brought of the fruit of the ground an offering unto the LORD.

Deuteronomy 8:3 And he humbled thee, and suffered thee to hunger, and fed thee with manna, which thou knewest not, neither did thy fathers know; that he might make thee know that man doth not live by bread only, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of the LORD doth man live.

Matthew 4:4 But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.

Luke 4:4 And Jesus answered him, saying, It is written, That man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word of God.

26 Notice this now, as we go along. Now, Cain came and made sacrifice.
And by the way, God don't want lilies on the altar. He wants sinners on the altar. God don't want your lily; He wants you. You're the person needs to be on the altar. And anyhow, and all this today...
And we've noticed that Satan in the beginning, in the origin, back in the initial condition, he was full of pomp. He wanted something ... a better kingdom than Michael, so he goes over to the north and sets him up a kingdom greater, more beautiful.
Don't you see how beauty is deceitful? And how our churches today are seeing who can build the biggest church, who can make the best pews, who can get the best-dressed crowd, the more honorable people among the city to come. That's all of the devil. You may be angry with me after this, but when I meet you at judgment, you'll know that I've spoke to you in the name of the Lord. That's right.

Isaiah 14:12 How art thou fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning! how art thou cut down to the ground, which didst weaken the nations!

Isaiah 14:13 For thou hast said in thine heart, I will ascend into heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars of God: I will sit also upon the mount of the congregation, in the sides of the north:

Isaiah 14:14 I will ascend above the heights of the clouds; I will be like the most High.

27 We can't humble ourselves anymore. We got to have the big, the refined, the best, and everything, knowing that those things comes from Satan, always have been. It was in heaven. That's the reason he was kicked out. That's what he's doing here on earth: taking the churches and deceiving them. God doesn't dwell in big buildings; He doesn't dwell among fine-dressed people; He doesn't have to have that. God wants a humble heart to dwell in. Amen.
And it's too bad that we, the holiness people, Pentecostal people, is getting so starchy, till we've forgot about that. Amen. I'm not "amending" myself, but amen means "so be it." I believe it.

28 Notice, then when... Not only that, but he come up and worshipped. Here some time ago, I was speaking to a great fundamental brother. He said, "What more can a man do but believe?"
I said, "That's all he can do, but God can do more."
He said, "Abraham believed God, Brother Branham, and it was imputed to him for righteousness."
I said, "That's right. But He give him the seal of circumcision as a confirmation of his faith." I said, "If you haven't received the Holy Ghost since you believed, God's never confirmed that He's accepted your faith. For the baptism of the Holy Ghost is a confirmation that God has accepted your faith." Amen.

Romans 4:3 For what saith the scripture? Abraham believed God, and it was counted unto him for righteousness.

Romans 4:11 And he received the sign of circumcision, a seal of the righteousness of the faith which he had yet being uncircumcised: that he might be the father of all them that believe, though they be not circumcised; that righteousness might be imputed unto them also:

Galatians 3:6 Even as Abraham believed God, and it was accounted to him for righteousness.

James 2:23 And the scripture was fulfilled which saith, Abraham believed God, and it was imputed unto him for righteousness: and he was called the Friend of God.

29 Now, what is the circumcision today? Is the Holy Spirit. God circumcises our hearts by the Holy Spirit. Where it was done by the flesh with hands in the days gone by, but it's done by the Holy Spirit now. When we believe correctly on the Lord Jesus Christ, God gives the Holy Ghost to us to confirm it, that our faith has been reckoned before Him, and imputed to us for righteousness. Without the Holy Spirit, you never recognized it yet.
Now, this brother was a good Baptist brother of mine. Said, "You receive the Holy Ghost when you believed."
I said, "Brother, in Acts the 19th chapter, Paul passed a good bunch of Baptist brethren, and he said, 'Have you received the Holy Ghost since you believed?' 'Since you believed, have you received the Holy Ghost?'" The Holy Ghost is a confirmation that God has accepted your faith. Amen.

Acts 19:2 He said unto them, Have ye received the Holy Ghost since ye believed? And they said unto him, We have not so much as heard whether there be any Holy Ghost.

30 Now, Cain was a believer. Look at that spirit where it begin at ... where it begin---a religious spirit. And many people today are trying to... I hear ministers on the air, trying to say that communism is the antichrist. Oh, brother. I'm not a know-it-all. I don't want to be that way. God forbid. But that's pure religious ignorance.
Why, communism has nothing to do with the antichrist spirit. Jesus said in Saint Matthew the 24th chapter, "The two spirits would be so close together, it'd deceive the very elect, if possible." The antichrist is religion, not a anti-religion. Antichrist is so close.
Judas was possessed with the antichrist spirit and walked plumb almost to Pentecost with Him: rejoiced, cast out devils, and shouted, and had great joy. But when it come time for him to get the Holy Ghost, he showed his colors, what he was.

Matthew 24:24 For there shall arise false Christs, and false prophets, and shall shew great signs and wonders; insomuch that, if it were possible, they shall deceive the very elect.

Mark 13:22 For false Christs and false prophets shall rise, and shall shew signs and wonders, to seduce, if it were possible, even the elect.

31 Notice now, Cain---a religious man, a worshipper of God---walked over, and laid down his sacrifice, and got back, and said, "Lord, receive my sacrifice. All this I have done, and You know my regards to You and my faith in You." Look what a religious man he was. "Lord, I've built You a church, and I've paid into it. And I pay heavy on the plate. And I worship You every day with the sincerity and the integrity of my heart; You know me. And I worship You." And God refused him.
Now, if God only respects a membership, a just person, looking in the face of God and worshipping, if God respects that, and that's His requirement, then He would be unjust to condemn Cain after Cain had done all of that. That's exactly right.
But the Scripture says, "There is a way that seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof is the way of death." So be careful, church, while you're in this last days, and things are floating, and these spirits are coming to the head, and the wheat and barley and vines and everything are coming to a head.

Genesis 4:3 And in process of time it came to pass, that Cain brought of the fruit of the ground an offering unto the LORD.

Genesis 4:5 But unto Cain and to his offering he had not respect. And Cain was very wroth, and his countenance fell.

Proverbs 14:12 There is a way which seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death.

Proverbs 16:25 There is a way that seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death.

32 I heard someone, not long ago, condemning the Lutheran age and condemning the Wesley age. That was the vine, just the same as the church is today. But the thing of it was, they was only putting forth leaves then. It's putting forth fruits now. The vine's growed up; the same church. Them was on leaves is still left leaves, but it all makes vine. Like the wheat coming up among the weeds. And the wheat's putting forth its... The wheat's putting forth its fruit, and the weed's putting forth its fruits. We're at the end time. We're at the last days.
Notice this fellow. Then Abel, not trying to be reckoned to God by works or by some justice, but by the Holy Spirit revealing to him that it wasn't fruits or apples that brought us out of the garden of Eden; it was blood. Life lays not in apples. Life lays in blood. And he brought a lamb, little piece of hemp wrapped around its neck... Or no, I guess they had no hemp, probably a vine pulled around his neck, brought him up, and throwed him down on a rock. Nothing pretty about it. Took his little head, and throwed it back, and chopped it with a sharp rock there. And when he was bleeding, and the lamb a bleating, and the wool bathing white, and the poor little lamb dying, God looked down and said, "That's right, Abel." He was justified by his faith in God.

Hebrews 11:4 By faith Abel offered unto God a more excellent sacrifice than Cain, by which he obtained witness that he was righteous, God testifying of his gifts: and by it he being dead yet speaketh.

33 What did that lamb speak of? It spoke of some nineteen hundred years later, when the Lamb of God was led away to the rock of ages, and there with spit hanging off of His beard, and His crown over His brow, the blood trickling down His shoulders, His bloody locks dripping around, crying, "My God, why hast Thou forsaken Me?"
Remember, Abel died on the altar with his lamb. And every man that comes to Christ must die on the same altar Jesus Christ did, on the altar of self sacrifice, forgetting your own ways, forgetting your own reasons, and taking God's Word, and saying, "It's Your Word, Lord, and I believe it," and there die, as Abel did on the rock with his same lamb that he died with ... that died for him, rather.
We die out to Christ on the altars of God's sacrifice. Oh, my! That makes me feel kind of religious, to think: God providing a way. In that I could not save myself. God making a way through Christ, not by works lest any man should boast, but by faith accepting it, and Jehovah God sending down the Holy Spirit, stamping a seal on it as a confirmation. Sealed how long? "Until the day of your redemption," Ephesians 4:30. Amen.

Ephesians 4:30 And grieve not the holy Spirit of God, whereby ye are sealed unto the day of redemption.

34 Now, look at that vine growing up. It started right there on those two spirits from those boys. It comes on down, pro and con, down through the Bible. Even in the ark: There was a dove and a raven sitting on the same roost. The dove can say, "I could fly."
Raven says, "I can too." One can caw, the other one could too.
Noah turned one loose, and he was satisfied (the raven), fly on those old dead bodies and eat. But when he turned the dove loose, she could find no rest for the soles of her feet. And she came back and knocked on the door to get in.
When a man's borned of the Spirit of God, the seed of God remains in him. All desire of sin is taken out. And you mean to tell me, that people can walk around here every day, doing the things they do and still say they're borned of the Spirit of God? Your fruits condemn you.

Genesis 8:7 And he sent forth a raven, which went forth to and fro, until the waters were dried up from off the earth.

Genesis 8:8 Also he sent forth a dove from him, to see if the waters were abated from off the face of the ground;

Genesis 8:9 But the dove found no rest for the sole of her foot, and she returned unto him into the ark, for the waters were on the face of the whole earth: then he put forth his hand, and took her, and pulled her in unto him into the ark.

1 John 3:9 Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin; for his seed remaineth in him: and he cannot sin, because he is born of God.

35 What's the matter with the Pentecostal church today? We've left off teaching those things behind the pulpit and accepted something else. That's the reason we're getting starchy, and the Spirit of God is grieved from us. We used to have old time Holy Ghost meeting, where we got down on the floor, and cried, and begged. And today, we've adopted some sort of a social affair, like the rest of the churches. Amen. That's true. You know it's the truth.
Notice! The dove couldn't find no rest. Why? The dove couldn't eat off of those things. The dove's body is made up different from the crow's body. The dove is one bird that hasn't got a gall. If he'd eat that, it would kill him. He had no gall to digest it.
And when the Spirit of Jesus Christ comes into a man, He gives him the baptism of the Holy Ghost, it makes him a new creature; it takes the gall out of him, and he has no more desire of those things of the world. They've passed away, and everything's become new again. He's a new creature.

2 Corinthians 5:17 Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.

36 It isn't whether I can hold on or not. It's whether He held on. It's not me anyhow; it's Him. Not you; it's Christ. The thing of it is, we're getting ashamed as Joel said. People are ashamed to have the old-fashioned meetings like we used to have. We're afraid somebody sitting next to us should hear us say, "Amen." We got so starchy, and ritual, indifferent. It's pitiful, the condition the church has got in.
Notice! Watch that spirit. Wish we had time to bring it on through, on many things. Let's take it in Israel in their journey, just for a few minutes.

37 Israel, when they come out of Egypt... What a beautiful type here of the two spirits. Israel was a interdenomination. They didn't have any land they could call their own at the time, so they dwelt in tents out across the land. And Moab, the land of Moab, when they wanted to come through there, why, they were not permitted by Moab.
Now, Moab was a brother to Israel. Moab come from Lot's daughter. One of their sons, through by the father. And that's where the land of Moab began.

Genesis 19:36 Thus were both the daughters of Lot with child by their father.

Genesis 19:37 And the firstborn bare a son, and called his name Moab: the same is the father of the Moabites unto this day.

Numbers 20:17 Let us pass, I pray thee, through thy country: we will not pass through the fields, or through the vineyards, neither will we drink of the water of the wells: we will go by the king's high way, we will not turn to the right hand nor to the left, until we have passed thy borders.

Numbers 21:22 Let me pass through thy land: we will not turn into the fields, or into the vineyards; we will not drink of the waters of the well: but we will go along by the king's high way, until we be past thy borders.

38 Now, notice! A man can be ever so fundamental in his doctrine; he can be ever so sincere in his heart (I hope this sinks deep; I want it to.), but unless God confirms it, it's no good. God vindicates. God always has, from back at the beginning, from Abel, plumb on to the ending over here in Revelations, you'll find out that God a vindicates His church with signs and wonders as the believers.
Believers always have signs and wonders among them. Jesus said, in Saint Mark the 16th chapter, "These signs shall follow them to the end of the world. They that believe and is baptized shall be saved. He that believeth not shall be damned. These signs shall follow them that believe: In My name they shall cast out devils, speak with new tongues; if they take up serpents or drink deadly things, it'll not harm them. If they lay hands on the sick, they shall recover."
And today, the churches... You preach that doctrine, they take the confirmation is a man that goes to church, good, quiet, religious type of man, pays his tithes, supporter to the church, believes in the church. Brother, that's no sign at all. That's the world's sign. But God's sign is what He said it was. Amen.

Mark 16:16 He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned.

Mark 16:17 And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues;

Mark 16:18 They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover.

