1 [Brother DuPlessis reads I Kings 19:1-12]
And Ahab told Jezebel all that Elijah had done, and withal how he had slain all the prophets with the sword.
Then Jezebel sent a messenger unto Elijah, saying, So let the gods do to me, and more also, if I make not thy life as the life of one of them by tomorrow about this time.
And when he saw that, he arose, and went for his life, and came to Beer-sheba, which belongeth to Judah, and left his servant there.
But he himself went a day's journey into the wilderness, and came and sat down under a juniper tree: and he requested for himself that he might die; and said, It is enough; now, O LORD, take away my life; for I am not better than my fathers.
And as he lay and slept under a juniper tree, behold, then an angel touched him, and said unto him, Arise and eat.
And he looked, and, behold, there was a cake baken on the coals, and a cruse of water at his head. And he did eat and drink, and laid him down again.
And the angel of the LORD came again the second time, and touched him, and said, Arise and eat; because the journey is too great for thee.
And he arose, and did eat and drink, and went in the strength of that meat forty days and forty nights unto Horeb the mount of God.
And he came thither unto a cave, and lodged there; and, behold, the word of the LORD came to him, and he said unto him, What doest thou here, Elijah?
And he said, I have been very jealous for the LORD God of hosts: for the children of Israel have forsaken thy covenant, thrown down thine altars, and slain thy prophets with the sword; and I, even I only, am left; and they seek my life, to take it away.
And he said, Go forth, and stand upon the mount before the LORD. And, behold, the LORD passed by, and a great and strong wind rent the mountains, and brake in pieces the rocks before the LORD; but the LORD was not in the wind: and after the wind an earthquake; but the LORD was not in the earthquake:
And after the earthquake a fire; but the LORD was not in the fire: and after the fire a still small voice.

I'm sure we all enjoyed that wonderful message in song. This being Sunday night, we are happy to know that the Lord has blessed us through this week, in a mighty meeting.
I just heard awhile ago from little Ricky's father. They taking him back over to the children's hospital for the doctors to look at him. And he said just great groups of doctors and nurses rushed up the steps into the room, and stood amazed to see what has happened to little Ricky. The Lord has blessed that child, and healed his body. They had give him up there, just two or three days to live, and he's well. So we're thankful for that, and most certainly give all praise to our heavenly Father. It's a trophy of God's grace to the human race.

2 Just before leaving my room, I was praying in Philadelphia, and Baltimore, Maryland, and different places that's calling; in the morning to take a long distance call all the way from Germany, and from Switzerland, for people calling in from around the world as it goes at home, and so forth to be prayed for.
We'd like to make a short announcement now, that this coming Wednesday, the Lord willing, I'm to speak in the afternoon service at the Pisgah Bible church here in this city. And I believe that's the name of the place: Pisgah, Brother Smith, pastor. He's having a meeting and I'm going to speak for him this coming Wednesday afternoon.

3 And then, also, the meeting begins here again Tuesday night. Tomorrow is a little rest day. God knows I need it. And so after this meeting I go up to San Jose. And then, I'm going overseas on a long journey through many different nations, preaching the Gospel. And I certainly want to thank you people. I did not know this afternoon that they'd taken a missionary offering for me to go over. I thank you for that; that's nice.
Here sometime ago I went to the islands, and there some forty thousand people gave their hearts to Christ, in nine nights. And the governor of the island was speaking when I left, and said what an impact it had upon the people. And said there was one thing: I never asked for any money. I never took an offering in my life---never did in my life---but the tithings, and things that people give me. I don't even ask them when I go overseas to pay my way.

4 I take your tithes and pay my way. And then, I know then it's spent for the kingdom of God. When I shall answer at the day of the judgment, I can say with a true heart I did the best with it I knowed how. And that's the same way this offering will go here. Thank you, and for tonight and for all you've done.
I call the man "Big Mike"---he's one of the ushers here---he said some sister was kind enough to bake me a cake. I haven't eaten all day; that'll be pretty good after this service is over. Thank you very kindly. Wish I could invite you all out, but I'm afraid there wouldn't be quite enough of it. But I thank you very kindly, and the little things that you do, and you pass into the people, and send... We appreciate that with all of our heart. Wife and I, and the children here in the church tonight, certainly appreciate that with all of our heart.

5 With Brother DuPlessis and his most outstanding message of how he brings the Scripture in, I'm sure you appreciate him, Brother DuPlessis, which is to be with us the continuing the week.
My boy is here---I call them my boys; they're a tape artist---and they sell the books. Now those books we buy; they're not ours. We buy those books at forty cents off, and then haul them out, and sell them to the people just so the message gets out. Mr. Lindsay prints that book. And the boys make tapes, these two boys; Mr. Mercier and Mr. Goad are fine boys. They've been with me now for sometime. One of them was a Catholic; the other one I don't believe he belonged to any church.

6 And up in Indiana where I had a great meeting, these boys come in and seen that discernment. So they said, "That's fraudy; that's just a bogus; that's a hoax. That's all it can be." So, they said, "We will expose that fellow." So they made themself a little FBI. Mr. Mercier was a bartender. Mr. Goad was a steam fitter, I believe, or an engineer.
So, they got together and formed a little FBI, and growed a great big long beard and came down to my house, and passed through saying, "Mr. Branham, we are evangelists. We're on our road down in the South."
I said, "That's nice; I'm glad to meet you boys," and so forth.
Instead of that they went down into the city, and got them a little room, and rented this room. And went asking around the people if those visions were real. They were going at it real technique. So, they... After being there for a couple weeks, they came back, said, "We're on our road back from down South again; we're just dropping by." Mr. Mercier with a great big beard.

7 And it happened to be they hit there just at the wrong time; the Angel of the Lord was in the room. So it said, "Mr. Mercier, why would you try to call your name something else, you and Mr. Goad?" And it just really laid them right on the floor.
I've called them my students since then. And they took right up, go into the meeting. And they wanted something that they could do along the meeting. I didn't have very much to do, because I've never let my campaign get to a place to where I can't go to the littlest church, the humblest people. I've just held a revival in a church that held twenty people. Now, if I had a great big expense, I couldn't do that. But, I don't want it to get like that. I've always said I never want to be great; I want to be honest.
And so I... These boys make tapes in the meetings, and they sell them just almost for what the tape is, just so the people gets the message. They have these tapes, and they're at the bookstand. And you would be... We've got hundreds and hundreds of messages that has been preached around the world. And if you would care for the tapes, or so forth, or the records---they have them on records, too---you could get them at the book concession.
The Lord bless you greatly. And pray for me now, for tomorrow, that I get some rest.

8 Brother David had just read a marvelous Scripture here, and I would like to take for a text the last few words, or the last few words of the ninth verse.
What hearest thou, Elijah?
Now, let us bow our heads for a word of prayer.

1 Kings 19:9 And he came thither unto a cave, and lodged there; and, behold, the word of the LORD came to him, and he said unto him, What doest thou here, Elijah?

9 Eternal God, we thank Thee tonight, as we address Thee as the eternal One, for all that Thou has done for us. For it is true that our hearts stand in awe when we see the mighty working of Your power, to see beyond a shadow of doubt that we tonight, as Christians, have the only religion of all of the religions of the world that can prove that their founder is alive.
And we're so glad tonight, Lord, for this, because it gives us that perfect assurance, and that rest in our souls, that every word that He has promised, He's still alive to make it good. And He does do it. And we're thankful for this, that You would come from glory among a humble people as we are, because it's Your grace and Your love to us.

10 And we would pray tonight, Lord, that we have set this night aside, now, to call a prayer line to pray for the sick and the needy. May there not be one feeble person left in our midst at the end of this service. May it be an exceeding, abundant, above all that we could think of. Grant it, Lord, bless this church, this Angelus Temple, that the faithfulness, and the work of a little woman, handsmaid established this as a memorial of her love to Thee.
God, bless it's pastor, her beloved son, Brother Rolph, and his lovely wife, and all the teachers, and the pastors of this great work. It's the missionaries in the fields, and all that is connected with it, Lord, and that would take in the entire church of the living God.
Bless, Lord, and may we have such an outpouring of Spirit, in this coming week, that hundreds of precious souls will find their position at Calvary. Grant it, Lord. Strengthen our voices, and bless our Brother DuPlessis and also the others that are helping, the singers, and all that's connected with it; for we ask it in Jesus' name. Amen.

11 Just for a short time I would like to call your attention now to three phases of this Scripture that had just been read. One of them I would call it, "Mount Carmel"; the next one, "The Juniper Tree"; and the next, "The Cave."
Elijah had just had a great day before him, and God had been preparing Elijah.

12 And as I was standing behind the curtain tonight, listening to my most able brother, David DuPlessis, speaking of what a ministry of the supernatural meant. No one knows unless you have to go through with it what it means. Many times people has thought I was an isolationist, because that I'm not out among the people. It isn't because I don't like people---I love people---but I can't be a servant of God and be a servant of the people at the same time. I must keep myself before God so that I can serve His people.
And I believe that any minister of the Gospel has no business, just before he goes to the pulpit, of being out social gatherings, and great dinners, and so forth. He comes to the pulpit unfit, unanointed. I think that a minister ought to lay in the Shekinah glory, in the presence of God before he walks out before an audience.
I'm a great believer in prayer; that's what changes things, is prayer.

13 And did you ever notice after the wickedness of the night has settled down ... and did you ever walk out of a morning real early after all the demons and the roadhouses and ... has quietened down and gone to rest, all the wickedness has settled. Then you can walk out, early of a morning, in that stillness and quietness of the morning, the dew has brought the fragrance of the flowers. It's refreshing to come out into such an atmosphere.
And so is it when we can come out of the room of prayer. What a privilege it is for me each night to go into that little room where Mrs. McPherson, and Paul Rader, and great men standing there hearing that song, "Only believe, only believe, all things are possible." Do you know who wrote that song? It was Paul Rader.
And I've thought standing back there wonder when Paul had the inspiration to write that song, if he knowed that little old boy sitting at his feet, would be my theme song around and around the world. We don't know what we're doing when we're speaking under inspiration. It has no end to it; it just carries on.

14 I like Longfellow when he said, "Footprints on the sands of time."
Footprints, that perhaps another,
Sailing over life's solemn main,
For forlorn its shipwrecked brother,
Seeing, shall take heart again.
Lives of great men all remind us
And we can make our lives sublime,
With partings, leave behind us
Footprints on the sands of time.