39 Here comes Israel up through the wilderness, walking in God's provided way. Hallelujah! If I get a little emotional, will you excuse me? Anything without emotion is dead. I once was dead, but I'm made alive, quickened by Christ Jesus. When I walked in those old formal orders back there one day, the Lord pulled me out of it.
And here comes Cain now, the fundamentalist. If God only requires fundamentalism, Cain was just as fundamental as Abel was when it comes to worship, sacrifice, altars, and religion. Cain was just as fundamental as Abel was. And if God only requires sincerity, fundamentalism, Cain was justified. But God vindicated the believer by a sign.

40 Notice, here comes Israel on the march. And now, they come up to the land of Moab; they wanted to pass. And they had a prophet over in the land of Moab. And he was Balaam. Balak was the king. And Balak sent over to Moab to get the head official of the church. He said, "Come down and curse this people that's coming up like swarms out of Egypt, that they pass not through the land." He wouldn't let them go through the land. "Come down and put a curse on them."
And notice, when this preacher started, the Holy Spirit told him quickly not to go, for he heard that there was all kinds of mix-up among them. They had married, intermarried, and everything else and the evils that they had, because they'd been down in the lands of heathens.

Numbers 22:11 Behold, there is a people come out of Egypt, which covereth the face of the earth: come now, curse me them; peradventure I shall be able to overcome them, and drive them out.

Numbers 22:12 And God said unto Balaam, Thou shalt not go with them; thou shalt not curse the people: for they are blessed.

Numbers 22:17 For I will promote thee unto very great honour, and I will do whatsoever thou sayest unto me: come therefore, I pray thee, curse me this people.

41 And Balak, being a ... or, Balaam, rather, a great man, thought surely that a holy God like God would curse such a people as that. But he failed to see the sign over Israel, God's vindication: A smitten rock, and the brass serpent, making an atonement for their sins. And he comes down. And on his road down, the Holy Spirit met him. And a mule spoke in unknown tongues and tried to turn him back. God speaking through a mule! Could you imagine, the mule turn around speaking in English, or whatever---a voice. He was speaking to the prophet.
All right. See God's sign? Don't be blind. Have your eyes open. Pluck your soul a little bit.

Numbers 22:21 And Balaam rose up in the morning, and saddled his ass, and went with the princes of Moab.

Numbers 22:22 And God's anger was kindled because he went: and the angel of the LORD stood in the way for an adversary against him. Now he was riding upon his ass, and his two servants were with him.

Numbers 22:23 And the ass saw the angel of the LORD standing in the way, and his sword drawn in his hand: and the ass turned aside out of the way, and went into the field: and Balaam smote the ass, to turn her into the way.

Numbers 22:24 But the angel of the LORD stood in a path of the vineyards, a wall being on this side, and a wall on that side.

Numbers 22:25 And when the ass saw the angel of the LORD, she thrust herself unto the wall, and crushed Balaam's foot against the wall: and he smote her again.

Numbers 22:26 And the angel of the LORD went further, and stood in a narrow place, where was no way to turn either to the right hand or to the left.

Numbers 22:27 And when the ass saw the angel of the LORD, she fell down under Balaam: and Balaam's anger was kindled, and he smote the ass with a staff.

Numbers 22:28 And the LORD opened the mouth of the ass, and she said unto Balaam, What have I done unto thee, that thou hast smitten me these three times?

Numbers 22:29 And Balaam said unto the ass, Because thou hast mocked me: I would there were a sword in mine hand, for now would I kill thee.

Numbers 22:30 And the ass said unto Balaam, Am not I thine ass, upon which thou hast ridden ever since I was thine unto this day? was I ever wont to do so unto thee? And he said, Nay.

42 Notice, and when he got down there... Here it is; here's the shocking part. When Balaam come down, being a fundamentalist, over on this side. Here's Israel over on this side; the vindicated one, the fundamental one.
Now, notice that Balaam was just as fundamental in his worship as Moses was. Balaam required seven altars. That's what God required Moses. He required seven clean sacrifices, bullocks, and not only that, but seven rams, (rams speaking of their faith that Jesus was coming---the lamb, the ram, he-sheep, see.) He put it... He's just as fundamental...

Numbers 23:1 And Balaam said unto Balak, Build me here seven altars, and prepare me here seven oxen and seven rams.

Numbers 23:29 And Balaam said unto Balak, Build me here seven altars, and prepare me here seven bullocks and seven rams.

43 Now, it becomes to being fundamental, down there in the valley there stood Israel in camps. And they had their seven altars with seven sacrifices, same kind of sacrifices. Here's this, up here, another group up here: the same kind of altars, same kind of sacrifice, same kind of ceremony.
Brother, if God requires fundamentalism, then He's got to accept that man just the same as He accepts that man. You talk to fundamentalists today, that don't believe in divine healing. Talk to fundamentalists; they don't believe in the baptism of the Holy Spirit with signs and wonders. Be careful how you talk to them. They say, "We believe in the death, burial and resurrection. We believe in the second coming of Christ." They preach it. And the nation has been roared with it. And evangelists has went everywhere preaching it. And they wonder why we can't have a revival. It's, brothers, because we're not preaching it in the right way. I'm nobody to say it. But I know what God's Word says is the truth. Right.

44 If they'd keep them people and raise up, say, "I make a decision... I'll raise up and make a decision," or raise up their hand to serve the Lord. If they'd put them down at the altar, and let them pray there till they come through with the baptism of the Holy Ghost, they'd stay put. But how they going to do it, when they just say, under a little spell of emotion, raise up their hands. I've seen people in the prayer line do the same thing.
But let the devil give them a attack of a good hard suffering after that, they fall back and say, "Well, I failed to get it." That man who knows where he's standing knows he was in the presence of God, said, "Get away, Satan. I believe God." He moves on.
Now, looky here. That bunch, I can hear, Balaam the great prophet ... or, hear Balak the king, say, "Come down and curse this people." The fundamentalist trying to curse the holy-rollers... That's right. You say, "You mean to tell me that Israel was holy-rollers?" Yes, they was.
Brother, the same kind of spirit was on them that day, is on what they call holy-rollers today. It's coming right on up. You say, "How... Can you prove that?" Yes, sir. When they crossed through the river down there, the Red Sea, and got on the other side, Moses got so in the Spirit till he sang in the Spirit. And Miriam jerked up a tambourine, and went down the banks, dancing, beating a tambourine, the daughters of Israel following her, beating tambourines and dancing. If that ain't an old time holy-roller meeting, I never seen one. Right.
That's the same Spirit's in the church today, that they call holy-rollers. So I say that they was holy-rollers to the world.

Exodus 15:20 And Miriam the prophetess, the sister of Aaron, took a timbrel in her hand; and all the women went out after her with timbrels and with dances.

Numbers 22:11 Behold, there is a people come out of Egypt, which covereth the face of the earth: come now, curse me them; peradventure I shall be able to overcome them, and drive them out.

Numbers 22:17 For I will promote thee unto very great honour, and I will do whatsoever thou sayest unto me: come therefore, I pray thee, curse me this people.

45 I can hear the king say, "Now, you know we're a dignified bunch. We're a great organization. We've got the whole thing behind us here. We're a nation. That bunch of tent dwellers, and interdenominationals down there, holy-rollers, let's put a curse on them. Let's stop them from all this racket they got."
And so he brought the prophet down, and he showed him the utmost parts, the hinder parts of Israel, the worst part of it.
And I wonder today, that in the hearts of many a good Baptist, Methodist, Presbyterian, Lutheran, Nazarene, Pilgrim Holiness, I wonder if the pastor hasn't referred to you about these bunch of holy-rollers, the very worst part he could find. He hasn't said nothing about the good part: the blind receiving their sight, the deaf hearing, and people being saved, filled with joy.

Numbers 22:41 And it came to pass on the morrow, that Balak took Balaam, and brought him up into the high places of Baal, that thence he might see the utmost part of the people.

Numbers 23:13 And Balak said unto him, Come, I pray thee, with me unto another place, from whence thou mayest see them: thou shalt see but the utmost part of them, and shalt not see them all: and curse me them from thence.

46 The utmost parts, showed him the utmost parts, and when old Balaam went forth to make his sacrifice, come back, God said, "You speak just what I put in your mouth." Now, it's not the prophet speaking no more; it's God. He said, "I have not seen him from the utmost, but I beheld him from the hilltops. And I have not conceived iniquity in Jacob." Hallelujah.
Let them say what they want to; as long as God's looking from the hilltop, what do you care about what people's got to say? Hallelujah! Long as Jesus sits on the ramparts of glory looking down and He said, "These signs shall follow them that believe," let them call you holy-roller or anything they want to. God's beholding the scene. Amen.

Numbers 23:16 And the LORD met Balaam, and put a word in his mouth, and said, Go again unto Balak, and say thus.

Numbers 23:21 He hath not beheld iniquity in Jacob, neither hath he seen perverseness in Israel: the LORD his God is with him, and the shout of a king is among them.

Mark 16:17 And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues;

47 See these two coming up together? There they was, right along about here now. One's fundamental, just as fundamental as Cain was, just as fundamental as Abel was. And here they are just as fundamental as Moses, so was Balaam, both of them, the same sacrifice.
Perhaps I'd make it like this, for today: Both reading out of the same Bible. What made the difference? If they were fundamental, if they were church members, if they were believers on God... They wasn't worshipping an idol. They were worshipping God, the same God they were worshipping. But the difference of it was, they had glory down here; they had signs, wonders, and miracles; and they had nothing but fundamentalism, see. Hallelujah! They had a pillar of fire hanging over them. They had signs and wonders in the camp. When they got sick, they had a healing Rock. Hallelujah. God was vindicating His people. Both of them was fundamental, but He said, "This is it."
God's doing the same thing today. Hallelujah. That vine's coming on up, going on up through the clouds now. We're getting ready for the rapture.

48 See where it started in Genesis. Here they are fundamental, ritualistic, beautiful, big churches, orthodox people (my!) in their beliefs, sure. But there's no signs following. Jesus said, "These signs will follow them." It's come from Genesis and going in to Revelations, the same thing.
I'm so glad that I can say I'm one of them, by the grace of God. Wouldn't swap it for nothing in the world. Oh, sure, they call me this, that, or the other. That don't make any difference what they call me. God calls me His son. Amen. That's the main thing.
I seen that little old girl, that time---David's wife---that hid behind her fan, and fanning like that, and she thought David, her sweetheart, was the cutest little thing. But when the ark come in, and David saw it, a revival was in session. Little old David went down there and danced around the ark, as hard as he could go. "Why," she said, "you embarrass me. My, well, I'll have the general council to put you out. Why, you embarrass me."
He said, "If you don't like that, here, watch this." And down he went and around and around and around and around the ark he went, rejoicing, happy, shouting, praising God, and rejoicing. Hallelujah. Said, "If you don't like that, watch this."
God looked down out of heaven, He said, "David, you're a man after My own heart." Hallelujah. So it don't make any difference what the world says; it's what God says. Amen.

1 Samuel 13:14 But now thy kingdom shall not continue: the LORD hath sought him a man after his own heart, and the LORD hath commanded him to be captain over his people, because thou hast not kept that which the LORD commanded thee.

2 Samuel 6:14 And David danced before the LORD with all his might; and David was girded with a linen ephod.

2 Samuel 6:15 So David and all the house of Israel brought up the ark of the LORD with shouting, and with the sound of the trumpet.

2 Samuel 6:16 And as the ark of the LORD came into the city of David, Michal Saul's daughter looked through a window, and saw king David leaping and dancing before the LORD; and she despised him in her heart.

2 Samuel 6:20 Then David returned to bless his household. And Michal the daughter of Saul came out to meet David, and said, How glorious was the king of Israel to day, who uncovered himself to day in the eyes of the handmaids of his servants, as one of the vain fellows shamelessly uncovereth himself!

2 Samuel 6:22 And I will yet be more vile than thus, and will be base in mine own sight: and of the maidservants which thou hast spoken of, of them shall I be had in honour.

Mark 16:17 And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues;

49 There comes your vines, coming on up. Yes, sir. Quickly, our time's getting away.
Notice, when Jesus was here on earth, them orthodox believers was just as orthodox as Jesus was. But God vindicated Jesus Christ. Peter said in Acts the 2nd chapter, I believe it was, "Ye men of Israel, Jesus of Nazareth, a man approved of God among you (How? By His great orthodox teaching? No, sir. By His ways of dignity? No. How did He prove it?) by signs and wonders, which He did in the midst of all of you, as you know yourselves." God vindicated Jesus Christ to be His hand-piece here on earth by signs and wonders. Is that right?

Acts 2:22 Ye men of Israel, hear these words; Jesus of Nazareth, a man approved of God among you by miracles and wonders and signs, which God did by him in the midst of you, as ye yourselves also know:

50 Look at the great Saint Paul. He looked through the eyes of God. By the Holy Spirit (Here it is.) he seen these two vines coming up into the end. "And it shall come to pass in the last days, perilous times shall come. Men shall be lovers of theirselves, proud, boasters, blasphemers, heady, high-minded, lovers of pleasure more than lovers of God, trucebreakers, incontinent, fierce, and despisers of those that are good (holy-rollers), despisers of those that are good."
"Oh," you say, "Brother Branham, that sure was communist." No, sir. That was fundamentalists; that was believers. "How do you know, Brother Branham?" The next verse. "Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof; from such turn away."
Do you believe Paul had the Spirit of God on him? Paul said, "If an angel from heaven (in Galatians 1:8) would come and teach anything else, let him be accursed." But the Angel of God and the power of God will always recognize the Bible is right. Amen.

Galatians 1:8 But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed.

2 Timothy 3:4 Traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God;

2 Timothy 3:5 Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away.

51 Here we are living in the last days. Fundamentalism's sure going to seed. They know all the ins and outs and all the Bible, just as good as Satan did when he quoted it to Jesus. They did. They know it today. And they made fun of the signs and wonders, saying the days of miracles is past, trying to sign orders in cities and so forth to stop divine healing and the power of God.
Why, brother, could you imagine trying to put out a fire on a windy day and the wind high? My, oh, my! They tried to burn it out of a man one time; they tried to feed it to lions; and the lions wouldn't eat it. They tried to feed the Holy Ghost to a lion. Did you imagine that? They put it in a vat of oil and tried to burn it up. They throwed it in the fiery furnace, but it's still burning today, and will till Jesus comes. Hallelujah. Right.

52 Oh, to see the day... Joel said, "What the palmerworm left, the caterpillar eaten. What the caterpillar left, the locust eaten." Oh, God's heritage is eaten down, eaten down. What the Lutheran's left, the Baptist's eaten. What the Baptist's left, the Methodist's eaten. What the Methodist's left, the other caterpillar eaten: Nazarenes, Pilgrim Holiness, and even the Pentecost. What a dark picture.
But God said, "I will restore, saith the Lord."
I come back from Africa. Brother Baxter and I, we were so tired. We went way in northern British Columbia for a little while, after a meeting up there, to hunt a little while. We was back in the wilderness.

Joel 1:4 That which the palmerworm hath left hath the locust eaten; and that which the locust hath left hath the cankerworm eaten; and that which the cankerworm hath left hath the caterpillar eaten.

Joel 2:25 And I will restore to you the years that the locust hath eaten, the cankerworm, and the caterpillar, and the palmerworm, my great army which I sent among you.

53 I'd been back there about fifteen, sixteen days. One day I was chasing an old grizzly bear on my horse, and I got lost. On the road back that night, I thought, Lord, what'd You let me get lost for?
God always does everything perfect. And I wondered, Why did I get lost? I couldn't understand it. Well, it got dark on me, and I was following a little old deer trail. I thought if I'd get to a high place, there's some clouds going over, the moon would come out once in awhile. I thought if I got to a high place, then I could see. But all looked about the same when I'd get to a high place.

54 So I crossed a little branch, and I said, "Yeah, I remember this now." And I started on up. My horse was tired. And there was a big old blow down there, a burn-over where an old fire had went through years ago and burnt all the trees and everything. Did you ever see an old burn-over? Great big old sticks sticking up, like that, old trees that once was big trees, standing there.
And the first thing you know, the moon came out from behind the clouds, and if you ever seen a spooky looking place. Them great big old trees, and they were just as slick and bare, and white as they could be; looked like tombstones. And about that time there come a wind, coming down. And the wind went through them. They went, "Mmmmmmm." I thought, Oh, my. This sure is the funniest place. I thought, Lord, what did You bring me up here for?
Seemed like the Holy Ghost said, "Tie up your horse a minute; I'll tell you."
So I got off my horse, tied him up, got down and prayed, went over and set down on a log. I begin to study. I thought this great beautiful forest, I'd been winding my way through today, beating my way through the timbers and things. And look at this: was one time a great forest. And look, it's all like great big tombstones, big old white trees, all blistered.

55 And about that time, the wind blowed again. It went, "Mmmmmmm." I thought, How mournful.
And then the Holy Spirit begin to speak to me, said, "Them trees can say, 'One time we were trees.'"
"But why don't they act like trees now?"
"Because the life has been eat out of them, because the fires of time has burned them down."
I thought, Yes, Lord. That's about like some of these big old churches around here: stuck up with a great big lot of steeple. One time they had a big revival in the days of the Methodists. They had in the days of the Baptists. But, brother, the only thing they got now is a great big bunch of mournful looking tombstones.
And when that rushing mighty wind comes out of heaven, it goes between them; the only thing they do, holler, "Mmmmmm, oh, the days of miracles is past, mmmmmm. Mmmmmmm, there is no such a thing as speaking in tongues; that was just for the disciples, mmmmmm." And the wind a blowing just as hard as it could, they couldn't give. They're dead.

56 Why, I thought, Lord, what are You going to do about it? And this Scripture come in my mind. I said, "Someday I will preach on that, Lord, if You give me words, 'cause I know that's what You're doing it for now." And I happened to wonder, Why You send the wind if they're going to act like that?
But I happened to look, and the Lord said, "I will restore."
Way down underneath them big old sparring pines there, where once was big trees, full of frolic, out of there come a bunch of undergrowth (What the world calls today, backwash. Oh, my.), a bunch of little pine trees coming up. And when that wind hit them, they didn't just stand there and go "Mmmmmm." They begin to frolic, and jump, and [unclear word]. I thought, Praise God that God said, "I will restore. I'll raise up a church that'll praise Me." Hallelujah. "Right out from under them, I will bring up another store; I will restore, saith the Lord." Amen.

57 Then I thought, Yes, that looks like a good old pentecostal meeting. When the Holy Ghost began to fall like a rushing mighty wind, signs and wonders begin to follow. The little trees with life in them can frolic, and give, and jump, and rejoice, and praise God.
But the big old stiff starchy: "Ohhhh, we don't believe in no such. It's of the devil. Mmmmmmm."
Oh, my. "I will restore, saith the Lord." What does a good old time shaking do to the church? It only loosens up the root, so it can go deeper and firmer in the powers of the Lord. Hallelujah!

58 The rain follow, loosened up and the leaves go forth. It's flexible; when the Spirit moves, it moves with it. Flexible, back and forth, and frolic, and jump, and carry on, like the Methodists used to, like the Baptists used to do. But they [unclear words].
The fires of persecution have burnt them, and the members has come in, got ritualistic form, and ungodliness, and burnt the bark off of them. And they're nothing but a dead bunch of representatives, only to groan, and moan, and make a lot of fussing about something God's doing.

59 But there's the undergrowth coming up. "I will restore, saith the Lord. All that the disciples had, I will restore. All that they did back there, I will restore, saith the Lord."
I said, "Thank you, Lord." And I had a spasm, nearly, out there. My horse like to run away. I jumped up on the log. I shouted. I screamed. I run down a path. I jumped up-and-down, throwed my hat up in the air and shot my gun up in the air, screamed. Somebody'd thought they had a maniac out there.
What was it? "I will restore, saith the Lord." I was glad that that Holy Ghost was moving in my heart right then. And it is now too. "I will restore, saith the Lord."

Joel 2:25 And I will restore to you the years that the locust hath eaten, the cankerworm, and the caterpillar, and the palmerworm, my great army which I sent among you.

60 Oh, that what the... They took out a healing out of here. They took shouting out of here. They took speaking in tongues out of here. They took prophecy out of here. "But I will restore, saith the Lord." Amen. I feel religious. My, I feel twice my size now.
[Gap in the audio] " I will restore, saith the Lord." Do you see where the churches are? They're right up into the vine, right up into the end time. Let's see. My, we got to close.
Do you love Him with all your heart? Are you glad that your spirit is fresh today, that when the Lord sends a great big revival, somebody comes to town, preaching the old-fashioned revival, you churches go together, and the Lord just sending the Holy Ghost and you're flexible, just growing in the grace of God, moving on?
Let them moan and groan. See where they come from? "Oh," they say, "let me tell you something here. I am a tree. I once stood..." Oh, yes, you was. That's right. But you once was, but what are you now?

Joel 2:25 And I will restore to you the years that the locust hath eaten, the cankerworm, and the caterpillar, and the palmerworm, my great army which I sent among you.

61 John Wesley, when he was here in America, riding to pray for a sick woman one day, his horse stumbled, and fell, and broke its leg. John took his anointing oil, and anointed the horse, and said, "You made that horse the same as You made me." Got on him, and rode it, and rode him away.
That's what the Methodists had, what your mother had long time ago. But it's died out. "But I will restore, saith the Lord." God will send His power. God will send somebody that will accept it.

Joel 2:25 And I will restore to you the years that the locust hath eaten, the cankerworm, and the caterpillar, and the palmerworm, my great army which I sent among you.

I will restore (1955-06-26 Evening) (William M. Branham Sermons)

I will restore (1955-06-26 Evening) (William M. Branham Sermons) somebody

I will restore

1 The next time coming, I pray that I can stay a long time. It's too short, this stay. The reason ... that's the reason people doesn't get it as well as they do. I'm a stranger; the message that I have becomes strange to you. But you have done wonderful. It's way more than I thought it would be. And I appreciate your kind cooperation.
I want to thank Doctor Guggenbuhl. What a wonderful help he has been, setting the meeting up. Has never did it before, and he has never seen a meeting like this before; and he's done a real good job. And I wanted to thank all the ministers for their cooperation. I want to thank the organist, and the pianist; and what a wonderful job they have did. For the choir, and the solos, I have heard many of you singing, while standing behind the curtain---some of the best singing I ever heard in my life. I expect to hear you singing in Glory when I get...
The meeting has been too short, though. But maybe the next time, well, we can stay longer, and we can have more time to get the arrangements. When the other American minister was here, Mr. Graham, of course, it was all set up for his meeting. You see, he had the cooperation of every church. They all come out.

2 My ministry is not like that. It has to stand on its merits alone. So, just the Lord has to stand with me. I don't have an organization to stand behind me. I have to stand alone with Jesus. And I'm thanking God for your cooperation. Many of you are from different churches and perhaps criticized for coming here, but you've come anyhow. God bless you.
I'm sorry that the churches wouldn't cooperate with us. I didn't mean to be rude. I love my brethren. And of course, I don't belong to their denomination, and you can see why. I could still be in one of the church denominations. If I would, all the influence I'd have, would go to that one denomination. I believe Jesus had children in all the churches. Don't you believe that? Amen. Jesus looks for the pure in heart. He said, "The pure in heart shall see God."

3 Now, I have looked for a greater results in the healing, but we have to remember that the sick people has never seen this before. And with many of the churches saying, "It's of the devil," well, you could expect their faith to be weakened. Well, but... And in spite of all of that, God has made a wonderful showing, and many thousands have come to Christ. If I'd have been a critic against it, I would repent. I would repent after this. Seeing people come to the Lord, and then see all the sickness that's been healed.
Now, mark my words down in your heart: After I'm gone a long time, there will be people that sat here in wheelchairs, will walk around. Many that's sick will be made well. It's always that way. You see, when the Holy Spirit is blessing the audience, I just can't call them fast enough. I just can't get to them quick enough. But the Holy Spirit knows who they are. So, you just keep real humble and keep believing.

4 Now, I want to thank every one of you again. And I'll be praying for you, as I go to my home across the sea. I'll always remember this, and be expecting to return someday. God be with you.
Now, I have a little question to ask. And I'm sure that everyone will try to understand. I do not like to be rude, but I have to answer something that was written to me. Was concerning a little pamphlet that was passed. The Scriptures was misinterpreted. The gentleman who wrote it certainly didn't know much about the Bible. I've got a girl at home, eight years old; he better never question her on those things. She knows more about it than that, and she's eight years old.

5 When he spoke ... when they spoke in the pamphlet (I guess you noticed it), called me, "Simon the sorcerer." Now, friend, you know I'm not Simon the sorcerer . And by the way, Simon the Sorcerer wasn't the one that done the healing; it was the other way. It was Philip done the healing.
Simon the sorcerer had a church, it was a formal church, perhaps a state church, and he had them all bound down. And they didn't have no joy. They didn't have any power. But when Philip come down, he preached to them Christ, resurrected. Great joy came, and healing came. And then Simon wanted to buy that power. See how backward they had it? It was the formal stiff one that had the ... was doing the sorcery; not the healing, or the power of the Holy Ghost. It was just vice versa.

6 And then when the question was said, on the piece of paper, that Jesus... They said that a weak and adulterous generation seeks after signs (Matthew 12:39). Did you notice he never quoted 38? Look who come: It was the stiff, starchy church; the Pharisees walked back with their collars back, and said, "We would desire a sign from You."
Jesus didn't clown for them. He said, "You only have one sign to you; as Jonah was in the belly of the whale, well, so will the Son of man be." That was their sign, and they didn't believe it. They wouldn't believe it now. And then they said that... Jesus said that "Many will come to Me in that day, and say, 'Lord, Lord, have not I prophesied in Your name? Haven't I cast out devils in Your name? and done many mighty works in your name?' And I will say unto them, 'Depart from Me; I did not know you.'"

Matthew 7:22 Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works?

Matthew 7:23 And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.

Matthew 12:38 Then certain of the scribes and of the Pharisees answered, saying, Master, we would see a sign from thee.

Matthew 12:39 But he answered and said unto them, An evil and adulterous generation seeketh after a sign; and there shall no sign be given to it, but the sign of the prophet Jonas:

Matthew 16:4 A wicked and adulterous generation seeketh after a sign; and there shall no sign be given unto it, but the sign of the prophet Jonas. And he left them, and departed.

Luke 11:29 And when the people were gathered thick together, he began to say, This is an evil generation: they seek a sign; and there shall no sign be given it, but the sign of Jonas the prophet.