15 I like that. What you do, somebody's watching you.
And Elijah had been up in Mount Carmel for a long time. God had been feeding him by the ravens. And finally, there come a time where God was preparing that man for a great outstanding miracle. And he had called all Israel together, and thought, surely, if they could see the supernatural hand of God move, they would believe that God was God. For the nation was polluted with a backslidden king, Ahab, and a wicked idolatrous Jezebel. They had brought the nation under idolatry, and it was breaking the heart of this servant of God.
And do you know, as I said the other night, "People, we better check up on our experience, for the Holy Ghost is only going to anoint in the last days those who sigh and cry for the abomination that's did in the city."

Ezekiel 9:4 And the LORD said unto him, Go through the midst of the city, through the midst of Jerusalem, and set a mark upon the foreheads of the men that sigh and that cry for all the abominations that be done in the midst thereof.

16 Today we can shout, we can scream, we can speak with tongues, have signs and things, but where is that sincerity of ... so sincere about the Word of God and the church of God until it grieves our heart to see sin going on. And Elijah had come into all of this.
Then when he called all of Israel together, and he made a challenge to them, "Let the God that is supernatural, let Him that can show Himself alive, let Him be God. If all of your theologies," he was speaking to them, "if Balaam is a God ... if he can answer, let him answer. Let the God that answers, let the God that keeps His Word be God."
If that isn't a challenge tonight to the world again, "Let the God that keeps His Word be God."

1 Kings 18:24 And call ye on the name of your gods, and I will call on the name of the LORD: and the God that answereth by fire, let him be God. And all the people answered and said, It is well spoken.

17 So what happened? He called them together and the God of heaven answered, and a supernatural sign to Israel that He was still the God that could answer by fire, and He did just what He always did: answered prayer, kept His Word.
And after all of this, still it wasn't sufficient, and little old Elijah ... he didn't know what to do, so he run to the juniper tree. I'm glad that there is a juniper tree. All God's people needs to go to that juniper tree. It's a place where he was so discouraged, he didn't know what to do. So he ran out to himself, and got under the juniper tree. Many of us feel like going there.
And today, when we see the institutions filled with people of God, nervous breakdowns, tensions, oh, it makes us all want to run to the juniper tree.

1 Kings 18:38 Then the fire of the LORD fell, and consumed the burnt sacrifice, and the wood, and the stones, and the dust, and licked up the water that was in the trench.

1 Kings 19:4 But he himself went a day's journey into the wilderness, and came and sat down under a juniper tree: and he requested for himself that he might die; and said, It is enough; now, O LORD, take away my life; for I am not better than my fathers.

18 I think we could express it like the old colored lady said down South when she had been hit by an automobile. A car had struck her, and they asked her if she wanted to sue for damages. She said, "Lawsy no, child. I don't need damage, I need repair."
And I think that's about the way the church needs tonight, is a repair---a place under the juniper tree so we can be alone. The prophet that great day, how disappointed he was that he had done just exactly what God told him to do; and he thought surely if He did that, the people would believe it. But he come to find out that all the miracles that God told him to perform, he did it; and still Jezebel not only refused it, but she said she would stop his campaign. He couldn't have no more of those campaigns; she would cut his head off if he did.
You see when the devil gets a hold of a person, he just does him awful. And he thought the signs and the wonders of a living God would be sufficient, but it wasn't.

19 So his poor heart was broke, and he ran to the juniper tree for refuge. And he laid out there, and I can see him leaving his servant many miles behind, and just went to himself out under the tree. All of us have a little place we go to when we get in those troubles.
I got a little cave that the FBI couldn't find me, that I get into, stay in there for two or three days; have to wade up a creek, up over a hill, through a branch, go under a tree, and go down into a cave. And there's always somewhere that we can retreat, and get in the presence of God again.

20 And I believe, friends, that no man has a right to profess Christianity, as a Christian, until he's found such a retreat. There may come a time when men who are worldly-trained (not godly-sent) might to able to explain all the supernatural away from the Bible. They might be able to satisfy the carnal mind that doesn't know God, that the days of miracles are passed, there's no such a thing as the Holy Ghost.
But if a man has ever had an experience where you met God, all the theologians in the world could never take that experience away from you. You met God face to face, and you know what you're talking about, like Moses at that sacred sands in the back side of the desert. When a man ever meets God upon them sacred sands of that secret place of retreat, no devils in hell can ever take that away from him, for he knows he talked face to face with God. They can explain anything they want to, but you were there when it happened, and you know what you speak of.

21 And Elijah knew that his God was real. And so he had brought it to a showdown, but then when the people had turned down the supernatural sign, "Oh, there was nothing to it. The lightning might have struck." Jezebel made her threats, and all of her gang. They didn't want to give up their social societies. And little old Elijah's heart was broke.
Any minister knows what Monday morning is, after a hard day on Sunday. Compare that... You preacher's wives, you know how your husband is on Monday morning after he has preached hard two or three times Sunday. He's so worn out.
What do you think about poor little old Elijah? There he was, no one to comfort him, and he stopped under this juniper tree. And he knelt down, and looked up to God and said, "Lord, I'm so tired, and so weary. Why don't You just take my life and let me go? My fathers all went, so let me go."

1 Kings 19:4 But he himself went a day's journey into the wilderness, and came and sat down under a juniper tree: and he requested for himself that he might die; and said, It is enough; now, O LORD, take away my life; for I am not better than my fathers.

22 Men who deal in the supernatural, who stay in the presence of God, and when you see God's program turned down, and you preach it, and you try your best, and do everything that God tells you to do, and still they walk away from it. It's heartbreaking. God almighty has done enough here in Angelus Temple this last week, till it had Los Angeles set afire. No wonder He said, "It'll be more tolerable for Sodom and Gomorrah in the day of the judgment."
And the poor little fellow, skinny, laying there and his gray hair hanging over his shoulders... God said, "My servant needs some rest." God's mercy to His servant. He just laid him down on the bunch of weeds and he went to sleep.
I'd imagine there was ten thousand angels watching him sleep. There's one assurance the believer has: Though the world turned him down, yet God loves him. The world may call you "holy roller," they may call you "fanatic," but if you're true to God, there's one sure thing: God loves you, and His angels are encamped about those who fear Him.

1 Kings 19:6 And he looked, and, behold, there was a cake baken on the coals, and a cruse of water at his head. And he did eat and drink, and laid him down again.

Psalm 34:7 The angel of the LORD encampeth round about them that fear him, and delivereth them.

Matthew 10:15 Verily I say unto you, It shall be more tolerable for the land of Sodom and Gomorrha in the day of judgment, than for that city.

Matthew 11:24 But I say unto you, That it shall be more tolerable for the land of Sodom in the day of judgment, than for thee.

Mark 6:11 And whosoever shall not receive you, nor hear you, when ye depart thence, shake off the dust under your feet for a testimony against them. Verily I say unto you, It shall be more tolerable for Sodom and Gomorrha in the day of judgment, than for that city.

Luke 10:12 But I say unto you, that it shall be more tolerable in that day for Sodom, than for that city.

23 I'd imagine on every limb, all around through the place, was swarms of angels. And God came down and He said, "My poor little tired servant. He's so nervous and tore up, he don't know what to do. I want to pick out the angel standing here that has got the softest hands. Don't you scare him; walk over and stroke his brow right easy. And I want the best cook among you, and go up there, and get all the vitamins that you can find, and put in this corn meal. The world has turned him down, but I'm going to treat him right." Hallelujah! That means "praise our God"; don't get scared of that.
"Bring forth the best that we got, cook him a corn cake, and set him down some water." And this soft-handed angel went over and stroked the little servant of God on the brow.
Remember, if you've done your best, God has still got those angels in order. He loves you just the same as He loved Elijah.

1 Kings 19:6 And he looked, and, behold, there was a cake baken on the coals, and a cruse of water at his head. And he did eat and drink, and laid him down again.

1 Kings 19:7 And the angel of the LORD came again the second time, and touched him, and said, Arise and eat; because the journey is too great for thee.

24 And he stroked his brow, and Elijah woke up. And I may hear him say something like this, "The Lord your God who loves you ... you've done your best, Elijah. I only sent those signs for a witness, that in the day of the judgment, they'll have to stand it alone. You've done just as I told you to do. I know you're tired and weary now. And the Lord God, creator of heavens and earth, has sent me to feed you this bread and this water."
Elijah, rubbing his eyes, raising up, little frail shaking hands, took a hold of the bread and eat it. Just then the great angelic choir come out, formed a little panoramic around him like that, and begin to sing the songs like no mother could coo her baby to sleep. Let him sleep again. Then Father turned around and said, "You know, I love him so much. The journey's great. He's got a lot to go through with yet; I'm not through with him. So, I must feed him again."
So He called the angels, and dumped in another big bundle of vitamins, and cooked up another corn cake, and set him a cruse of water, and stroked his brow, and fed him again.

1 Kings 19:7 And the angel of the LORD came again the second time, and touched him, and said, Arise and eat; because the journey is too great for thee.

25 I'm so glad that there is a juniper tree; when we get all wore and tore up, we can go under that juniper tree and find spiritual vitamins to travel any kind of a trip.
There he laid. Woke up feeling a little better, and he went forty days and forty nights. I'd imagine if there's a doctor listening in, wouldn't you like to know what kind of a vitamin He used that will keep a man on a corn cake and a glass of water for forty days and forty nights? That's the power of our God.
Then he finds a cave way back in the wilderness. And the first thing you know, God found him back in there. And He called to him, and there went a rushing wind through that tore up the mountain. The rocks rent and fell down. Elijah just sat and listened. And there came a shaking, an earthquake that shook the mountain. But Elijah just sat still. And then come the fire fell, lightning flashed, and Elijah sat still. But then a still small voice spoke, and Elijah answered. He wrapped his mantle over his face and walked out.

1 Kings 19:8 And he arose, and did eat and drink, and went in the strength of that meat forty days and forty nights unto Horeb the mount of God.

1 Kings 19:11 And he said, Go forth, and stand upon the mount before the LORD. And, behold, the LORD passed by, and a great and strong wind rent the mountains, and brake in pieces the rocks before the LORD; but the LORD was not in the wind: and after the wind an earthquake; but the LORD was not in the earthquake:

1 Kings 19:12 And after the earthquake a fire; but the LORD was not in the fire: and after the fire a still small voice.

1 Kings 19:13 And it was so, when Elijah heard it that he wrapped his face in his mantle, and went out, and stood in the entering in of the cave. And, behold, there came a voice unto him, and said, What doest thou here, Elijah?