7 Now, brother, if you can't see ... interpret that, it's either the theology's wrong, or you're suffering with a mental weakness. Jesus said, "They will say to me, 'I have preached in Your name, and done works in your name.'" Jesus said, "If you did, I knowed nothing about it. I never knew it." They claim they done it, but they didn't get the results.
Listen, friends. If Jesus sent His disciples forward to preach the gospel and to heal the sick, and then turn around at the judgment day and condemn them for doing what He said do, what kind of a Christ would He be? The only thing it is... I have debated infidels; they take the Bible, too. But they just pick one little place here, then pick another one over here, to prove their point. We have to take it from Genesis to Revelations.

8 See, the Bible is like a jigsaw puzzle. You might pick up a piece, say, "It goes down here." But it might not; it might go up here. Therefore all of God's Word has to coordinate from Genesis to Revelation. The first commission Jesus gave to His church was, "Heal the sick, raise the dead, cleanse the lepers, cast out devils. As freely as you have received, freely give." Matthew 10.
The last commission Jesus gave to His church... Listen, friend; the last words that fell from the sacred lips of Jesus, said, "Go into all the world," that's Zurich, everywhere, "and preach the Gospel. These signs shall follow them that believe." Now, these signs may not follow them; He said, "These signs shall follow them."

Matthew 10:8 Heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead, cast out devils: freely ye have received, freely give.

Mark 16:15 And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.

Mark 16:17 And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues;

9 Watch. What signs? Organizing churches? He never commissioned that in all the world. God's church never was organized. That's man's doings, to keep God out. He never said, "Build seminaries." He didn't say that was a sign would follow. Here's the sign He said would follow (Mark 16, the last words from His lips), He said, "In My name they shall cast out devils, they shall speak with new tongues; if they would take up a serpent, or deadly thing, it would not harm them. And if they lay their hands on the sick, they shall recover." That's the last words that ever fell from Jesus' mouth. He was received up in glory.

Mark 16:17 And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues;

Mark 16:18 They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover.

10 And the Bible says that the disciples went forth preaching the Word, God working with them, with signs following. Is that the Scripture? Then, if Jesus turns around and said, "Because you cast out devils and done mighty works in My name, get out of My way, you worked iniquity," what kind of a Jesus would He be? There's nothing wrong with Jesus; it's wrong with His preachers. There's where the trouble lays, not in Jesus or His Word. Jesus said, "I will be with you; the things that I do shall you also, even greater (more), for I go to My Father." For, when He was here, He was in one man, now He can be all over the world, in every man that will let Him.

John 14:12 Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father.

11 No, their argument is too weak, friend. Look, the Scripture has to come together, from one side of the Scripture to the other. All of it has to be put together to make the picture complete. Now, let's take divine healing tonight, and the working of miracles; and take it in Genesis and bring it back to Revelations, and see if it's in the Word of God.
Can we pray?
Dear Heavenly Father, before us here is many handkerchiefs. We pray Your blessings upon each. God, grant that every one will be healed. I bless these handkerchiefs, as Your servant, in the Name of Jesus Christ, Your Son, that Your blessings will go with them and heal the sick. In Jesus' name I pray. Father, open Thy Word to us tonight. And I pray that You will speak to every heart, through Thy Word. In Jesus' name I pray. Amen. [Gap in the audio]

12 My, I have no notes to preach from. I preach by inspiration. And I have to keep saying it just as fast as it comes. So, it makes it pretty hard. Now, my interpreter is going to read from Joel, the first chapter, the first verse, until the fifth verse, and then from the eleventh to the twelfth.
The word of the Lord that came to Joel the son of Pethuel.
Hear this, ye old men, and give ear, all ye inhabitants of the land. Hath this been in your days, or even in the days of your fathers?
Tell ye your children of it, and let your children tell their children, and their children another generation.
That which the palmerworm hath left hath the locust eaten; and that which the locust hath left hath the cankerworm eaten; and that which the cankerworm hath left hath the caterpillar eaten.
Awake, ye drunkards, and weep; and howl, all ye drinkers of wine, because of the new wine; for it is cut off from your mouth.
Be ye ashamed, O ye husbandmen; howl, O ye vinedressers, for the wheat and for the barley; because the harvest of the field is perished.
The vine is dried up, and the fig tree languisheth; the pomegranate tree, the palm tree also, and the apple tree, even all the trees of the field, are withered: because joy is withered away from the sons of men.
Now, in Joel 2, and the 25th verse, is my text for the night.
And I will restore to you the years that the locust hath eaten, the cankerworm, and the caterpillar, and the palmerworm, my great army which I sent among you.

Joel 1:5 Awake, ye drunkards, and weep; and howl, all ye drinkers of wine, because of the new wine, for it is cut off from your mouth.

Joel 2:25 And I will restore to you the years that the locust hath eaten, the cankerworm, and the caterpillar, and the palmerworm, my great army which I sent among you.

13 "I will restore again, saith the Lord."
Now, let us not be nervous, being the closing night of the service. Let's just take our time, and just lay the Scripture right out plainly, clearly. And now all the sick, be listening close. And all the well, listen close.
Now, next week you will be at liberty to be at home and think it over. Now this is not said for criticism; this is said for the kingdom of God. Now, Joel here was speaking of God's heritage. God has likened His heritage, likened it unto a tree, like an olive tree. And He's likened it unto a branch and a vine. Yes.

14 Now, we pray that God will let you see what He's trying to get in view tonight. I'm going to show a sign, so that you'll understand. Now, I'm going to lay this bunch of papers here. I'm going to lay this bunch of papers here. Now, I want to use those in a few moments, in teaching. And we'll see whether the supernatural and the message I'm preaching to you, whether it is in God's Word or not.
Now, the book of Genesis is the beginning. The very word Genesis means "beginning." Now, everything began in Genesis. Evil began in Genesis; good began in Genesis. Life began in Genesis; death began in Genesis. The creation began in Genesis. Every religion began in Genesis. Every spirit started in Genesis.

15 Now, now, let's go back to Genesis to find out where we should start from. It's just like if your house was leaning: There's something wrong with the foundation. Let's go back to the foundation and work up.
Now, there was two people in the garden of Eden, and they were Adam and Eve, both creative beings by God. And the first child was born, was Cain. The second was born, was Abel. Now, let's stop. Now, there come two mortal beings in the world. The two first born people in the world, was Cain on my left, and Able on my right.

16 Now there's two spirits in those two boys. If they was alive, they had to have spirit. Now, one of them was of the devil. And the next one was of God. It's exactly perfect: Judas and Jesus. Just as Cain killed Abel at the altar, so did Judas kill Jesus at the altar: All the Bible is one big picture.
Now, when they were put out of the garden of Eden because of sin, now those two boys, the one on my left and the one on my right, Cain and Abel; now, they both wanted to find favor with God. Now, listen close and do not misunderstand. I'm going to take my time, so you will be sure to understand.
Now, Cain and Abel both come to worship the Lord. Cain built a church; he built an altar. An altar is a place of worship. And Cain brought a sacrifice. And Cain believed God. And Cain worshipped God. So, if God only requires for you to belong to church, make a confession in Him, and to bring an offering to Him, and sacrifice to Him, He would be unjust to condemn Cain.

17 Abel brought an al... made an altar, he worshipped and brought a sacrifice. Both boys did the same thing. Cain wasn't infidel; he was a very religious man. Did you know what the Bible says about the antichrist? "It would be so close like the real, it would deceive the very elect if possible."
Now, they profess religion. Cain was very religious. He made a confession to God. He built a church to God. He knelt down and worshipped God. Isn't that just about like the religious people do today? They go to church. They belong to church. They bring their money to church. They sing hymns to God, and they worship God. But Cain, in doing the same thing, was condemned.

18 The Bible said, "There is a way that seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof is the ways of death." So just worship and confession doesn't make you a Christian. No. If it was, God would have never condemned Cain.
Now notice, Cain liked beauty. He made his altar pretty; he brought the fruits of the field on it. Beauty is deceitful. That's what started the trouble in heaven. The devil wanted more beautiful kingdom than Michael. But, he was kicked out. Now, you see the spirit of the devil was in Cain, a religious man, confessing his faith in God, but worshipping God, and was condemned of the devil.

Proverbs 14:12 There is a way which seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death.

Proverbs 16:25 There is a way that seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death.

19 Listen to my voice. I'm warning. A man's got to be born again. He's lost till he is. Jesus said, "Except a man be born again, he will in no wise enter the kingdom." See, Cain was religious, and he came to make his offering. He fixed his altar, bowed before Jehovah, and worshipped Him. [Gap in the audio.]
That spirit out of Cain, religious, we're going to bring it through the Bible. Watch what it did in all ages, how it builds great churches, great shrines, great crowds, but still out of God's will.
Now, here comes Abel with a grapevine wrapped around a lamb's neck. Not fruit of the field; he was bringing a life. And he led him up to the altar. Nothing beauty about that. Throwed the little lamb up on the altar, took a rock (They didn't have any knives in that day.), pulled the little lamb's head back, and begin to chop it with a rock, across the throat.

John 3:3 Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.

John 3:5 Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.

20 And the little lamb began bleating, and began dying, and the blood spurting from its throat. Nothing beauty about that, but it was the way of life, accepting for his death. Notice, see, Cain thought God would accept the big things, the beauty, the big church. And Abel, the only way that he could ever... Mark this down. The only way Abel would have knowed to offer a lamb, it had to be revealed to him by God. Amen.
Listen, that is true today. The Word of God doesn't come by seminary learning; it's a spiritual revelation.
Let's take the New Testament a moment. When Jesus speaking to His disciples, He said, "Who do you say I am? Who does man say I am?"
"Some said thou art Elias, some Moses, some the great prophet."
But Jesus said, "Who do you say I am?"
Then Peter stood up and said, "Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God."

Matthew 16:13 When Jesus came into the coasts of Caesarea Philippi, he asked his disciples, saying, Whom do men say that I the Son of man am?

Matthew 16:14 And they said, Some say that thou art John the Baptist: some, Elias; and others, Jeremias, or one of the prophets.

Matthew 16:15 He saith unto them, But whom say ye that I am?

Matthew 16:16 And Simon Peter answered and said, Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God.

Mark 8:27 And Jesus went out, and his disciples, into the towns of Caesarea Philippi: and by the way he asked his disciples, saying unto them, Whom do men say that I am?

Mark 8:28 And they answered, John the Baptist: but some say, Elias; and others, One of the prophets.

Mark 8:29 And he saith unto them, But whom say ye that I am? And Peter answereth and saith unto him, Thou art the Christ.

Luke 9:18 And it came to pass, as he was alone praying, his disciples were with him: and he asked them, saying, Whom say the people that I am?

Luke 9:19 They answering said, John the Baptist; but some say, Elias; and others say, that one of the old prophets is risen again.

Luke 9:20 He said unto them, But whom say ye that I am? Peter answering said, The Christ of God.

21 Notice, the Catholic church said, "It was a rock that He built His church on there." The Protestant church said, "He built it upon Himself, Christ Jesus."
But, listen what Jesus said, after Peter confessed Him to be the Son of God. He said, "Blessed art thou, Simon Bar-jonas, for flesh and blood has not revealed it to you. You never learned it in a church. You never learned it in a seminary. Flesh and blood never revealed it to you. But My father which is in heaven has revealed it to you. And upon this rock I will build My church, and the gates of hell can't prevail against it." Is that right? Say, "Amen."

Matthew 16:17 And Jesus answered and said unto him, Blessed art thou, Simon Barjona: for flesh and blood hath not revealed it unto thee, but my Father which is in heaven.

Matthew 16:18 And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.

22 Showed the gates of hell would be against it, but it could not prevail. Don't try to stop this revival; you're only putting your hand in God's Word. All the tools that's formed against God will come to naught. For Jesus said, "The gates of hell can't prevail against it." The day is here. Now, how did Peter know that? He said, "The spiritual revealed truth of God has revealed it to you."
So the church of the living God---hear me---is built not upon the experience of a seminary, or upon a bunch of men's creeds, but it's built upon the spiritual revelation of God's Word. Amen. The spiritual revealed truth from God's Word, coming from God out of heaven to every heart. Amen.

Matthew 16:18 And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.

23 Notice, now, that's the same kind of revelation that Abel got, because it was revealed to him that it wasn't apples that brought us out of the garden, like people think here today, but it was blood, life, mortal life. And it was revealed by God, and God received this man Abel, and condemned Cain.
And both of them was in church. They were both worshipping God. They were both belonging to church, and both of them sincere; but one was chosen and the other one condemned, because one had spiritual revelation of the will of God. Amen.
Notice, there started the two branches. There started the tree. They growed right up through the Bible, both spirits. And they're here, tonight, and they're all over the world. And they're just about gone into seed, where the master of the garden will come to pass the judgment.

Genesis 4:4 And Abel, he also brought of the firstlings of his flock and of the fat thereof. And the LORD had respect unto Abel and to his offering:

Genesis 4:5 But unto Cain and to his offering he had not respect. And Cain was very wroth, and his countenance fell.

24 Watch this now, watch those two spirits rise in Genesis. If we had time, we could take tonight coming through the Bible, showing those two spirits. Now look what Cain done. When he seen his brother was accepted, his brother had the supernatural revelation, and he was jealous over him, and sought a way to kill him.
They've been an enemy, the spirit of Cain and the spirit of Abel, from Genesis all the way through the Bible, all the way over in Revelations---from the creation till now, and will be until Jesus comes. Do you understand that they were both religious? They both worshipped the same God. They both confessed the same God. But God vindicated Abel. He said, "This is My one, and that's not Mine." But both of them worshipped Him. Both of them belonged to the church.