26 I just wonder that if we haven't listened too much to rushing mighty winds, and fire, and blood, and everything else, and have failed to hear that still small voice. Wonder if we've looked so much to gifts that we can't see the Giver. You know, America is prone for noise. That's the reason rock-and-roll is so popular, and all these other lots of noises.
Now we've had rushing mighty winds, we've had great shakings, but where has God been in all of it? Elijah said He was not in it. What did we do with rushing winds? What have we done with all kinds of sensations? Where has it got us? Denominated so tight that we won't give fellowship one to the other. What have we done by it? Is the church better off? Is it unified by rushing winds? No, sir. It's only unified when them people will hear that still small voice of God.
That's where we're failing, friends. When God appears on the sign with something and proves Himself to be God, instead of going after the noise, let's go after the one that made the noise. We forget the Giver.

27 Paul said, "Though I speak with tongues of men and angels, and have not love, it profits me nothing. Though I can have faith to move mountains, and have not love, it profits me nothing."
See, we're so prone to go after the gift instead of the Giver. When you see signs and wonders take place, don't notice the signs so much, but look what's behind it. It's that still small voice that speaks.
That's the reason we can't have revivals in America, is because people go after gifts instead of the Giver. That's what's the matter with the world tonight. All we got if you want great crowds and audiences, you have to have a real classical Hollywood outfit with a lot of show. American people want entertainment. They don't want the true Gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ. So therefore, the radio and the television will give them more entertainment than the church can do and then they stay home. All that comes out is the elect of God that's still hungering, and thirsting, and calling, and crying for the real thing of God.

1 Corinthians 13:1 Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, and have not charity, I am become as sounding brass, or a tinkling cymbal.

1 Corinthians 13:2 And though I have the gift of prophecy, and understand all mysteries, and all knowledge; and though I have all faith, so that I could remove mountains, and have not charity, I am nothing.

28 It all looks bad when we think of the Lord God of heaven what He's a-doing, giving great miracles and signs, and then the people don't listen to it.
They'll go and say, "Oh, I saw it once. Oh, I've been in Brother Branham's meeting; I saw discernment. I was in Oral Roberts' meeting; I saw him tell how many was in the audience should come and didn't do it, and so forth, and how he told them what would happen. I seen all of that. I've been to the Pentecostals and heard the rushing wind and the speaking. I heard all of that." That's right, but what was behind it?
There's where you fail, to not listen to the still small voice of God to call you. There's where the trouble lays, is in that. Certainly. The world can mimic and out-entertain. The church is not an entertainment. It's not suppose to entertain. It's supposed to preach a new birth that makes a new creature in Christ. But the world is looking for entertainment, some social parties, or some fantastic of some sort.

29 Now, I want you to notice what taken place. It isn't always the noisy things that's great things. It's not the noisy things. A wagon can go out in the field; when it's unloaded, it'll bump, and rattle, and make a lot of noise. Can come right back over them same bumps loaded with good things, and won't even make a squeak. Why? It's loaded. What the church needs tonight is to be loaded, filled with the love of God.
The sun can draw a million gallons of water with less noise than we can pump a glass full out of a pump. That's right. The heavens can sprinkle dew all over the earth with less noise than you can sprinkle your front lawn. Certainly. Did you ever hear the planets turning? Great things are quiet things.
Watch the Holy Spirit when it comes in tonight, how quiet it gets everything. But we're after sensations, running after little things, failing to hear that voice.

30 Did you ever hear the day break? No, you never heard the day break, yet it scatters all the darkness. If we would only listen to the voice of Him that speaks behind these things, there would be fellowship amongst all churches. Methodist, Baptist, Protestants, Catholic, and all together would tear down the middle walls of partition, and we'd have brotherly love.
This Angelus Temple tonight would be packed out to the roof, standing out yonder on the yard somewhere, if we could only hear that voice of God speaking behind the thing. Remember those things went first. The voice spoke last; it was the last thing.
We've had rushing winds, and thunder, and everything else. But the hour is coming now that the voice of God speaks. And He proves that it's Him. It was Him that sent the thunder. And they went after the thunder instead of listening for the voice. He sent the wind, but they went after the wind instead of the voice.

31 You know what? It isn't the little rippling pool that makes a lot of noise, that reflects the stars of heaven. It's the little pool that's deep, sound, quiet that reflects the stars. All these things are God's way of doing it.
I wonder if we tonight haven't went so much after the noise---that we have put so much interest in that---until we forgot the little voice. Say, "What are you trying to say, Brother Branham?"
I've got letter after letter this week, that the people wrote to me and said, "I come over to the Angelus Temple, thought I'd hear a servant of God. Why, you're still a Baptist. Why, you're as dead as they are. You ain't got no spirit. You're just as formal as the rest of the Baptists."

32 Listen, brother, you might have a lot of noise, but I wonder how much spirit's behind it, is what I'm a wondering. It isn't noise that makes spirit. I've seen people that could jump and run and shout and play bands and run up-and-down the platform, and didn't have enough real true faith to stop a toothache. That's right.
It's that still small voice of God that operates the power of God, that makes things real, and brings life to the church. That's what I'm speaking of. It ain't noise that counts; it's the vindication, the Spirit of God, that makes the difference. It has been here each night performing signs and wonders and miracles among the people. It's true.
I don't see how Pentecostal people, who claim to have kissed the cup of the golden blessings of Jesus Christ, can sit still hardly when the Holy Ghost is a moving in such things. But it's because it ain't got a noise behind it. The noise went first, then the still small voice come. We've had those times; it was all God's way.

33 God was attracting the attention of Elijah. And Elijah represents the church. He was making him listen. But now when the time comes for the voice to speak, that something in our heart, we look and wonder then what is it all about.
Sometime ago I seen a picture in Germany called "The Cloud Picture." It looks horrible when you look at it. It looks like a big mess of clouds all wadded together, and it looks like a horrible thing. But as you get closer to it---closer you get---you find out that it's not clouds. It's angels' wings beating together, rejoicing the praises of God.
And you've seen the pentecostal experiences, and you've looked at it from afar off and say, "Oh, listen at that, and all this, and the thunders, and rushing winds." But if you'll just get close to it, get into it... You'll find out the closer you get, the more real it becomes; and that still small voice of God brings out the angelic part of God, and speaks to His people. It's not as rough as it looks like it is. It's the glory of God, but you're standing off looking at it.
Like Jezebel: She wasn't up on Mount Carmel to see it happen. They come and told her, "Oh, the prophet done great signs."
"I will chop his head off." You can't stand off and look at anything.

1 Kings 19:1 And Ahab told Jezebel all that Elijah had done, and withal how he had slain all the prophets with the sword.

34 John Sproule, a friend of mine, taking his wife, and took a trip over to Alsace-Lorraine, France. And the guide was taking them through a certain garden, and he showed them a statue of the Lord Jesus. And Brother Sproule said he was looking at that statue. He said, "What did the sculpturer have in his mind? Why, I don't see any sufferings of Christ. I don't see nothing, just looks like the statue. What does that mean?"
And the guide said to him said, "Mr. Sproule, you're perhaps criticizing that statue."
Said, "I am." Said, "I don't know what the sculpturer had in mind." He said, "The thing of it is, you have to know what the sculpturer had in mind before you can see what he was trying to do."
He said, "Now, come down here."
And he went down to the foot of the cross, and there was a pad. He said, "Kneel down." He said, "Now, look up."
And Mr. Sproule said he thought his heart would break. There was every agony that Jesus went through on the cross, all featured.
He said, "You see, sir, the statue was made to get down and look up to; not stand off and look over at."

35 Well, that's the way pentecost is. And that's the way the Word of God is. That's the way the promises of God is. It isn't a stand off at one side and say, "Oh, there's nothing to it." Get down on your knees one time, and look up to it, and you'll see altogether a different picture.
You'll hear something speak to you through that Word that you just picked up and say, "Oh, it's just a word that's wrote on paper."
You get down on your knees one time and say, "Lord God, is this Your Word? Is this Your promise to me, O Lord?" And you'll feel the tears running down the side of your cheek. It'll look all together different than what it did.

36 If you'll do that, the Methodist will look different to you Baptist. And you Pentecostal will look different to the rest of them. You'll all see God, if you'll just get down and respect it, and listen for God's voice, and take the Scripture, and take the things of God in the light that they are meant for. God's Word is not to be criticized; it's to be believed.
Someone said to me not long ago, said, "Brother Branham, Jesus said, 'Greater than this shall you do.'" Said, "Sure. Greater is 'preaching the Gospel.'"
Jesus said, "These things that I do shall you also; these works that I do shall you also---the same works---only more of it." It would be in the universal church around the world, where now it could only be in one place: That was in Christ. But when Christ is in His church, the same works that He did will be going on completely around the world all the time.

John 14:12 Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father.

37 What we fail to see is to listen to that still small voice that speaks to us; then wrap ourself in His righteousness, and walk out saying, "Lord God, did You speak to me? Does it mean me, O Lord? I am here tonight, I'm sick, I'm needy. Oh, if I could have only stood on Mount Carmel and seen Elijah---after all that fasting and prayer---bring down that fire from heaven, bring down a sign out of the heaven and prove that You were still God, the God that was with the Hebrew children in the fiery furnace; the God that was in the burning bush with Moses; that same God was here on Mount Carmel. If I could see You do that, or do as You did when you was manifested in flesh here on earth, I'd worship You with all my heart." Then you'll hear God speak to you when you do that.
Let us bow our heads. [A message in tongues and interpretation is given.]

38 Thank the Lord. Now, radio audience, you might not have heard that. It was a speaking with tongues, and an interpretation of tongues. That's a gift that belongs in the church. God placed it in the church Himself. It was after the message; it came just in order, not while the message is going on. The spirit of the prophets is subject to the prophet. Now, it came just in order, and it called the church to repent and to come forward with God. May the Lord God bless.

1 Corinthians 14:32 And the spirits of the prophets are subject to the prophets.

39 Lord Jesus, we thank You for these things, these manifestations. And may the people see tonight that Thou art God that heals the sick. You're a God that knows the secret of the heart. You're the God of Pentecost. You're the God of Elijah. You're the God of Moses. You're the God that will come some day, and reveal Himself unto us, and take us up into glory. We thank You for Your presence, and for Your words of comfort to us, and for the warning for us to repent. I pray, Lord God, that You'll grant all these things will be accomplished in the name of the Lord Jesus.
Now, Father, as the pray line is to be formed in a few moments, I do not know what will be in that prayer line, but Thou does know. And I pray that You'll do things tonight that the people will sit, and watch, and listen for that little still small voice of God. And when they see Your Spirit begin to move among the people, may they be happy and rejoice, and accept Jesus as their Saviour and healer; for we ask it in Jesus' name. Amen.