25 Now, you could see it in Esau and Jacob. Why, Esau was more of a religious man than Jacob was, but God chose Jacob. There was nothing supernatural happened in Esau's life. But Jacob fought for the supernatural.
Look among the animals. Look in the ark, in Noah's ark. There were two birds, one of them a crow, and the other one a dove. One had an antichrist spirit, and the other one had the spirit of Christ. When they were both turned loose, the crow could eat anything he wished to. He was satisfied with the world, but the dove had to come back.
Let's give a beautiful illustration. Look at Israel down in Egypt; God promised take them to the promised land. Here they come on their journey, up through the land. They come up to have a revival. They wanted to go through the land of Moab. Moab was his brother. And he said, "Can I come into your country?"
He said, "No."

Genesis 8:7 And he sent forth a raven, which went forth to and fro, until the waters were dried up from off the earth.

Genesis 8:8 Also he sent forth a dove from him, to see if the waters were abated from off the face of the ground;

Genesis 8:9 But the dove found no rest for the sole of her foot, and she returned unto him into the ark, for the waters were on the face of the whole earth: then he put forth his hand, and took her, and pulled her in unto him into the ark.

Genesis 8:10 And he stayed yet other seven days; and again he sent forth the dove out of the ark;

Genesis 8:11 And the dove came in to him in the evening; and, lo, in her mouth was an olive leaf plucked off: so Noah knew that the waters were abated from off the earth.

Numbers 20:17 Let us pass, I pray thee, through thy country: we will not pass through the fields, or through the vineyards, neither will we drink of the water of the wells: we will go by the king's high way, we will not turn to the right hand nor to the left, until we have passed thy borders.

Numbers 20:18 And Edom said unto him, Thou shalt not pass by me, lest I come out against thee with the sword.

Numbers 20:19 And the children of Israel said unto him, We will go by the high way: and if I and my cattle drink of thy water, then I will pay for it: I will only, without doing any thing else, go through on my feet.

Numbers 20:20 And he said, Thou shalt not go through. And Edom came out against him with much people, and with a strong hand.

26 But Moab worshipped God; so did Israel. Now, Moab was a denomination. He was a great nation, all organized. But Moses with the children of Israel dwelt in tents, scattered everywhere. Now, they both had pastors. Moab sprung up from Lot's daughter. Now, they both ... they worshipped God. They had a bishop up there and his name was Balaam. And so, they went over to get their bishop to come over here and stop this bunch of holy-rollers. Yeah, stop them.
Could you imagine a man, a big nation, stopping his brother on the road to the promised land that God had promised him, and men following the promises of God? So they called Balaam out. I want you to watch how formal they was, because it was the spirit of Cain. Now, he gathered up all the elders, and he said ... the bishop said, "Build me seven altars, and upon every altar give a clean sacrifice, a bullock. And also, upon each altar, a ram." A ram spake of Christ.

Genesis 19:36 Thus were both the daughters of Lot with child by their father.

Genesis 19:37 And the firstborn bare a son, and called his name Moab: the same is the father of the Moabites unto this day.

Numbers 22:11 Behold, there is a people come out of Egypt, which covereth the face of the earth: come now, curse me them; peradventure I shall be able to overcome them, and drive them out.

Numbers 23:1 And Balaam said unto Balak, Build me here seven altars, and prepare me here seven oxen and seven rams.

Numbers 23:29 And Balaam said unto Balak, Build me here seven altars, and prepare me here seven bullocks and seven rams.

27 Now, here they are up on the mountain, looking down at that bunch of fanatics. Now, they said, "They're no good. Now, pastor, now stop them, curse them."
"All right. Oh, I'm a theological student now. I know what God requires. So, build me seven altars."
That's what God required. That's what God had down there, too, in Israel. He said, "Seven clean sacrifices." They had seven, too. "Seven lambs." They had seven lambs, too. See how fundamental they are? They both believed the Bible. They both did what God said. Now, the prophet went forth to curse that people, and when he did, God condemned him.
Now, what was the difference? If they're both preaching the Bible, if they both build churches, what was the difference in them? Because, in Israel, God was vindicating them. He had a pillar of fire over them. They were practicing divine healing by a brass serpent. They had healing, and they had joy. They had a smitten rock. They had an angel among them. These had the Word; but these had the Word and an Angel.

28 See that spirit of Cain? See the Spirit of God, the difference in them? God vindicating His church, by signs and wonders. Every time, every place in the Bible, when God came into His church, there was signs and wonders. There was a group that condemned it.
Now notice, now he tried to curse Israel, but God said, "Don't you curse what I've blessed." God was with Israel. Hallelujah! God is still proving His church. When God is in His church, there is healing, there's supernatural, there's visions, there's power, there's joy, when God is in His church. When men organizes it, God goes out of it. You see it?
Look at this. We're coming through Genesis, up into the Old Testament.

Numbers 22:12 And God said unto Balaam, Thou shalt not go with them; thou shalt not curse the people: for they are blessed.

29 Now, let's go into the New Testament. Now, we're in the New Testament. There was a Pharisee, very religious, great teachers. And God sent His Son. He was a teacher and He preached the Gospel. But they hated Him, just like Cain hated Abel. But what was the difference? They were both teaching, but this group said, "The days of miracles is past."
This group of Jesus had God with them. They had healing. They had miracles. They had visions. They had joy. Why, when He come into the temple, they screamed so loud, the Pharisees said, "Make them hold their peace."
Jesus said, "If they hold their peace, the rocks will immediately cry out." Something has to happen when the Lord God comes into His camp. Hallelujah! God is here. Watch where the spirit moves. That's why we got persecution, is because God is a vindicating that He's here. Hallelujah.

Luke 19:39 And some of the Pharisees from among the multitude said unto him, Master, rebuke thy disciples.

Luke 19:40 And he answered and said unto them, I tell you that, if these should hold their peace, the stones would immediately cry out.

30 Notice, they persecuted Jesus, they made fun of Him. He was a prophet. He was more than a prophet. He was the King of prophets. He was the God of prophets. He was none other but God Himself. And he prophesied. He healed the sick, and claimed He done nothing except the Father showed Him.
One day when they had Him caught, they tied a rag around His eyes, and they hit Him on the head. Said, "Now, You vision seer, You tell us who hit You, and we'll believe You."
Jesus said, "Let them alone, they are blind leaders of the blind. And if the blind leads the blind, won't they fall in the ditch?" That it is. They're religious but deny the power.

Matthew 15:1 Then came to Jesus scribes and Pharisees, which were of Jerusalem, saying,

Matthew 26:67 Then did they spit in his face, and buffeted him; and others smote him with the palms of their hands,

Matthew 26:68 Saying, Prophesy unto us, thou Christ, Who is he that smote thee?

Luke 22:64 And when they had blindfolded him, they struck him on the face, and asked him, saying, Prophesy, who is it that smote thee?

John 5:19 Then answered Jesus and said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, The Son can do nothing of himself, but what he seeth the Father do: for what things soever he doeth, these also doeth the Son likewise.

31 The whole book of the New Testament went the same way. There went the orthodox church on, coming out of Genesis, out of Cain, through Moab, on into the Pharisees---the New Testament.
Here come Abel, through Moses, through Jesus, living on through the apostles.
When Jesus came, He said, "These things that I do shall you do, for I am going to have to die, but I'll raise up on the third day. I will be with you, even in you, to the end of the world."
The Bible said, "Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever." He was the One that was in Abel. He was the One that was in Moses. He was the One in His Son. He was the One in the apostles. And He is the One here tonight. "The same Jesus, yesterday, today, and forever." Oh, praise to His name. How wonderful. He's a vindicating His church, showing Himself among His people, signs and wonders.
There's Cain, come through Moab, come through the Pharisees, and here today in the form of religion.
Watch the great Saint Paul, looking down to Zurich, to the end of the world.

Matthew 28:20 Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen.

John 14:12 Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father.

Hebrews 13:8 Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever.

32 That paper said that the apostles wasn't prophesying. What about Peter, when he was on the housetop, and fell into a trance, and saw a vision? How about Paul, when he was out on the island and he told them not to let loose from Crete? But they thought they knowed best. Fourteen days and nights, the ship tossed about, all hopes they'd be saved was gone.
Paul went down in the bulkhead and he prayed. He come out on the deck. The old boat was still dashing. He said, "Be of a good courage." That poor little fellow, with chains over his arms, chains over his feet, pulling a big ball behind him, for preaching the gospel.
Who put him in that condition? The so-called religious people, the Pharisees. They was the one who did it. Paul come out shaking the chains, said, "Brethren, be of a good courage, for last night the Angel of God stood by me and said, 'Don't fear, Paul, because you're going to be brought before Caesar. And God gave all them that sail with you.'"

Acts 27:22 And now I exhort you to be of good cheer: for there shall be no loss of any man's life among you, but of the ship.

Acts 27:24 Saying, Fear not, Paul; thou must be brought before Caesar: and, lo, God hath given thee all them that sail with thee.

33 Paul had a vision. He was between straits, didn't know which way to go, and one night he saw a vision. A man standing over in Greece, said, "Come over in Macedonia." Is that the truth? Amen.
John, the revelator, the disciple, apostle that Jesus loved, that laid on His breast, was out on the Isle of Patmos for preaching the Word. Went out there with this group---exiled for preaching the Word. And the Angel of God come to him and showed him the whole book of Revelation.
Is that right? Say, "Amen."

Acts 16:9 And a vision appeared to Paul in the night; There stood a man of Macedonia, and prayed him, saying, Come over into Macedonia, and help us.

34 What's the matter, men? The Gospel is true. Your theology don't fit with it. God's Word is right.
Then when Paul started to leave this world, (keep this in your mind), Paul seen a vision of the last days. Second Timothy, the third chapter, listen, he said, "Know this also..." I'm quoting Scripture. "Know this also, that in the last days perilous times shall come." Have we got perilous times? "Men shall be lovers of their own selves. 'I'm Doctor Jones.' Lovers ... boasters, proud, blasphemers, heady, high-minded."
You say, "Well, Brother Branham, them's infidels." No, no. No, them's religious people.
Watch the next verse. "Heady, high-minded, having a form of godliness," like here, Cain. "... having a form of godliness, and denying the power thereof: from such turn away." That's what Paul said.

2 Timothy 3:4 Traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God;

2 Timothy 3:5 Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away.

35 Second Timothy, third chapter, said, in the last days the church would be formal, go to church, say the apostle's creed (as they call it). There's no such a thing in the Bible as apostle's creed. That's a bunch of dogma. No such a thing in the Bible. But, oh, we worship those creeds. "They'd have a form of godliness, but would deny the power of God. He said, "From such turn away."
I'm quoting Scripture. He said, "For this is the sort that slip in from house to house, and lead silly women, led away with divers lust. From house to house, lead away silly women. Never able to learn, or never able to come to the knowledge of the truth." That's what God said. That's what we got. The Scriptures cannot be broken.
We've got the church formal, carnal. We got the church spiritual, born again, with signs and wonders, by spiritual revelation, just the same as it was at the garden of Eden.
The spirit of Cain is here; the spirit of Christ is here. You have to make your choice.

2 Timothy 3:5 Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away.

2 Timothy 3:6 For of this sort are they which creep into houses, and lead captive silly women laden with sins, led away with divers lusts,

2 Timothy 3:7 Ever learning, and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth.

36 Not long ago, I was coming to a mountain. Fixing to close now, as I have the healing line. I had been riding, chasing a bear, and it got night. And I got off my horse and started leading him. And I come into a place where the fire had burnt down a great thicket.
The big old trees were standing there, all the bark burnt off of them. The moon had come out and the shining against them. It looked horrible. Looked like a graveyard. The wind was a blowing, and they go so mournful as the wind blowed through these trees. Old stiff trees, and the wind blowing, going, "Ummm," going back and forth.
And the Lord said to me, "Stop. I want to show you."
And I did. And I looked at the trees. And I thought, Well, what's the wind blowing for? Well, what makes the trees act like that?

37 And He said to me, "Those trees represent the churches of this day. Great, tall spires. They say, 'Yes, we were once great churches,' but they haven't got no life in them. What the palmerworm has left, the caterpillar eaten. What the caterpillar left, the cankerworm eaten."
And I thought, Well, what's this? I said, "What does the wind mean?"
He said, "That's the Holy Spirit that come on Pentecost, come like a rushing mighty wind."
And I thought, What's He blowing against the trees for? And they kept making a mournful noise.

Joel 1:4 That which the palmerworm hath left hath the locust eaten; and that which the locust hath left hath the cankerworm eaten; and that which the cankerworm hath left hath the caterpillar eaten.

38 He said, "Yes, once they were great churches. But what the Lutheran left, the Calvinist eaten. What the Calvinist left, the Anglican eaten. And what the Anglican left, the Methodist eaten. What the Methodist left, the Baptist eaten."
They took all the joy out of the church, taught all the life out of it, said, "The days of miracles is past." What they got left? A great big old standing spire. And every time the Holy Ghost comes down, they say, "Oooh, don't go out to that thing, because the days of miracles is past." See, they're dead. They can't bend; they ain't got any life in them.
I said, "Lord, well, what do You send the wind for?"
But He said, "You remember, Joel said, 'I will restore unto you.'"

Joel 2:25 And I will restore to you the years that the locust hath eaten, the cankerworm, and the caterpillar, and the palmerworm, my great army which I sent among you.

39 Then I looked down, and here was a bunch of little bushes, about this tall. When the wind hit them, they just frolicked, just having a big time, just glorifying God. But these big stiff ones, say, "Oooh." I said, "What a picture. That's true."
And I thought, Well, what's He shaking the trees for anyhow? What do you make them little trees... ?
He said, "I'm bringing up another church. They did have it, but all the parasites has eaten it up with their theology. But I'll bring up another one." Hallelujah. "I'll bring up another one that will bow to My spirit."
And I wonder what makes the little trees bow then, when the wind hits them. Looked like a good old Pentecostal meeting. Looked flexible, shaken by the wind, rejoicing, accepting the Spirit, just having a wonderful time. And I thought, What do You shake them for

40 He said, "Every time they shake, they dig down and get a better hold, the roots go deeper. The wind shakes the tree to make it dig down deeper, to make a better tree." Hallelujah!
That's what we need tonight, is an old-fashioned, God-sent, Holy Ghost meeting. That's what Switzerland needs, what Germany needs. That's what the whole world needs. God's got His people. God's got His Spirit here. Just turn loose, and let's be flexible, and the Holy Ghost will show you. Amen.
"I will restore, saith the Lord, all the former days." What they was at Pentecost, that's what they are today. The same Christ, the same power. And everything it was then, God is restoring today.
Little children, in a few hours, God willing, I'll be flying across the sea. If I never see you again in this life, I have told you the truth. You see what supernatural does? It begins in Genesis, and ends in Revelation.

Joel 2:25 And I will restore to you the years that the locust hath eaten, the cankerworm, and the caterpillar, and the palmerworm, my great army which I sent among you.

41 You see what formality does, big churches, and carnal-minded, quoting the Scripture? Did you know Satan quotes the Scripture? Why, he held a debate with Jesus. And he quoted the Scripture. He said, "It is written, 'He will give His angels charge concerning Thee. If Thou dash Thy foot against a stone, He will bear Thee up.' Now, if You are the Christ, that's what the Bible said You'd do, let me see You do it."
Jesus said, "And it's also written, 'Thou shall not tempt the Lord thy God.'"
That old devil spirit in them church people, called Pharisees, Sadducees, they said, "If You be the Son of God, come down off the cross. Do a miracle before us, and let us see You do it, and we'll receive You." You see what kind of spirit that is? You see where it come from? Keep away from it.
Be born again, filled with the Holy Ghost, so the Holy Spirit can speak to you. Amen. Let us pray.

Deuteronomy 16:16 Three times in a year shall all thy males appear before the LORD thy God in the place which he shall choose; in the feast of unleavened bread, and in the feast of weeks, and in the feast of tabernacles: and they shall not appear before the LORD empty:

Psalm 91:11 For he shall give his angels charge over thee, to keep thee in all thy ways.

Psalm 91:12 They shall bear thee up in their hands, lest thou dash thy foot against a stone.

Matthew 4:6 And saith unto him, If thou be the Son of God, cast thyself down: for it is written, He shall give his angels charge concerning thee: and in their hands they shall bear thee up, lest at any time thou dash thy foot against a stone.

Matthew 4:7 Jesus said unto him, It is written again, Thou shalt not tempt the Lord thy God.

Matthew 27:40 And saying, Thou that destroyest the temple, and buildest it in three days, save thyself. If thou be the Son of God, come down from the cross.

Matthew 27:42 He saved others; himself he cannot save. If he be the King of Israel, let him now come down from the cross, and we will believe him.

Luke 4:10 For it is written, He shall give his angels charge over thee, to keep thee:

Luke 4:11 And in their hands they shall bear thee up, lest at any time thou dash thy foot against a stone.

Luke 4:12 And Jesus answering said unto him, It is said, Thou shalt not tempt the Lord thy God.

42 Our heavenly Father, O God, I know no more to say. I am just one man, Your people are many. I have tried my best, in a tired, weary body, to bring the message to the people. Thou knowest, Lord, I have nothing against any church. But, O God, I'm zealous of Thy Word. I love Jesus, and I want all to love Him. And I want them all to be born again, the lovely people, so they can meet You in peace.
O God, I commit all these to You. And even those churches who has misunderstood Your message; God, forgive them. Grant it, Lord. And may they have great prayer meetings, and may great spiritual revival break out, and there be an old-fashioned revival sweep across this nation, and bring people into Christ. For we ask it in Jesus' name.

43 Now, with your heads bowed, and every person in here be praying. I have been very exact tonight, but I've told you the truth. God knows that. And if you're anything short of being born again, step out of that formal and come into Christ.
I know every one of you, you're mortal beings. And at the day of judgment, I'll have to meet every one of you, and give an account for my message. And remember I'm telling you, "Except a man be born again, he will in no wise enter the kingdom."
How many in here would like to accept Christ just at this time, and you believe that God is here? and I've preached this message upon the basis of the Word, of the Holy Spirit, and the shed blood of Jesus? you want Jesus to remember you, and give you the new birth? How many wants that? Raise up your hand, with your head... All over the building.

John 3:5 Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.

44 Every one that wants the new birth, raise your hand. My, way up in the balconies on my left, God bless you. That's wonderful. Just raise your hand; He'll see it. Now, over on my right, raise up your hand to God, and say, "I want to accept Christ now." God bless you. God bless you. That's wonderful, wonderful. That's right.
Now, everybody, all together, that wants to believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, raise up your hands at once. Raise up your hand at once. We'll give God praise. That's wonderful. That is wonderful. Praise the Lord. Praise the Lord. That's very fine.
Now, now, bow your head again.
O God, please give these people Thy Spirit. And may Thy mercies be upon them. I commit them into Thy hands. O God, may they be able to discern right from wrong. May they live happy lives, victorious lives. And may You walk with them, and bless them, and give them the best of the land. For I ask it in Jesus' name.

45 And may we meet them all at Your... And some great night when life is all over, and the great wedding supper is set. Thousands of miles will go that great table. May, Lord, let me sit across the table from them. When we see each other, a few tears will run down our cheeks. But the great King, Jesus, will come out and wipe all tears from our eyes, say, "Don't cry. It's all over now. Enter into life." Until that time, may the Holy Ghost lead them. In Jesus' name. Amen. [Gap in the audio]
... come upon all. May you live good, holy, peaceful lives. The reason that I spoke what I did tonight, was to show you, not on one little Scripture, like the devil tries to quote, but the Word of God goes all through the Bible, just exactly the same. All that understands and believes say, "Amen." Thank you. May the Lord bless.
Now we're going to get ready to call the prayer line. Just... Now, be real reverent. Don't move around. For, remember, evil spirits goes from one to another. You know that. Now, let's be in prayer. Now, I want every one of you to be healed tonight. Now, how I'm going to get to all of you; I don't know. How many here wants to be healed, raise up your hand. Well, there's around eight thousand. See what I mean?

46 Now, this trip over here, I've tried to put the Word out. When I come back again, it will be more on healing. Now, if you've ... if I've found grace in your sight, by the Word of God, that's my sole text book, all I have to go by. And if God has proved that He's here, then you ought to listen to my words.
Now to you people along here, the cripples and the afflicted and... Look this way. Now, believe with all your heart. There's nothing else can be done for you, I guess, in the medical line. This has been...

I will restore (1957-03-09 Breakfast) (William M. Branham Sermons)

I will restore (1957-03-09 Breakfast) (William M. Branham Sermons) somebody

I will restore

1 I thought I was going to get to eat again. I laid a Bible down here somewhere. Show my confidence in people ... [Someone speaks to Brother Branham.] Yes... When a soldier will lay his sword down ... but it's around his friends.
I was thinking, coming along the line, just a few moments ago, to come up to the breakfast, and I was speaking with a man who was a Baptist, had just come into this marvelous full gospel way. And we were talking about Baptist theology, and he said, "Brother Branham, what do you think about it? It seems to get farther away. Many of them are coming in."
And I said, "They certainly are a good church (the Baptist church), nice people, and they have good teaching." I said, "But it's just like taking a bird, and you put him into a cage and give him orthodox food (a lot of vitamins to make good wings), but you got him in a cage." So that's it. What good does it do to make him good strong wings, if you're going to keep him in a cage? Might as well not give it to him. So, I like it out somewhere, like ... where you can fly free."

2 Sometimes I think I fly a little too free. You know, you can excuse that by being an Irishman. Someone said (talking about their nationalities)... I said, "Well, if He will save an Irishman, there's hope for the whole world, 'cause they're just up and down," and I said, "especially from Kentucky."
And this man happened to be a Kentuckian, and he said, "Well," he said, "I can prove that Paul was a Kentuckian."
I said, "How is that?"
Said, "'The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all.' He was a real Kentuckian."

3 To be assembled this morning, here at this breakfast, with such men as I am assembled with---and women---it certainly is a privilege that kings of the earth don't have. Because on assembling like this, we have a promise that the King of kings will be with us: "Wherever two or three are gathered in My name, I will be in their midst." And I just love that.
I'm thinking: The last time we gathered here, I believe it was, we didn't get anything to eat. You remember that, Brother Browning? We just sat around and talked, but we had a spiritual feast. That's much better. And this morning, seems like that the Lord's given us a double portion: something to eat for our stomachs and all ready to get food for our hearts. And we're grateful to Him.

Matthew 18:20 For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them.

4 I'm grateful to you brethren, the sponsors of this meeting, that's assembled here this morning, and for this Christian Businessmen, who I love and speak for them much. We was coming along this morning on the line, and I said something about the Christian Businessmen with all of us being ministers and their wives. Brother Moore said, "No, there'll be some Christian Businessmen."
Someone we were talking to said oh ... something about the Businessmen, and they said, "Why, they took Brother Branham; that's the only denomination he belongs to, is the Christian Businessmen."
I said, "I'm getting to be such a fanatic that I believe that's about the only one that'll receive me." I said, "I'm just such a crank anyhow, that I believe just the Christian Businessmen are the only one. They can shove me from one to the other, you know, because they represent them all." But we're happy to be here with the Christian Businessmen, and the ministers, and their wives, and all the visitors, if there be any with us that's not ministers and not in the fellowship.
This has been a great time for me here in Phoenix. So sorry that I had a throat the way I have it. But I... This is just about my fifth month now without hardly a day or night off, but what I've been in a service---constantly on the go.

5 And you know, I read a piece of paper the other day in our ... article, rather, in one of our local papers. It had the picture of the famous evangelist, Billy Graham, and it said up at the top, "Wearing Thin." And he had made a statement that (amongst some theologians) that he wasn't a [unclear words] like he used to be, that he believed that some of the Bible really to be not inspired, and a few... Said he might pretty soon leave the field of evangelism and become some ... take some kind of offerings for some great college or something on that order. Which to me, I don't believe he said it. I got better confidence in a man of God like Billy Graham, than to make a statement like that.
The papers makes a lot of statements that's not true. I don't believe Billy said it. But if he did say it, I would say that one thing would be, like Billy, would be like it is with many of our other evangelists, and with myself---and I hope you read between the lines what I'm saying---sometimes our zeal burns up our wisdom. We try to go too long, too hard; we get wore down. You get to a place you can't think right. Seems like... Oh, I don't know. Sometimes when I get to feeling like that, I'll just kind of be glad when I hear the trumpet sound. I think it'll all be over. There'll be no more struggles, no more heartache coming home. You know what I mean.

6 You don't know what it is until you go through it once. I know you can wear down. Jack Coe wore just a little too thin once. And if you don't watch... Tommy Hicks was wore thin, pretty thin, and you know that. Just as soon as he comes from overseas, somebody grabs him here and there. He's had a breakdown.
I know I wore awful thin one time. And I'm getting thin again. But how can you sit still when thousands are calling and pulling from everywhere? I thought, "Well, Lord..." Last fall when I come back from Brother Bonn of the Christian Businessmen over on the little time of vacation, I thought, "Well, Lord, I'll step in the harness and stay until You call me." And it's overdone it---the cause of these things. I would rather die in the harness than out of the harness.
So, when we're thin, and wearing thin, and so forth, as I've just stated, you get tired. My throat's giving down, but to come into a time like this where we sit in a little gathering... And I wonder if the Lord don't just let us get all tore up sometimes, where He can just mold us, and fashion us, and make us a little different, and bless us, and kiss us on the cheeks, and say, "My child, I'm right with you and I'll give you just a little encouragement; go ahead."

7 Now, I would like to approach a subject here that I know is entirely too much of a subject for me, and before ministers, anyhow, that I'm kind of a little ticklish about approaching it ... a little skittish, I should've said. But I trust that you'll bear with me till I express my thoughts on a Scripture that I want to read out of the book of Joel, the 1st chapter, a verse, and the 2nd chapter, a verse: the 4th and the 25th. In Joel the 1st chapter it said:
That which the palmerworm has left has the locust eaten; ... that which the locust has left has the a ... [I beg your pardon, I'm reading it wrong.] That which the palmerworm has left has the locust eaten; and that which the locust has left ... the cankerworm has eaten; and that which the ... [I mean] the caterpillar has eaten; that which the caterpillar has left has the ... cankerworm has eaten has the caterpillar...
I'm all mixed up again. Standing here with tears in my eyes and shaking, I... Well, I will read it again.
That which the palmerworm has left has the locust eaten; and that which the locust has left has the cankerworm eaten; ... that which the cankerworm has left has the caterpillar eaten.
And then over in Joel 2:25:
I will restore unto you...