40 Now, this last five ... four or five nights, we haven't give out any prayer cards; just let the Holy Spirit move across the audience calling the people, and doing the things that He desires to do. And last evening once, there was something strange happened last evening that hasn't happened before in the Temple. That was... It's just a gift that you just humble yourself, or relax before God, and He uses your speech. God has no voice but yours and mine. Our hands is His hands. If we can just be so submitted to the Spirit that it can use our voice, and use our hands, and use our eyes...
Now, you don't have to do these things; God just sets those in church whoever... It's signs that the people might know that God still lives. It's Jesus, the Son of God, working through His Body that He has redeemed. We're not worthy, certainly not, but He's worthy. And it's not us to say, "This one's worthy, and that one's not worthy." It's God to do the choosing of those things.
Now, last evening I couldn't get the people to understand way back in the audiences, and where it would be calling them. And then I would just ask the Lord, and He would call their name. And it come to one little woman that was suffering with something---I do not remember---and when the Holy Spirit spoke and called her, what her trouble was, then she never responded to it.
And just in a few moments I heard my own voice speaking in another language. And come to find out, the little woman was Finnish; she was a Finn. And the Holy Spirit had called her name, and told her all about it, and told her to praise God. I don't know nothing about Finnish. It was the Holy Spirit calling that woman out, seeing that she wouldn't be left out, that He speaks in every language.

41 At the day of Pentecost every language under heaven was gathered together there. And God spoke in every dialect there was under the heavens. And if we can just submit ourselves... Now that's... Who could criticize that not being Pentecost?
When the Holy Spirit here... I don't even know English; I'm a Kentuckian. I don't even know good English. But when the Holy Spirit got ahold, it spoke Finnish, and called the woman, and her trouble, and told her to praise the Lord---in Finnish. There happened to be people here who could understand it, and translate it, and come to me this morning, telling me about the little woman raised up shaking her hands, and praising God. That's sovereign grace.
That ought to make every sick person in here take a hold of Christ. That ought to make every cripple rise to his feet and believe the Lord Jesus. Listen for that voice.

42 Now, tonight the American people has been taught laying on of hands. That's a Jewish custom, never was to the Gentiles. But we've been taught that. What you've been taught, that's what you believe.
Jairus said, "My daughter lies sick almost to death; come lay Your hands on her." That's the tradition of the elders. She lived.
But the Roman---the Gentile---said, "I'm not worthy that You would come under my roof; just speak the Word and my servant will live."
And He turned around and admired that Roman, said, "I haven't seen faith like that in Israel."
I don't know why it is that my ministry doesn't take a hold in America like it does overseas. I just... It must be the indoctrination of the churches, and so forth. It just simply seems like I haven't got campaign managers, and I haven't got a great big bunch of cooperation, and somebody to go around and make so many hundred churches cooperate, and bring great singers, and so forth. I don't desire that. That ain't my... I believe the ministry is to the elect, to those who want to listen.

Matthew 8:8 The centurion answered and said, Lord, I am not worthy that thou shouldest come under my roof: but speak the word only, and my servant shall be healed.

Matthew 8:10 When Jesus heard it, he marvelled, and said to them that followed, Verily I say unto you, I have not found so great faith, no, not in Israel.

Matthew 9:18 While he spake these things unto them, behold, there came a certain ruler, and worshipped him, saying, My daughter is even now dead: but come and lay thy hand upon her, and she shall live.

Mark 5:23 And besought him greatly, saying, My little daughter lieth at the point of death: I pray thee, come and lay thy hands on her, that she may be healed; and she shall live.

Luke 7:6 Then Jesus went with them. And when he was now not far from the house, the centurion sent friends to him, saying unto him, Lord, trouble not thyself: for I am not worthy that thou shouldest enter under my roof:

Luke 7:7 Wherefore neither thought I myself worthy to come unto thee: but say in a word, and my servant shall be healed.

Luke 7:9 When Jesus heard these things, he marvelled at him, and turned him about, and said unto the people that followed him, I say unto you, I have not found so great faith, no, not in Israel.

43 We was overseas the other day, over in Kingston, Jamaica. They did not know we were coming until Thursday afternoon. Friday afternoon we were there. The first night there's about five thousand; second night about fifteen thousand; third night about thirty-something thousand, and fifteen thousand came to Christ at one time. And I called some people to the platform, and the Lord began to reveal to them. As soon as that taken place, out through that great wide audience---There were thousands times thousands seated---they got up off of little old cots, and stretchers, and wheel carts that they had been pushed in. And you could pick up bus loads of them ... or truck loads, laying on the ground for one ten minutes of prayer. They believed it.
Went right on down into Puerto Rico, and the same thing repeated again. And strike America, it's different. Why? I wonder. And in South Africa---Durban, South Africa... [Gap in the audio.]

44 Brother DuPlessis is here in this country at Durban where we had many thousands of people gathered out. When five people come to the altar ... upon the platform to be prayed for, and the Holy Spirit revealed things like that, I made one prayer and they estimated that twenty-five thousand outstanding healings taken place---twenty-five thousand. They'd taken seven bus loads ... or truck loads of old crutches and sticks off the fair grounds where that they had laid. And thirty thousand surrendered their heart to Jesus at one time. Why can't we Americans believe like that?
You know what? I say this with reverence---not to you people, not at all; my voice is going out in radio land---but America is burnt over. It has been combed, and gleaned, and glided, and fished, and pulled, and so forth till it's just about ready for judgment now. That's right. The next thing is judgment. And we're going to get it; just remember that.

45 Tonight, we're calling the prayer cards to pray for them. There isn't a line of discernment; it's only a line to pray for the sick. And I believe... What prayer cards did they give out? What prayer cards did they give out today? C's? All right, prayer cards C's is the one we will be calling then. All right there's about a hundred, I suppose. Usually they give out a hundred.
And who has C number 1, raise up your hand? A woman sitting back here in the middle aisle. Come if you can, come right up here. Number 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, let them come first and line right up here now. And they'll be plumb out into the hall, and they all get lined out.
And to the radio audience, I wish you could be here tonight in this lovely Angelus Temple to see this great mammoth gathering here. All the main floor seated, and the first balcony seated practically out. People are sitting, longing, waiting for something to happen. Before me sits people in wheelchairs, and in cots, and so forth waiting for the moving of the Spirit.

46 I wish you could only be here to see this. They're waiting with great anticipations. And just as sure as God of heaven lives and reigns tonight, if they'll only listen to the voice of God, there will not be a feeble person in our midst in a few minutes---if they'll just believe it.
All right, we're calling the prayer line now 1 to 10, 10 to 20. Prayer card C like in California, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16, 17, 18, 19, 20 take your place. All right. While they're coming, 20 to 50 take your place, 20, 30, 40, 50 just take your position now in the line. Some of you will be better off if you go out the door at the front of the aisle, come right around, and come down along the side; I believe you could line up a lot better.
You who are unable to move, you just show the usher your card; and when your number is called, you'll be brought right here to the platform for prayer.

47 Are you expecting something to happen? Are you waiting to see the moving of ... the troubling of the water? What did the water do when it was troubled? It was a sign that the Angel of the Lord was on the water. Is that right? It was a supernatural sign to show the current of the water changed.
A troubled water is when current's going one way, and the winds a-blowing it back the other way. That's troubled water. And when we see troubled water, we know that it has to be something to make that water run different from it's current.

48 Under that porch where these great spouts run out, and the waters float around, by the sheep pool, coming down.
Now the people laid there in great multitudes, and they didn't wait just for one night, two nights, three nights; they would wait for months and years. Some of them had laid there year in and out, waiting for the troubling of the water. And the first time that somebody stepped in with faith enough to be healed, it drawed the virtue of the Angel, off the water. And they had to wait for another season. What a season was 'lotted, I do not know---perhaps weeks. But they waited patiently for it to come into the water.
And as historians tell us, they would stab one another trying to get into the water, see who could get there first, to test their faith with the Angel of the Lord. God in all ages, at all times, has always had a way of divine healing, always. All the way back in the Old Testament, all the way through the New Testament, down through the new age, right to this present time, God's had a fountain opened for those who believe for divine healing.
All right, 50 to 60 now stand if you will, C-50 to 60. Take your place over here. I believe maybe there's a little room here you could come through this a way now, and just keep going back, or if you want to go out and go around, the ushers there will line you up.

John 5:4 For an angel went down at a certain season into the pool, and troubled the water: whosoever then first after the troubling of the water stepped in was made whole of whatsoever disease he had.

49 Now, while 60 to 70---up to 75---let them line up, and start around the row. Now if you cannot move, well, then you just show somebody your prayer card, and the ushers will bring you to the platform when your number is called. They'll see when they get them lined up. That's the way we line them up so we know we got everybody in the line that's called. How many doesn't have a prayer card and you want God to heal you? Anywhere, just raise up your hand.
Have you noticed in the days gone by this last week how the Holy Spirit goes up into the balconies, all around on both sides, and all through the building? And not one time does it fail. If that's right---to the audience out here---say, "Amen." Perfectly every time, for it's your faith that does that. Your faith makes you well.
You know the woman that touched His garment, He said, "Thy faith has saved thee." Did you notice that? S-a-v-e-d, has saved thee. The Greek word there I believe is sozo. Is that right? Thy faith has saved thee, just saved physically is same as being saved spiritually.

50 Every time it's translated the word saved in the Bible is sozo which means "saved." Saved physically, saved spiritually, same word all the time; "Thy faith has saved thee," saved from the sickness, saved from death, saved from the grave, saved from a premature grave. Yes and saved from a devil's hell, saved to a God's kingdom, sure.
All right, 75 to 100 now take your places, C-75 to 100. Now, go out this way, and turn into the side of the aisle, 'cause this is all filled up in here now, all the way to the door. And just reverently take your place, and the ushers will place you. And we will start in the prayer line just in the next few moments. Just as soon as we cause no commotion; we don't want anything of the Holy Spirit lost.

Luke 7:50 And he said to the woman, Thy faith hath saved thee; go in peace.

Luke 18:42 And Jesus said unto him, Receive thy sight: thy faith hath saved thee.

51 Now, listen. When you're watching for the Holy Spirit... Now, there's nobody believes in shouting and rejoicing in the Spirit any more than I do, because I believe that anything that has got life has emotion. If your religion hasn't got some life in it, you better bury it. It's dead. It brings emotion.
But while we're coming to God, let's come reverently, quietly, listening to see what He will say. And then when He does something for us, that's the time to let the glory of God ring from our hearts.
Be reverent, watch, and if out in the meeting at any time you feel that God has spoke to your heart while this line's a-going through, then you raise your hands and say, "Thank You, Lord Jesus, for healing me."
Then tell somebody sitting by you. By the blood of the Lamb and their testimony they overcame. Is that right? You overcome by the blood of the Lamb and by your testimony. If we can just have faith and believe in the Lord God that He will do these things for us...

Revelation 12:11 And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony; and they loved not their lives unto the death.

52 Now, it's early; there's no need of rushing. Just be reverent and quiet; just about fifteen minutes, the line will be finished. And I believe, if you people will take this much time... And you in radio land, you be sure to do this: When you're hearing the people rejoicing over their healing, the prayer being made for the sick, then you rejoice too, and accept Jesus as your healer.
Remember, God is omnipresent, omniscient, omnipotent, infinite. The infinite God: omnipresent, "everywhere"; omniscient, "knows all things"; "all power" for omnipotent. That's our God. He's there in the hospital with you, just the same as He'd be here at the church.
You can't hide a saint from his prayer. They throwed one one time in a belly of a whale. And he went down to the bottom of the sea with weeds wrapped around his neck, but you can't hide a saint from his prayer. He turned over and looked around and seen the whale's belly everywhere. But he said, "They're all lying vanities; once more will I look to Your holy temple, Lord." And when he began to look towards the temple... Solomon, when dedicating the temple, said, "If Thy people be in trouble anywhere, and will look towards this holy place, and pray, then hear from heaven, Lord, and deliver them." And Jonah believed that prayer.

1 Kings 8:30 And hearken thou to the supplication of thy servant, and of thy people Israel, when they shall pray toward this place: and hear thou in heaven thy dwelling place: and when thou hearest, forgive.

Jonah 2:4 Then I said, I am cast out of thy sight; yet I will look again toward thy holy temple.

Jonah 2:7 When my soul fainted within me I remembered the LORD: and my prayer came in unto thee, into thine holy temple.

Jonah 2:8 They that observe lying vanities forsake their own mercy.

53 And God kept Jonah alive for three days and nights in the belly of that whale, according to the Scriptures. And if God could do that for Jonah, in the belly of the whale, looking towards a natural temple, like this one here built by human hands, how much more can He hear your prayer tonight, when you look toward the heavenly temple where Jesus sits at the right hand of God with His own blood to make intercessions on your confession. Sure.
He went down in a lions' den to deliver one of His servants. He went into a fiery furnace to deliver one. Surely He will come to the hospital where you're listening. Surely He will come to that little humble home where you're laying there waiting. He will come up in the balcony. He will come down on the floor. He will come anywhere you are and deliver you from sin or sickness, if you'll only have faith and believe Him. Will you do that now?

54 Just a few minutes longer, and they're out into the hall now, lining the people down the hall, for there's a great number waiting to be prayed for. I love that song; let's hum it once.
The great Physician now is near,
The sympathizing Jesus,
He speaks the drooping heart to cheer,
Oh, hear the voice...
(That still small voice of Jesus!)
Sweetest note in seraph's song,
Sweetest name on mortal tongue,
Sweetest carol ever sung,
Oh, Jesus blessed Jesus.
Everyone be seated now. The line has been formed. The ushers have their places. I'd ask you now, be just as reverent as you can.

55 Now, to you that's standing in the line, you're noticing that there's a difference in my ministry, because I'm just praying, laying hands on the sick, because that's your request for me to do so. If I should stop in discernment for everyone on this line, I'd be here for several nights, and I would not be able to stand here. But just one or two or three, that I'd be so weak they'd take me from the platform as they usually do.
Now, remember if you've got unconfessed sin in your heart, I'm placing it back in your lap. Worse than this will come upon you. And if you've got unconfessed sin, step out of that prayer line and make it right with God, then come back and get in the prayer line. Remember, I'm not responsible by a divine gift to take a curse that God permitted Satan to put on, to bring you to Him. I'm just going to pray.

56 And now, if you feel right in your heart with God, and you feel that everything's all right, and you have a right, you're believing that God's going to heal you, then walk up here reverently. And when you pass this platform, just as you're baptized or any other order of the church, go off the platform rejoicing.
My hands won't have anything to do with it---laying on you---unless you accept your healing from Jesus Christ. That was His order: to lay hands on the sick, and these signs shall follow them that believe. If they lay hands on the sick, they shall recover.
Now, Lord, there's great anticipation and people are waiting. Now, the rest of the service is Yours, O Lord. I pray that there won't be a feeble person in our midst. May the Holy Spirit speak down into the hearts of the people tonight. May they not look for some great thunder or some great rushing wind, but may they listen. That's why I spoke that tonight, Father, that they might down in the depths of their heart catch the vision of what God is doing. Grant it, Lord, for I ask it in Jesus' name. Amen.
All right, let the prayer line be started now. You just come one at a time, and we will pray.

Mark 16:17 And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues;

Mark 16:18 They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover.

57 How do you do. Now, just stand right over here just a moment, lady. It is that you are the first one in the line. Now, that the audience... How many in this visible audience has never seen the ministry before, never seen my ministry? Raise up your hands, would you? My, there's many ... many hundreds of them that hasn't seen it.
Now, if the Lord Jesus was standing here by this woman... I do not know her; God knows her. Are we strangers to one another, lady? If that's right raise up your hand, so the people will see. We've never meet before.
Well, now if you want to know that the Bible still lives, here's a case like Saint John 4. A man and a woman meet for their first time, like Jesus met the woman at the well. He talked to her a few minutes until He found what her trouble was. How many knows what her trouble was? Raise your hand. Sure, she was living with her sixth husband. And Jesus told her, "Go get your husband and come here."
She said, "I have no husband."

John 4:16 Jesus saith unto her, Go, call thy husband, and come hither.

John 4:17 The woman answered and said, I have no husband. Jesus said unto her, Thou hast well said, I have no husband:

58 He said, "That's right. You've had five, and the one you're living with now is not your husband."
She said, "Sir, I perceive that You are a prophet. Now, we know when the Messiah cometh, He will tell us these things. But who are You?"
He said, "I'm He that speaks to you."
She ran into the city and said, "Come, see a man who told me the things I've done. Isn't this the Messiah?"
Now, if Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever ---and that was the Messiahic sign to that generation---it has got to be the same Messiahic sign to this generation, or He's a different Messiah. If that's true, say, "Amen."
Now, to let you know that it's not a man... God knows that I do not know this woman, I've never seen her in my life, but if the Holy Spirit will come here, and prove that He's still Messiah by using my eyes, my lips, my mouth, and her faith, and my faith... There's something she's here for. She might be a deceiver; she might be a Christian. She might be here for financial troubles; I don't know. I've never ... I have no way of knowing. She's just a woman that comes here in the prayer line.

John 4:18 For thou hast had five husbands; and he whom thou now hast is not thy husband: in that saidst thou truly.

John 4:19 The woman saith unto him, Sir, I perceive that thou art a prophet.

John 4:25 The woman saith unto him, I know that Messias cometh, which is called Christ: when he is come, he will tell us all things.

59 But if the Lord God will speak---Let her be the judge, whether it's right or not---then how many of you will actually know that the presence of Jesus Christ is here? Raise your hand and say, "I would accept it." Now, both of us... Here's a Bible; we've never met before in our lives. Now, I don't say that He will do it; if He does we will be thankful.
Now, sister, just to speak to you a moment... You don't have to look at me; just ... you're... The woman is a Christian, because from her comes a feeling of friendship. Her spirit that's in her is welcoming the Spirit that's in me.
Now, in other words, there is a daughter of God. I am His son, adopted son by Jesus Christ. She's standing there needing something. I'm standing here to pray for her. Now, if I would lay my hands on her, and say, "Go get well; Jesus Christ is going to make you well." That would be all right.

60 But now, what if the Holy Spirit comes here and reveals something that's in her life back yonder, that she knows I know nothing about. If He knows what has been, He surely will know what will be. And she will be the judge to know whether it's right or not. And then it's up to you to believe from where it comes from.
When that was done in the Bible times, the Orthodox church said, "He is a fortune teller. He's Beelzebub." They said that in their hearts.
Jesus said, "I will forgive you for saying that against Me. But someday the Holy Ghost is come to do the same thing," that's this day, "one word against it will never be forgiven in this world, or the world to come." Because they called the Spirit of God a fortune teller or a evil spirit.

Matthew 12:24 But when the Pharisees heard it, they said, This fellow doth not cast out devils, but by Beelzebub the prince of the devils.

Matthew 12:31 Wherefore I say unto you, All manner of sin and blasphemy shall be forgiven unto men: but the blasphemy against the Holy Ghost shall not be forgiven unto men.

61 The lady standing here is very nervous. And she's really needing an operation, because she's got hemorrhoids. And those hemorrhoids are breaking and bleeding. That's right, isn't it? If that's right, raise up your hand.
Now, what knowed that? Now, whatever I told her, I don't know now. See, that wasn't ... that was not my voice; it was my lips moving, but something else telling her something. That wasn't me. Now, you say, "You might have guessed that, Brother Branham." All right, let's talk to her just a moment longer so that the anointing of the Spirit will get into the building.
Now, let me just talk with her again. Yes, here it comes again. The woman's conscious that something's going on. Did you ever see the picture that the scientific world has taken of that Angel of the Lord? That's just what's on you now. If you audience, the radio, or whatever, could see right here between me and that woman is that light milling around.

62 The woman is facing an operation; it's bleeding hemorrhoids. And I keep seeing some elderly person keeps appearing here. It's a man; it's her daddy. And he's got a dark shadow of death over him. He's dying with a cancer. And he's in a hospital in a great city where a river runs by the city. It's St. Louis, Missouri. "THUS SAITH THE LORD." [The sister says, "Oh, that's true, that's true. Oh, that's true!"] Is that true? ["That's true."]
Now, do you believe the Lord? Do you believe God could reveal to me who this woman is? Would that help your faith? Now, sister, I don't know that He will; I'm just asking His grace. ["Yes, Lord."] Your first name is Alice, ["That's right."] Spade is your last name. ["That's right."] Exactly right. Return home believing and you can receive what you have asked for in the name of the Lord.
Now, let us just raise our hands and give praise to God. God bless you, my sister. Go believing now.