8 Now, let's just bow our heads. Our precious Lord, as a bunch of pilgrims and strangers, we humbly bow in Your presence, first of all to ask You to forgive us for all of our trespasses, and to say within ourselves that we are unworthy of any blessing that You should give to us.
And we have come this morning as a group of people under the old oak tree, as it was, to sit around for a little time of fellowship. And I pray Thee, God, to be merciful to us and to give unto us that which we have need of. May the great Holy Spirit now come among us, and come among each of us, and give us the food from the Bible that we have need of. Bless this group of men, Lord. Bless this gathering. Bless the revival, and the Christian Businessmen, and for everything that's been done or said during this meeting. And we pray that in the end we'll hear these wonderful words, "It was well done, My good and faithful servant. Enter into the joys of the Lord." We ask in Jesus' name, amen.

Matthew 25:21 His lord said unto him, Well done, thou good and faithful servant: thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy lord.

Matthew 25:23 His lord said unto him, Well done, good and faithful servant; thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy lord.

9 Now, may the Lord add his blessings to His Word. And now, on this subject that I would just like to briefly say, because I know we got lots of things to do, and it's ten minutes after ten.
You know, there's none of us just alike. If we should all go up this morning and they'd gave us a fingerprint, we'd find out there is no two fingerprints exactly alike. That's known. They claim there's no two people got noses just exactly alike. We're so different one to the other and in many make-ups. But we can certainly agree that we're all humans.

10 And in our religious beliefs, we find the same thing. We find that some believe one thing and some another, but I've always tried to make it a policy to never try to cross up anybody, to do anything wrong. When I come out of the Baptist church, I never went across the country telling what a bad bunch of people the Baptists are. I'd go across the country telling what a fine bunch of people the Baptists are, because they are. I might not agree with them just on everything, but I certainly would take one of them before I would take an unbeliever, before I would take a communist, or... As long as they are mentioning the name of the Lord, though I wouldn't believe with them, I certainly... We might not believe on every principle, but we believe on Christ, and that's the main thing.
I wouldn't mean to speak evil of the Baptists, or the Presbyterians, or not even to the Catholics, because there's Catholic people who I believe are saved. God has made it so simple to us that "He that believeth on Me..." See. And there's many of you... I wouldn't believe the system of the Catholic church, but I believe in the Catholic people. I don't believe in the system of maybe the Baptists, or Presbyterian, or even the Pentecostals sometimes, but I believe in their people, because they are my brothers and sisters.

John 6:35 And Jesus said unto them, I am the bread of life: he that cometh to me shall never hunger; and he that believeth on me shall never thirst.

John 6:47 Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me hath everlasting life.

John 7:38 He that believeth on me, as the scripture hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water.

John 12:46 I am come a light into the world, that whosoever believeth on me should not abide in darkness.

John 14:12 Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father.

11 Now, in our short message that I have just... The first time I've ever tried to write down something, just a point that I want to make [unclear words] because, not only to preach... I didn't come to preach, I just come to speak to you. And I preach by inspiration---I try to---but in speaking like this, I just want to talk to you.
But there's four great things here that I want to mention, and that is...
Joel, the prophet, who was God's eagle, who climbed up into the sphere of God, and saw the day coming. Peter quoted him on the day of Pentecost in Joel 2:38. He said, "This is that which was spoken by the prophet Joel." And Joel saw that coming. And if Joel's prophecy was so accurate, that it saw Pentecost many hundred years before it ever happened, then surely the prophecy that he has given to this day, we could say would be accurate. But the thing I want to speak on is this: the four great destroyers.

Acts 2:16 But this is that which was spoken by the prophet Joel;

12 First, it was the palmerworm, and the next was the locust, and the next was the cankerworm, and the next was the caterpillar. Them were destroyers, and what they were destroying was the heritage of God, the vine.
And if you will check closely on your insects, those three ... or, those four insects are the same insect in a different form: the caterpillar, and the locust, the cankerworm, and the ... I mean, the... I get them mixed up.
The first was the palmerworm, and then the locust, and then the cankerworm, and the caterpillar. We are told that that is the same insect in just different forms coming down.

Joel 1:4 That which the palmerworm hath left hath the locust eaten; and that which the locust hath left hath the cankerworm eaten; and that which the cankerworm hath left hath the caterpillar eaten.

13 Now, if Pentecost was God's vine, which was the new vine that had grown up, then these four destroyers has been the one that's eat the vine down. Now, let's find out what Pentecost had and find out what we got lacking, and then we ought to find out what the destroyers are, who they are, or what's did it.
Now, the first thing that Pentecost produced was brotherly love. It tore down the middle wall of partition and made a brotherhood to such a way that they had everything in common in the Bible days---a brotherhood. Paul spoke of this brotherhood, and he gave all the gifts of the Pentecostal church, and then said in I Corinthians 13 that "Though I speak with tongues as men and angels, and have not this love (which brings the brotherhood), I am nothing. And though I have the knowledge to understand all the mysteries of God, I am still nothing without love (the love of the brethren)."

1 Corinthians 13:1 Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, and have not charity, I am become as sounding brass, or a tinkling cymbal.

14 Jesus said, "This will all men know that you're My disciples, when you have love one for the other." Pentecost had that. I'm speaking Pentecost, meaning the first group of the apostles and the disciples. They had that brotherly love. They wasn't greedy. They sold everything they had for the furthering of the church. They was so together till even when one heard the other one died, they said, "Let us go and die with him." Such a feeling.
Now, Jesus spoke of this and said that ... Paul did, rather, and said, "Let brotherly love continue." That was in the first church. But something taken place. And there was a fellow come in by the name of a palmerworm. And when he began to eat on that vine of brotherly love, he cut the very sap line of it. Because it don't make any difference how smart we are, how much we think we know, or how much we want to be different from somebody else, and as long as that brotherly feeling isn't among us, we are fighting a losing battle. That's right. We can't win. There's no way for us to win.

John 11:16 Then said Thomas, which is called Didymus, unto his fellowdisciples, Let us also go, that we may die with him.

John 13:35 By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another.

Hebrews 13:1 Let brotherly love continue.

15 And now, in the Pentecostal church of today, comparing the two and what's happened... Now, if you'll notice the routine of the gifts: the first is a gift of wisdom. (Thank you.) The first is the gift of wisdom. That is the best gift of the group. And if we don't have wisdom, we won't know how to use knowledge---is the second gift. And if we can't use the second gift without wisdom, how are we going to use the last gift---interpretation? or next to the last---speaking in tongues? Our zeal has eat up our wisdom, and our zeal for our denominations and our enthusiasm has eat up the wisdom off of the vine---brotherly love.
It's all right, and you brethren, the reason I said for you to come this morning, I want to speak to ministers... It's all right to have denominations. There's nothing against that. But when denomination isolates himself and separates his fellowship from his brethren, that old palmerworm has eat the life out of it to begin with. That's right.

16 When we get to a place, if you want to differ with a man... Why, there's a man that I know that I could see eye to eye with, as close in Scriptures as anybody in the world is Brother Moore, sitting here. But oh, do we get times when we're a million miles apart. But did that ever touch us? No, sir. Hearing him... With a little wife over yonder, answering the phone so much till she's got almost a nervous breakdown... Called last night, crying on the phone. And he loves me well enough... Not because he gets a penny of money, no, sir. But he flies on an old Lockheed plane and everything else, to get over here to be with me a little bit. I don't believe the night would ever be too dark or the rain would ever fall too hard, but what I'd climb and crawl through the jungles to get to him. It's a love. And yet, we wouldn't agree on Scriptures by a hundred miles on millenniums and so forth like that, or on security of the believer. But that don't make it. I'm even... Even in our difference, I am elected associate pastor to him. I'm so glad that the palmerworm hasn't touched us yet, Brother Moore.
Now, I'm just saying that for an example. And if we could do that between two men, why can't every brother do it? I might have a right to say things against the church and...

17 I went to his church here not long ago. And I thought he never would invite me back. Oh, I come to find out, that godly bunch of little saintly women he had there, was bobbing off their hair and wearing lipstick. I tore the thing apart. Sure did. But I thought he wouldn't ask me back. But you know what? There was such anointing of the Holy Spirit around the vine, till that old palmerworm couldn't touch it at all.
You know, there's an electric fence, like. That palmerworm can't get over that fence. That shock of the Holy Spirit of love, it'll kill him every time, brothers. And if we need fences to build, it oughtn't to be denominational fences; it ought to be love fences to keep the insect out, to keep the palmerworm out, for he is the devil's number one destroyer.

18 I don't care what a man believes. Whatever he believes... Now, he's got a right to come right back and tell me he don't believe little things that I believe. I got a right to say little things that he doesn't believe in this church, the Methodist, the Baptist, the Presbyterian, even to the Pentecostal, see. Whatever... I'm with the Pentecostal people; I am Pentecost. I don't belong to the Pentecostal denomination, because Pentecost is not a denomination; it's an experience. Did you hear that Lutheran say awhile ago?
Now, we took into the Baptist sitting over there coming down. I believe there's another Baptist looking at me there with a checkered tie on, or was, see. It is an experience. And the trouble of it is, we let these insects get in and tear us to pieces. And there is the number one killer. That's what's eating our Pentecostal experiences today.

19 Now, the next great thing come up was the locust. And he was the one who was to destroy the unity of the believers. In the Bible there were... In Pentecost there was a unity. And these people were with one heart and with one accord. And Paul said (I believe, in Romans the 7th chapter) that there was nothing could separate us from the (8th chapter of Romans) from the love of God that's in Christ Jesus. There was nothing...
I've never expressed this before between Pentecostal people or anyone. But seeing the tremendous strain that's been on me, that's why I come to do it this morning. It's the mightiest church on the face of the earth. And it is the church.
There's only one church. Many of the them are still branded Baptist, Presbyterian...

Romans 8:38 For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come,

Romans 8:39 Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

20 But I might not look like it this morning, but I used to herd a few cattle. And up there in Colorado, where we graze on the Arapaho forest, and bring the cattle down on the Troublesome River Association ... Hereford Association grazes the ... has the ranches down on the Troublesome River. At roundup time at the spring, when we brought the cattle up to put them on there, many times have I sat there with my leg across the horn of the saddle, and watched the ranger count those cattle as they went through. And I was amazed to look; some of them had the Lazy K brand on them. Some of them has the Diamond Bar brand on them. Ours was the Tripod. But others was different brands. The ranger... The brand didn't make much difference, but every one that passed through that gate had to be a registered Hereford.
That's what I think it'll be at the day of the judgment: it won't be whether you're a Methodist or Baptist or Presbyterian, what brand you got on you, but it'll be a born-again experience is the only thing that we'll ever need to go through.

21 So not only among the Pentecostal denominations, but all denominations, this great palmerworm has broke down brotherhood. It's did it with the Lutherans. It's did it with the Baptists. It's did it with the Presbyterians. It's did it with the Nazarenes. It's did it with the Pentecostals. It's always been that old worm in there to make them isolate themselves. "We got it. You ain't got nothing." What a pity.
Recently at a meeting, where a Lutheran group of people... A dean of a college had Brother Moore and I there, and he so differed with me. But what got him was in the supernatural. And he called me out to have dinner with him. And there was pretty near as many as there is here at this breakfast. And then, when we got through eating and was explaining to him, he wanted to know "What we Lutherans have..."
And I said, "Well, do you say..."
He said to me, "Do we Lutherans have anything?"
I said, "Sure. You have Christ." I said, "I'll make it to you in a parable. A man once planted a field of corn. And he went out in a few days, and he looked, and there were two little sprouts sticking up like this. And the man begin to praise God for a field of corn." I said, "Did he have corn?"
He looked at me, said, "Well, perhaps, in a sense he had corn."
I said, "He had corn, potentially.

22 By and by, that corn matured. And after while it become a tassel." I said, "The first two leaves were you Lutherans, first Reformation. And after while, along come the tassel. That tassel looked so pretty. It looked back down to the leaf and said, 'I haven't got nothing to do with you. I'm a pretty tassel, and you aren't nothing but just an old green leaf.'"
But if the truth was known, the very life that was in the leaf has made the tassel. And it has to have the leaf to drop its pollen to further on, towards maturity. After while the ear come, had grains on it: the Pentecostal---restoration of the gifts, like the one that went in the ground, the return of the power of God in fullness, showing Christ alive, at Pentecost, through the gifts and manifestations of the first church.
But you know, when this ear of corn come on, it looked back to that tassel and say, "You ain't got nothing. You ain't even in it. And you old dead Lutheran leaves down there, there's nothing to you."

23 But brother, remember, the ripeness in the grain come out of the leaf also, in the tassel. It's nothing but a corn, further matured. So, don't laugh at the Lutheran and the Baptists, Methodists. Remember, it's a further maturing of the ear.
But now the thing about this, we've had that in our minds so long, until it has created another thing. And we've got fungus growing out all over the ear. You know what fungus is? You know what fungus is and what brings it, You see. It's something wrong, something wrong with the tree that has fungus on it. It's got a disease.
And Pentecost has got a disease. It's got a lot of fungus growing on it. That's right. In all of our churches---got fungus growing on it. We've let the old palmerworm come along with his stinger, break down brotherhood, break down unity among us. Paul said in the Bible that he wanted us to all speak the same thing. He wanted us all to be in unity.