63 Now, if I don't say nothing to you, you'll believe anyhow, will you? All right, but your heart trouble then leave you, if you'll go and believe. In the name of the Lord Jesus may our sister be healed.
Now, sister, you're aware that the Holy Spirit is here. If I didn't tell you a thing... If I told you what was wrong with you would you believe? Would it make you believe more? But now see I can't do it all the way down the line, but if you'll believe the diabetes will leave you. Will you believe it? All right, then go and say, "Thank the Lord" and be happy, and believe with all your heart.

64 All right, sister, if I don't say nothing, just pray for you, you believe with all your heart? Lord Jesus, I pray that You'll bless this woman, and make her well in the name of Jesus Christ. Amen.

If the Lord Jesus will tell me what you're here for, or something, will you believe me to be His servant? And know that there has to be some supernatural power here to know that, or I wouldn't know it. Would you think it was a evil spirit, or the Spirit of Christ, according to the promise in the Bible? The Spirit of Jesus, thank you. Then you shall have what you've ask for.
What you're here for: You're real nervous; you've got complications. You're all broke down; you have diabetes. And let me tell you, you got something on your heart. That's a boy, your son. O God, way out there in radio land... May the Holy Ghost come upon those people out there, and may the sick be healed everywhere. May they hear now; faith cometh by hearing. And may the Gospel witness of the resurrection of Jesus Christ come through the ether waves of this radio, and heal all that's listening in that's sick. If they're in the bar room, pool room, wherever they may be, may they be healed just now, from sin and sickness in Jesus Christ's name.

71 Here's another woman standing here. We're strangers to one another, are we, sister? Do you believe me to be His servant? Do you believe God could tell me what your trouble is? Then, would it help you to believe? Would it help the audience now? Would it make you believe God more for your healing? Would it? All right, look this way, sister. Do you believe now with all your heart? There's so many praying, see, at this time.
Your trouble is extreme nervousness; you're all tore up. And then you got swelling in your arms. That swelling comes from an operation, cancer operation from the shoulder. That's "THUS SAITH THE LORD." That's true. Now, if you'll go and believe, it'll leave you. Amen.
Come, sister. O Lord God, grant the healing of this young woman as she passes through this prayer line. Amen.
Lord God, as this mother comes down along the line, I pray that You'll heal her and make her well, in the name of Jesus Christ.
Now, not only am I praying, but just look at here: There's hundreds times hundreds here visible praying, and thousands out there in radio land. It has got to happen, hasn't it? Amen. And the presence of the Lord Jesus here, our risen Lord, our Saviour, our beloved King!

Well, if He, the Son of God, got weak from one vision, what would it do to me, a sinner saved by grace?
Daniel, the prophet, saw a vision and was troubled at his head for many days.

["Yes, amen."] You're shadowed to death with a cancer. That's right. And besides that, you're a woman preacher. The truth. And you just give up your church. That's right. But don't give up your church. Don't give up hopes. Look to Jesus who stands here who knows your condition. I condemn this cancer on my sister. In the name of Jesus Christ, may it leave her. Amen.

82 This woman here's a stranger to me, are you, lady? ["Yes."] Do you believe that God can tell me what your trouble is? ["Yes."] If He will, will it help you ["Yes."] to believe? You have arthritis. ["Yes, sir."] You have trouble with your eyes. ["Yes, sir."] You got heart trouble. ["Yes, sir."] You're not from this city. ["No, sir."] You're from another city, ["Right."] another state, ["Yes, sir."] Arizona, ["Yes."] Kingston, Arizona. And you're Mrs. Holby ["Right."] on your road home. You're over your disease. Go home and be made well, in the name of Jesus Christ.
And so the audience will know, I never seen you in my life, is that right? We're totally strangers to one another, but God knows you all. He knows all about you, just believe. He knows who you are, and all about you. I challenge every person in here to believe it, anywhere.
O Lord Jesus, I pray that You'll heal this woman and make her well, in the name of the Lord Jesus.

What about the rest of you? Do you believe that Jesus Christ, God's Son, is here to make you walk, also? Do you believe that He's here to heal you? Take you out of that cot, brother, and heal you? Do you believe that with all your heart?
Now, it's your ... you're the sick person. God's here to make you well if you'll believe it. Do you believe it? Then stand on your feet, each one of you, all over the building. Lay your hands over on one another.
There's the woman out of the wheelchair and walking, that has been bound for years with arthritis, walking for her first time. There it is. Raise to your feet everybody.
There's a woman from her wheelchair, bound. Been sitting there for years bound with arthritis walking, in the name of the Lord Jesus. Stand up on your feet, and receive your healing. I pronounce you healed by the stripes and the blood of Jesus Christ.

1 Thank you, Brother Joseph. That's so nice, both Brother Joseph and you. Now, let us bow our heads just a moment for prayer.
O Lord, with such a feeling and a welcome to a church among Your people, it would be hard for me to find the right words to express my feelings. But I know that Thou can make each of them understand and know just how I thank them, and so grateful to Thee for my friendship in Chicago.
I pray, Lord, that You'll bless this convention. Just let this be a different convention than what we have had. Make it in the same manner, but greater, Lord. May there just be something that we will sit down by the side of the burning bush and listen to what He has to say to us during this time. May we wait upon Him, for we know that He is our strength and our life.

2 We thank Thee for Brother Joseph. So glad that You've ever brought him back again and give him great meetings, and for all the souls that he was instrumental in bringing to Thee, and the ministers that was help ... the great church of the living God in other lands. For we truly believe, O God, that it will not be long till we will see Him Who we've loved and longed to see. The great ransomed church of God will stand redeemed in His image. Oh, for that day when the trumpet shall sound, and the dead begins to rise, and we're caught up with them to meet the Lord in the air. We long for that great event.
Help us, Father, in the times of these meetings now as we're sitting under the shade tree, as it was, in the school. Help us to know more of Thee, so that we can go from this convention better equipped than we was when we come in. For we ask it in Jesus' name. Amen. May be seated.

It is true that I was supposed to be in the Fiji Isles at this time. But under some difficult, I had to postpone it. And then immediately I called Brother Joseph and told him that I would be able to come on to Chicago.
And as usually, so is it now: it's always a great pleasure of mine to come to Chicago. I think it's a center of the nation, and, no doubt, one of the great centers of the world.
And Chicago has needed a revival for a long time, a real awakening. And it's been the heart of great ministers to have this revival. And it's just like other cities all over the world; it's sinful and needy of a revival.

1 Thessalonians 4:15 For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent them which are asleep.

3 A few days ago, I was going down in the city. And I'm a southerner by birth, and I just like to speak to people wherever I see them. And I was taking account just of... It's customary in the south that we speak to one another, whether you know one another or not. We're human beings, and we're just traveling through the world and we like to bid each other the speed of the day: "Good morning to you," or something. When you cross that Ohio River, you find a difference right now. Just that river makes a difference.
And I was downtown, and my wife said to me, "Why're you speaking to those people? They don't speak to you. Some of them look like they could run through you."
"Well," I said, "You know, God's people is on the minority." I said, "It's, maybe, ten percent." But I said, "If I speak to everybody, then I know I will hit that ten percent somewhere."

4 But I like friends to be friendly. I like to make everybody I meet, just like I know them. I know sometimes they look at you very funny, and stand and look going down the street, wonder what's the matter with you, as if there was something wrong. There is. I've been borned again of the Spirit of God. And that kind of makes a person a little peculiar. I'm so glad that I have found that.
One night this week, the Lord willing, I want to speak on that: what it means to be borned again.
And so, we're happy to be here to join in this convention. I guess this is about three or four straight years that this convention has had me to speak: fourth year. And I'm grateful to these, my brethren, and to all you people of being so kind.

5 And now, the little church here... I usually think this. I hope that I... If I'm wrong, the Lord will forgive me. But I feel like you can have a better meeting in a church. Because in these big auditoriums and things... They're all right to seat the people. But I hope it's not a superstition, but it always seems to me there's so much wickedness goes on in them places: fights, and gamble, and whiskey. And it just becomes a place where evil spirits hang out.
And around a church, the Holy Spirit kind of sticks around. I like to get around where the Holy Spirit is. I feel more at home, you know, to be around where the Holy Spirit is, and especially wherever the church is. Of course, they bring the Holy Spirit with them. We're grateful for that.

6 Now, I don't want to weary you each night, to keep you a long time as, I know, it's kind of habit of mine. I'm so slow, it takes me a long time to say what I want to say. And I always like to tell the truth. I don't have to think about it no more, you know, 'cause I told the truth, then I don't have to trace back. If you're telling something wrong, you have to watch everything you say, because you might have to back up sometime. But if you just take your time, tell the truth, then forget about it because it's the truth and that's... If you ever have to come back, you know just what you said, because it's the truth.
My daddy told me to always do that. Said, "Take your time and tell the truth and you'll never have to backtrack." Well, that's good philosophy.

7 And so, I will try to let you out each night if... I was coming a little earlier. But I think my good friend, Brother Joseph, had called and said to be here by quarter till. And now, maybe tomorrow night, a little earlier.
And I think we ought to have one night a healing night during this time. Don't you all think so? And give away from the speaking and pray for the sick, because there's usually a bunch of sick people around these conventions. And let's say we will give Friday night for a healing service. How would you like that? All right? That'll be fine. All right, sir.
Then Saturday morning, I think I'm supposed to speak for the Christian Businessmen. That's right. It's a breakfast. And I'm always... When? Friday morning and Saturday morning is the Christian Businessmen. Well, that'll be fine. And then Sunday night, I think Brother Osborn is having his prog... or, picture... Sunday afternoon. All right. Another service... See how he tied me up there? All right. That's Sunday night then.

8 And now, we're going to read just a little bit from the Word and get right into it quickly. And remember now what we're trying to do, brother and sister, is to come to the house of God as a place of correction, a place where we sit and feed on the Word of God, and go out different.
I believe it was in Finland, coming down the road where we stopped. And there was a bunch of the little Finns had been cutting the grain. And there was a... Someone had come out to bring water for their lunch that they were eating under a tree. We stopped, and passed out a few little pamphlets, and had prayer and begun to talk about the Lord. And seventeen people received the Holy Ghost under that tree right there. Just stopping by, and just spreading a little Gospel truth to hungry hearted people.
And we trust that this convention will mean that to every person that hasn't received the Holy Ghost, that they will receive It during this time.

9 Now, I want to take for a subject tonight from the 19th chapter of I Kings and the last five letters ... or, last five words, rather, of the 9th verse.
...what hearest thou ..., Elijah?
And it wouldn't hurt us to speak to Him again in prayer as we bow our heads.
Lord, may our hearts be open tonight to hear the Word of the Lord, and may You come now and take us, and circumcise our lips, and our hearts, and our ears; and let the Holy Spirit just speak unto us the thing that He would have us to know, that we might know God, and fear God, and love God, and serve God with all that's within us; for Thou knowest our frail frame and our make-up. We would ask that You would forgive every sin that we have did. Make us honest hearted, consecrated Christians, that we might be so salty till the unbeliever would thirst to be like the church of the living God. Grant it, Lord. Speak to us now as we wait further on Thee. In Jesus' name we pray. Amen.

1 Kings 19:9 And he came thither unto a cave, and lodged there; and, behold, the word of the LORD came to him, and he said unto him, What doest thou here, Elijah?

10 It had been a red letter day for the prophet. But he was very tired. He had become that day one of the greatest prophets of the time, for he had done one of the most outstanding miracles that had been performed. And frankly, I don't believe that there was ever a time that God did His miracle just in such a way. But he was tired, and he was worn out.
And usually, when that takes place after a great something, watch for the enemy. And it was when his nerves were all upset, and he was just about to break anyhow---to a break down. It was then when Jezebel acted up.
And that's the trick of the devil. All Christians know that. Every man or woman that's ever witnessed a great experience in Christ knows how true that is.

11 Look at our Lord. After His great earthly coronation when He was baptized, and God, the Holy Spirit, come ascending out of heaven in the form of a dove and filled His tabernacle; immediately He was taken into the wilderness for forty days and was tempted of the devil.
I believe it was Paul, who after speaking of the third heaven, then immediately talked about the thorn in the flesh.
And any pastor's wife knows to watch him on Monday if he's had a big day on Sunday, because he's... You just better let him sleep, I guess, on Monday morning. Be the best thing for him to sleep it off. And that's a good thing, because that's what God let Elijah do, kind of sleep it off.

Matthew 3:16 And Jesus, when he was baptized, went up straightway out of the water: and, lo, the heavens were opened unto him, and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove, and lighting upon him:

Matthew 4:1 Then was Jesus led up of the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted of the devil.

Matthew 4:2 And when he had fasted forty days and forty nights, he was afterward an hungered.

Mark 1:10 And straightway coming up out of the water, he saw the heavens opened, and the Spirit like a dove descending upon him:

Mark 1:12 And immediately the Spirit driveth him into the wilderness.

Mark 1:13 And he was there in the wilderness forty days, tempted of Satan; and was with the wild beasts; and the angels ministered unto him.

Luke 3:22 And the Holy Ghost descended in a bodily shape like a dove upon him, and a voice came from heaven, which said, Thou art my beloved Son; in thee I am well pleased.

2 Corinthians 12:4 How that he was caught up into paradise, and heard unspeakable words, which it is not lawful for a man to utter.

2 Corinthians 12:7 And lest I should be exalted above measure through the abundance of the revelations, there was given to me a thorn in the flesh, the messenger of Satan to buffet me, lest I should be exalted above measure.

12 But it goes to show that when God's doing something, Satan is always present to block it, or to tear it down, or do what he can to interrupt it.
And he was worn out. His nerves were all on the edge, and... Just like the people today, we need a juniper tree. I've preached to tired people, nervous people; pray for nervous people. And it's a nervous, neurotic, upset world right now that we're living in. Everybody's just on the edge, as to say ... or, to speak. Like it's just any little thing so upsets them.
God's people is that way. The world is that way. We all need a juniper tree, a place to rest. I trust that this convention will be a juniper tree.

13 The insane institutions are filling up. The hospitals are filling up. And juvenile crime is on the rampage. And we're living in a terrible time. And men are trying to drink it away with whiskey, or they're trying to play it off with cards, or laugh it off with a joke. But what we need is a juniper tree, place where we can get quiet before God.
Now there's three stages of this we want to talk about: Mount Carmel, the juniper tree, and the cave.

14 The prophet's nerves were all upset, for he was just coming out from under the anointing. He had been up there for a long time, and God had been taking care of him. I like that. God had taken care of His servant; and fed him with crows, and waited for the time to come, and watered him at Cherith. But now, after the great miracle had been performed, and Elijah was coming out from under the anointing, nerves all on the edge...
Oh, how I know how to sympathize with him. My heart always bled for Elijah when I thought of ... under the anointing of the Holy Spirit to call the fire from heaven, and perform miracles. And what had upset him more than anything, that Jezebel and her crowd had ignored the miracles.
And they do it again today. When God performs miracles, it doesn't change the unbeliever; he just makes fun of it.

15 Elijah had did these things in the name of the Lord, and Jezebel had even threatened to take his life. She said, "Let me be as one of the prophets of Baalim (that he'd had killed if she didn't take his head off before the same time the next day)." It only stirs up the devil. And Elijah thought surely that wicked woman would change her opinion.
But, you know, God just calls a certain people. And Jesus said, "No man can come to me except my Father draws him first."

1 Kings 19:2 Then Jezebel sent a messenger unto Elijah, saying, So let the gods do to me, and more also, if I make not thy life as the life of one of them by to morrow about this time.

John 6:44 No man can come to me, except the Father which hath sent me draw him: and I will raise him up at the last day.

16 And we wonder sometimes when we've preached, and prayed, and fasted, and cried, and then seen the results of a revival. Then to see the wicked cities just turn their back and make fun of it. Newspapers blast it as fanaticism. Don't think it's strange, because it's happened all through the ages: Go away and say some great vulgar name about them, or call them some kind of a name that they should not be called; just something to make light of the works of God.
So the reason I say this, that men and women who believe God and has seen the working of God, and we wonder why Chicago don't have a revival, that's the answer. Chicago will never have a revival, or America will never have a revival until God sends it. And He's shook this nation with signs and wonders in miracles, and they constantly walk away from it, in the same motive that Jezebel had. "I'd cut their heads off; I'd close their churches," if they could do it. We still have constitutional rights. The law keeps these doors open now with constitutional rights.

17 But Elijah was weary, and he was feeling blue. And then Jezebel put this threat that almost throwed him into a nervous breakdown. You see, some people think that God's prophets ought to continually be bombarding away all the time. But God wants them to come aside.
You know, there's some of us eat, and eat, and never exercise; and others are over-exercised, and don't get a chance to eat. We sit in these conventions, and eat the Word of God and the goodness of God, and then go out sassy and fat, and never say nothing about it. We should go out and use that energy and those testimonies to the glory of the Lord Jesus.
You know, a lot of people think that the prophet ought to go like a rocket. If he goes like a rocket, he will soon fall like a rock, too.

18 Today I was coming up from Jeffersonville, and I was listening to the radio, that they're trying to shoot a sputnik or something, spending millions of dollars a year to try to beat Russia with the ... to get over to the moon. No wonder we're a bunch of neurotics. What business we got with the moon when we can't take care of what we got down here? We can't control this. But you see, it's all a scientific move. God's left out of the picture altogether.
Some man once before tried to build a tower to get away from the earth. And God just didn't give them any unity. And I think men today, that are trying to build these towers to get over to the moon... They're sitting yonder now with all kinds of conferences with no unity. They can't speak one another's language.
There's one language that we all ought to know, and that's the language of God: God's love for one another, a brotherhood among men. When we learn that kind of a tower ... that kind of a language, there'll be a tower let down from the heavens that'll take us all away to glory; that'll be Jacob's ladder that God will let us all climb up someday.

19 He was tired and weary, but God cared for His prophet. I think of the lovely kindness that God showed to Elijah when He took him out under the tree, and left his ... went out of his own province over into another province, and there He'd left His servant; and then run on into the jungle, way out into the wilderness to an appointed place. I believe that juniper tree was put in the ground there for that very purpose.
God laid him down under the juniper tree and put him to sleep so he could rest a little while. And then He knew he was hungry, and He woke him up. An Angel touched him. And there it was some cakes baked and laying on the coals. And he ate the cakes, and went back to sleep again. He must've been really tired. That revival and them miracles that he had performed, and the supernatural upon him, he was worn out. And then the Angel let him sleep little while, and then woke him up again, and said, "Eat some more, because that the journey is very hard."

1 Kings 19:5 And as he lay and slept under a juniper tree, behold, then an angel touched him, and said unto him, Arise and eat.

1 Kings 19:6 And he looked, and, behold, there was a cake baken on the coals, and a cruse of water at his head. And he did eat and drink, and laid him down again.

1 Kings 19:7 And the angel of the LORD came again the second time, and touched him, and said, Arise and eat; because the journey is too great for thee.

20 Oh, how that we need in this journey that we're in now to find a place of rest and to feast on the Word of God, so that it'll give us strength. Night after night, go to the room and rest, and come back the next morning fresh, and eat more, for there's a great journey and a great battle ahead for the church. I believe that we have been children long enough. God's going to turn His church into manhood now. And we've played and frolicked as children, but now we're going to have to put away childish things and take on manhood: maturity.
I believe it was Paul who said, "When I was a child, I spake as a child..." because he thought as a child. But it's time that we began to think like men and women now, for we've got to get down to business.

1 Corinthians 13:11 When I was a child, I spake as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child: but when I became a man, I put away childish things.

21 And we find the prophet next then coming to the cave. I just wonder what kind of a vitamin that was in those cakes that he eat. It kept him going in good condition for forty days. Don't you imagine the scientists of this day would like to take one of those hoe cakes and examine it down at the laboratory to find out how many chemicals was in it, and how much vitamins, that could keep a man in good strength for forty days, walking? God's still got a laboratory full of them, and they're for journeying purposes.
And when we find him now in the cave, way back pulled up in a cave... And God wanted to talk to him. And the Bible said that there was a great mighty wind went by, and then a earthquake, and then a great tearing up and a shaking. But Elijah just sat still. And after awhile, there was a still small voice spoke. And Elijah recognized that to be God. And he put the mantle over his face and walked out to meet Him.
I wonder if we, the church, hasn't listened to too much rushing winds, and thunder, and blood, and lightning until we fail to hear that still small voice. And it's time to come back to that now.

1 Kings 19:9 And he came thither unto a cave, and lodged there; and, behold, the word of the LORD came to him, and he said unto him, What doest thou here, Elijah?

1 Kings 19:10 And he said, I have been very jealous for the LORD God of hosts: for the children of Israel have forsaken thy covenant, thrown down thine altars, and slain thy prophets with the sword; and I, even I only, am left; and they seek my life, to take it away.