1 Corinthians 1:10 Now I beseech you, brethren, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that ye all speak the same thing, and that there be no divisions among you; but that ye be perfectly joined together in the same mind and in the same judgment.

24 I got a little note right here I was going to read on it. All the operation of the gifts and so forth... And in unity they stood as one great big union church. But we find out that that church stayed that way, with brotherhood, and they loved not their lives unto death. They went down in martyrdom. Many of you men here who is scholars, you've read of the ... well, the early ages of the church, and books like Foxe "Book of Martyrs," and so forth, and many other church histories. And how that they stuck together; nothing could separate them.

Revelation 12:11 And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony; and they loved not their lives unto the death.

25 Then during the dark age, they come forth with an organization. They come forth with a man-made policy. The locusts begin to fly then. The same devil that broke up brotherhood is trying to break the unity of men. And they made their first organization, and that was the Catholic church. God's church never was organized until Catholicism. And then it was a forcing, that you had to do it or they pulled them apart with ox, they burned them, they fed them to lions, they done everything. And they forced in a false unity. The locusts begin to sting. And it's too bad. After the caterpillar had got into the Pentecostal church and broke up the brotherhood, then the locusts comes around after that, and begin to sting us to organize different little groups to break up our unity. That's one of the destroyers.

26 If the old general council, when the Pentecostal move was first brought in, issued in by speaking with tongues (the bottom of the gifts, bringing it up), if they would've just stayed put and would've never organized, and just let it be a Pentecostal fellowship instead of any organization, we'd have been a million times better off, brethren. And let it stay an experience and not a denomination...

27 Now remember, I'm stating myself; I'm not against the denominations. It has to be that way or God's Word wouldn't have said it would be that way. If these caterpillars and bugs are going to eat the church, they're going to eat it. That's right. God said so. That's just as plain as He said He'd pour out His Spirit. What God says for one thing, whether it's good or evil, it's going to be just that way. But I'm just bringing up something to your view so you can see.

28 Now, the caterpillar begin to eat ... or, the locust, rather, and he broke up against unity. And they organized the first church. Luther organized the second, and on down through the age, and it's constantly one organization... And when you do, you tear down the very principle of brotherhood. Brethren, to my opinion, if we are mentally right, we don't ... we see God's Bible and look out upon the thing, and you see that it's that way. We are not divided; all one body, we. One in hope and doctrine, one in charity. What are we going to do about it? Here we are. Could we help it? No, sir. God said so; that's it.
They could not help doing it. I wonder, when we stand before Jesus at that great day... And as the patriarchs stood before Joseph, and they condemning themselves, "We knew we did this. We should not have done this."...
And he said, "It was all for the good."
I wonder, really, if all our differences and other things, when we come that day and say, "Oh Lord, if I'd have knowed that, I'd never done this."
But, what if He'd just say, "Well, it was all for the good. It might preserve life in some way."

Genesis 45:5 Now therefore be not grieved, nor angry with yourselves, that ye sold me hither: for God did send me before you to preserve life.

29 But, to think, that old locust, what it done... And then another thing that they had back in the Bible times, now, besides brotherhood, perfect brotherhood, perfect unity, they had a worship of one true God. And it's too bad that we got away from that.
Now, in the day of the early age, there come a time when they set up a pope and made him a god, give him a triple crown: the jurisdiction over heaven, purgatory, and hell. I've seen his crown. I looked at it myself. And they begin to come to a man worship. And they set up from the worship of the one true God to a false earthly god and got priests in there and called them "Father"---ghostly father. The Bible plainly told us: call no man "father" but God, and to worship no man but God.

Matthew 23:9 And call no man your father upon the earth: for one is your Father, which is in heaven.

30 I wouldn't want to say that it was a grand privilege, but I was given the privilege to be interviewed by the Pope, when I was in Rome. And I seen many diplomats, and great men, and kings, and potentates, monarchs, and have met them. And they told me different things I should do, and how I should address them, and when I went to them, "Your honor," and so forth, and "majesty," and so forth, I was to say. So I asked this person what I was to say at three o'clock the next afternoon when I was to meet the Pope of Rome, the head of the Catholic church. And he said, "The first thing you must do, would be, bow down on your knee, and kiss the ring, and call him, 'His Holiness.'"
I said, "Just take it off the list." I would not pay that respect to any earthly man [unclear words]. If he is a minister, or reverend, or elder, whatever he wishes to be called, all right, but never do worship to a man. That's right.

31 But they had the worship of one true God. In that little faction, they set up in the program (which many of you historians know) of making the trinity three different Gods. They had one God the Father, with a long beard. I've seen the pictures right at the Vatican. They had another one, God the Son, with a younger man. And a little bird flying around like a dove, call him the Holy Ghost.
Now, they lost sight there of the true picture of the one true God. God is not three gods. God is one God. God has three offices, the trinity---the Father, Son, and Holy Ghost---but it isn't three different gods. If it is, we're pagan. But that never started in the early church; they knowed different from that. It started in the middle age, when the unity of brethren was broke up, and the love.

32 Now, of course, we people today, we believe that there's three; the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Ghost is the three persons of the one true God. It's three offices, not three Gods. But that same... Listen now, we think that was ridiculous in the Catholic church, but we brought it right down here at Pentecost and tore yourselves to pieces with it: set up another organization, started something else.
Instead of coming like brethren with brotherly love and with unity, the first one begin to see that the three Persons of the Godhead was in one Person, Christ Jesus; He was the manifestation of God in flesh, not another man. And then you set up and got the little dogmatic idea of the oneness, you call them. Then you started on that, begin to harp on it, and you made God one like your finger, one, and you know that's wrong. You better scholars know better than that. But what was it? It was because the palmerworm begin to eat first. Instead of sitting and reasoning together... When I come into the factions of the Pentecostals, they set a table bigger than that, with their heads around, "You go this, and you can't go to this. You preach for them, you can't preach for me."
I said, "We are brethren. Absolutely."

33 And if the Oneness faction hadn't have went off to one side, and made an issue out of it, and would've stayed with their brethren, and let the Holy Ghost anoint them, that thing would've never scattered and broke up brotherhood the way it did. But what happened? The locusts begin to fly. It broke up brotherhood. You had to have a little unity of your own. Unity is not an isolated thing, brethren. Unity is for the whole body of Christ.
It started in the early days. Paul said, "When I come among you, one has this and one has that. One said, 'I'm of Cephas.' and, 'I'm of Paul.' Was Cephas crucified? Was you baptize in the name of Paul?" Why, that thing had already started. It was eating into the church.

1 Corinthians 1:12 Now this I say, that every one of you saith, I am of Paul; and I of Apollos; and I of Cephas; and I of Christ.

1 Corinthians 1:13 Is Christ divided? was Paul crucified for you? or were ye baptized in the name of Paul?

34 But they had in the beginning the unity of the one true God. Just a few days ago I got a letter from Africa, Brother Junie. Now, I want you to know that there's two factions of them there. They have a triune baptism. And one side baptizes three times: once for the Father, once for the Son, once for the Holy Ghost, face forward. Said, "Jesus, when He died (we're baptized in His death.) and He fell face forward."
The other one said, "Silly. When Jesus died, they bury a man on his back." So, they baptize him three times backward: once for the Father, and once for the Son, once for the Holy Ghost. And they split up. My goodness, brethren, can't you see? Don't you understand? Let it be a vision to you. What difference does it make? When we have lost our feeling of brotherhood, we're in a terrible shape [unclear words]. Do you get it? But these little things that break out, then somebody grabs it, and "We'll make us a unity." That's not unity; that's pure petty jealousy. Get what I mean? We need real Christian, apostolic unity. Yes, sir.

35 Paul said, "Some preach for one thing and some preach for gain, and what difference" said, "as long as Christ is preached." He had a right to call out and said, "I know that after my departing grievous wolves will enter in, and some among you will raise up with perverse things and so forth."
But John, trying to cap it all, said, "Oh, keep Christ, the unity of Christ, the love of God in our hearts. Little children, love one another."

Philippians 1:18 What then? notwithstanding, every way, whether in pretence, or in truth, Christ is preached; and I therein do rejoice, yea, and will rejoice.

1 John 4:7 Beloved, let us love one another: for love is of God; and every one that loveth is born of God, and knoweth God.

1 John 4:11 Beloved, if God so loved us, we ought also to love one another.

36 I believe we have to go through these things before we can really see the real meaning of them. John, who was the one who wanted to call fire down out of heaven and burn up Samaria that day because they wouldn't give them something to eat, the same one become the very funnel of love. I wonder, brethren, if some day in all of our differences, when we really see the vision that God's trying to get before us, if it just won't break us right down at one another's feet [unclear words].

37 Another thing that they had in that day, was absolutely astounded a Bible teaching. [Break in tape.] That was one of the things they had which the palmerworm and the caterpillar... And did you notice, it's the same insect all the way down. Now, this old devil cankerworm has come in, and he crawls in the skin too, you know, cankers you up. Once they ever find a little thing and when he does, it don't make any difference what somebody else tries to say, he'll just hold to that, and he'll isolate his little group into something, "but this is it." Brother, it ain't, "This is it."; this is "that." That's the thing. A fellowship, a true Bible teaching; not going out after one thing or another. We've got genuine, Spirit filled, Holy Ghost brethren.
If I would direct my message towards one of them, I'd be a hypocrite. I don't speak against things the Baptist church does this, the Methodist church does that, and this does that or this does that. I'm not preaching just to men; I'm preaching against that devil of a cankerworm, that's trying to get a hold of mankind. And we see it. I brought this so that we could lay it out before you each other, that we could see that these destroyers was predicted to come and eat the vine down.

38 Now, we know the Holy Ghost is here. We know the Holy Ghost is life. But, brethren, do you realize it's only working in a stump? Did you think that? Do you realize that's a part, my friends? The Spirit is only working in a stump. The Bible said it would be a stump. What is it? We've got disunified body. We've got brotherly love scattered from side to side. Way down in the heart of every born-again man, this morning, in their hearts they want to embrace one another. They [unclear words] want to do it. There's many a preacher here in Phoenix that belongs to the churches of different denominations would love to walk in here this morning, and take the Oneness, and the Twoness, and the Threeness, and forget their differences, and [unclear words] Christ is in their heart.
But what is it? What's keeping them from it? Their organization. If they get caught in that bunch, they're excommunicated. That's a false unity; the Bible said so. That's right. God never did organize His church. Now, don't be against that. God said it had to happen. But the thing of it is among all of us, let's be brethren. [Gap in the audio.]

Daniel 4:15 Nevertheless leave the stump of his roots in the earth, even with a band of iron and brass, in the tender grass of the field; and let it be wet with the dew of heaven, and let his portion be with the beasts in the grass of the earth:

Daniel 4:23 And whereas the king saw a watcher and an holy one coming down from heaven, and saying, Hew the tree down, and destroy it; yet leave the stump of the roots thereof in the earth, even with a band of iron and brass, in the tender grass of the field; and let it be wet with the dew of heaven, and let his portion be with the beasts of the field, till seven times pass over him;

Daniel 4:26 And whereas they commanded to leave the stump of the tree roots; thy kingdom shall be sure unto thee, after that thou shalt have known that the heavens do rule.

39 Then we find out all these great things, and here we are just stumped. Here this vine will start, and when it does the palmerworm will cut down the brotherhood.
What comes next? That's where the palmerworm died and turns into a locust, and he goes to stinging. Then the locust goes, and in comes the cankerworm. The cankerworm leaves, and here comes the caterpillar to get what's left, see. Right back to the stump it goes. And, brethren, the point with the life coming up from the root, Christ Jesus (because He was the root and offspring), we, by our indifferences, have let these things cut us and keep us a stump.
"Is there any hope then," you say, "Brother Branham?"
Blessed be to God, "I will restore, saith the Lord. All the years, the blessings, that the cankerworm, the caterpillar, the palmerworm and everything that's eaten down..." And brethren, as a middle-aged man, as a preacher of the gospel, and your brother, which loves you with Christian love, I'm looking to see the day, soon, when those cankerworms and caterpillars will be sprayed with God's insect powder and [unclear words] and every church will embrace one another: men shall be brethren.
.

40 And now, for a real thought of this: If God said these insects would eat down His heritage, can't you see, brethren, divine healing, why it doesn't operate right? Can you see how gifts don't operate right? The spirits, they'll get in the church and some with tongues will speak irreverently. Some of them pay no attention to it. Others will say, "That message wasn't right." They let this go and that go.
Then the gifts will come and they say, "Oh, Jones said, 'This was this and this was that.'" It's the Holy Spirit, truly, but it can't get through to produce itself. These little insects are keeping it down. That's the reason we can't have real... Why, this great power that's in the church, should have swept her from sea to shining sea. The great church of the living God should be every power [unclear words].
What does it? Just as soon as one raises up, here comes the caterpillar and starts boring on. But one great thing: God said it would be that way. We see it. And God said, "I will restore." I'm looking for it. God bless you.

Joel 2:25 And I will restore to you the years that the locust hath eaten, the cankerworm, and the caterpillar, and the palmerworm, my great army which I sent among you.