1 Kings 19:11 And he said, Go forth, and stand upon the mount before the LORD. And, behold, the LORD passed by, and a great and strong wind rent the mountains, and brake in pieces the rocks before the LORD; but the LORD was not in the wind: and after the wind an earthquake; but the LORD was not in the earthquake:

1 Kings 19:12 And after the earthquake a fire; but the LORD was not in the fire: and after the fire a still small voice.

1 Kings 19:13 And it was so, when Elijah heard it that he wrapped his face in his mantle, and went out, and stood in the entering in of the cave. And, behold, there came a voice unto him, and said, What doest thou here, Elijah?

22 It never struck Elijah. Elijah was one of God's eagles. He was sitting back in the cave listening to all those things go by. And yet, God was doing it, but he wanted something better. Elijah was His eagle.
I always like that song:
They that wait upon the Lord, shall renew
their strength.
They shall mount up with wings as an eagle.
And there's a certain verse in there that says something like this:
Teach me, Lord, to wait when hearts are aflame,
Let me humble my pride and call on Thy name;
Teach me not to rely on what others do,
But wait in prayer for a still small voice
from You.

23 We American people, we like big things and a lot of noise. How different. How it backfires on us. This was a little thing, small thing and quiet. You know, Americans like to colonize: big things, go with the big church. Do the big things, the biggest crowd, the one that can attract the most attention. It's just born in us to do that. But oh, how we have proven that we missed God. Where there's so much noise...
Now, I believe in noise. I certainly do. But that's not it. Elijah knew that God made the noise, but he was waiting for something else. God, let me wait.
I don't care who has the biggest revival, and who attracts the biggest crowd, or about the biggest church, or the biggest denomination. Let me wait till I hear that still small voice.
I've wondered if we haven't took up so much time being Methodist, and Baptists, and different denominations till we fail to hear that still small voice. For we can look at our churches declining, and brotherhood breaking, and the things that's taking place; and we see something's gone wrong. And yet, we've had winds, and rains, and floods, and everything else. But where is that still small voice?

24 They look for the big thing, the one who can put up the biggest tent, the one who can build the biggest church. And we Pentecostal people have gotten to such a place... And if we go to a service and everybody's not running up-and-down the isles, and speaking with tongues, and jumping over the seats, we didn't have any meeting. It would pay us to sit still till we hear something from heaven: a still small voice.
We need apostolic teaching, apostolic power. That apostolic power is not altogether noise; it's the Holy Spirit and the love of God that makes us one in Christ Jesus.
People like to colonize, make cults, form denominations. They get in there and hide their own sins. "I belong to so-and-so, and I belong to this church. It's the biggest church." I don't care how big it is; there's one thing that hides sin, and that's the blood of Jesus Christ.
We hear so much today about God being a good God. He is. But He's a God of wrath too. He's a God of judgment. He's a God of justice. His holiness requires justice. It behooves God to be just, because He's holy. He judges and condemns, the same as He blesses.

25 But today we thought because we could make a lot of noise, or make a big denomination, or do something big, big and noisy... Get out here on the street and beat a band or a drum, and a lot of people will follow it, because it's making noise.
I believe Paul referred to it one time and said, "As a sounding brass or a tinkling symbol..." If we have all these things and don't have the love of God mixed with it, it's nothing to it. Let's not leave this convention just with an ordinary Pentecostal meeting. Let's leave this convention, if it be the will of God, with so much love and divine power of the Holy Ghost in our lives, until it changes every motive that we've got, and molds it and shapes our lives into the form of Jesus Christ.
It ain't that, my brother and sister. I love the church. I love it so much till I'm jealous of it. People think I'm fighting the church. I'm not. I'm only trying to point the church to a secret that they should know. Let's not go so much for the big things, because they'll fail. You know, we look at big things. We think big things gets it done. If we can have some great fine schools... What have our schools turned out this year? Did you see where a lot of our religious schools are ready to close because of perversion, perverts---homosexuals---in our schools? What the people need today is not colonizing and great moves; we need... God wants individuals.

1 Corinthians 13:1 Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, and have not charity, I am become as sounding brass, or a tinkling cymbal.

26 Men are afraid to speak; they're afraid to take a stand. They have to have something behind them to back them up, some great denomination, or organization, or some great band. What God-called men needs is a Holy Spirit behind him to back him up. You stand alone. Today, we won't do it. We stand as a organization. We stand as a move. We stand as this, that, or the other.
But God wants men to be individuals, like Elijah was. He was the only one left so far as he knew, but he stood for the right principles. Noise and shakings didn't bother him. He waited till he heard that still small voice, then he answered.
We can have gatherings across the country. We can have great stadiums full of people. We can have all kinds of things going on. It'll never help until God speaks individually to the human heart, the only thing that'll change man. It's the only thing that'll make him wrap himself over his own face, and walk into the presence of God. The church needs it, friends. That's the kind of condition we want.

27 Someone said some time ago, said, "Brother Branham, the only thing the matter with your meetings," said, "when the Holy Ghost is anointing you and you see visions, we believe you then. But oh, that old cold formal preaching you have..." Well, if the Holy Ghost can show visions, It's the same Holy Spirit that speaks otherwise.
God will not do it. We need correction. Oh, we need to get back, sit quiet and listen until something happens within us: A voice from heaven speaks.
But we want some kind of a backing up. A man thinks because he become a minister, if he don't go up to some great organization to get them to back him up, well, he will not be able to preach.
If God called you to preach, preach if you stand alone. Preach anyhow. God spoke to you. Stand out there and preach. It's your God-given right.
I'd rather listen to a man like that, than have one that had all the D.D.'s and Ph.D.'s behind him. That's what's ruined the church today. It's went after class, and cults, and societies. Them things are all right, but it don't belong in the house of God. God wants God-sent men, anointed from heaven that's heard the story of God and been filled with His Spirit, that stands upon the convictions of his heart.

28 Look at Elijah. Look at Elisha that followed him. Look at John the Baptist in his day. Look at Paul. When all had forsaken him, he still stood because he had met God. He heard a voice speaking to him one day.
Look at John Wesley, Martin Luther, Calvin. Men who's ever done anything for God's been men who's heard God and stood on their convictions, listened and waited. Don't make any difference what the rest says, they wait till they hear God. The great revivals are going on. It seems like these rushing winds and mighty towers and all this going on; they wait. God's eagles always does, until they can hear that voice that speaks to them.

29 You know, great things don't make much noise. Did you ever think of that? Why, you know, the sun can draw ten million barrels of water with less noise than we can pump a glass full out of a pump. Great things usually move silently. Did you ever hear the planets turning around one another? No, but how great is it? Did you ever hear the day break? And yet it scatters all the darkness. And it's so silent; it don't even wake us up. But it scatters all the night.
What the Pentecostal church needs today is a day breaking, a placing of day, that when they'll stand still until God comes into their hearts, scatters the night. We think if the night's being scattered, a little darkness somewhere, we have to tear the city up. We don't have to tear the city up. "Stand still," He said, "and know that I'm God." Told Moses, ordered him to stand still, "Watch and see what I will do."
What we need, brother, we've run before the cart ... before ... the horse before the cart.

Psalm 46:10 Be still, and know that I am God: I will be exalted among the heathen, I will be exalted in the earth.

30 Like a messenger one time, run. He heard something; he took out running. But when he got there, he had nothing to say when he got there. I think that's a whole lot the matter today. We've heard a lot of going on, then we took out running. Now, we don't know what we're running about. Let's wait till we hear from God, till God speaks to the heart, and we got a message, something that that still small voice has changed every fiber of us.
If the churches, and the laymen, and the ministers, and the priests tonight would wait upon God in their cave somewhere until that happens, all denominational barriers would be broke down, and men would be brothers. Yes.
We're nervous and upset. They're still God's people. Like Elijah was God's people, but he needed a cave experience.

31 Did you ever notice, it isn't a little ripple that reflects the stars, making a lot of noise; it's the still small pool that reflects the stars. And many times, we've relied too much on the ripple. I believe the ripple's got water on it. But you know what makes it to ripple? Because it's shallow. That's true.
I remember one time, my dad and I went out into the field to get some food out of the field in a wagon. I don't know how many of you boys here was raised on a farm. But we had this old buckboard wagon of a thing, and we took out there. And every little bump we hit, it was bumpity-bump, crack, boom, bum, bum, jumping up-and-down. And it made the awfullest noise I ever heard. But we loaded it just as full of good things off the farm as we could and come right back over them same bumps, and never made a bit of noise. It was loaded.

32 What we need tonight is a loading, filled with God's divine love and power, waiting until that still small voice meets us. In this convention, let's wait till we hear His voice. That's a challenge to us. Wait till we know what we're doing. Wait till His voice speaks, and then we know which way to go. That ought to... It brings convictions to me.
Someone says, "Well, now look, Brother Branham. You see, if the crowd's running, well don't you think we ought to go with them?"
"You wait on God."
"Should I go join this church?"
"You wait on God."
"You think if they're having a big revival over here...?"
"You wait on God," see. Whatever God speaks... Wait till God speaks, then you can talk: You got a message. Oh, you could get in the water and jump around, make a lot of noise, but wait on God.

33 What dost thou hear? What do you hear all these things that's been going on? What have you heard in it? We've heard confusions; we've heard ups-and-downs; and we've organized several different organizations; we've done great things like that. But where's God in the whole thing?
We need men that's anointed, men who knows where they're standing, men who's met God face to face and talked with Him. "Ye are my witnesses, after the Holy Spirit's come upon you. The things that I do shall you do also, after the Holy Spirit's come upon you. You'll be My witnesses. These signs shall follow them that believe." We want to wait.
Jesus told them after they'd been with Him... Oh, they thought they'd been out, and rejoicing, come back, the devils was subject unto him; He said, "You're not ready yet. Go up to Jerusalem and wait till you're filled up." You make too much noise, and have all steam, and nothing; it'll go out the whistle, and you won't have any steam to roll the wheels.

Mark 16:17 And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues;

Luke 24:49 And, behold, I send the promise of my Father upon you: but tarry ye in the city of Jerusalem, until ye be endued with power from on high.

John 14:12 Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father.

Acts 1:8 But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.

34 We can testify, and jump up-and-down, and sing, and everything like that. But until God makes us in such a condition till we can recognize one another as brothers, until all malice, envy, strife and everything's gone out of us, our jumping, shouting, praising God, organizing, speaking in tongues, and healing the sick, and performing miracles, and everything else will never amount to nothing. Come back and wait in the cave till we hear the still small voice that calls us to the service of God. Oh, how we need it, how the world needs it. We need that. God will provide.

35 You say, "Well, Brother Branham, if they all go over... What about me if they all go off after this move, and they all take off after that move..." You take off after Christ. You just wait awhile.
You know, we got birds. And some of them are migratory birds. Some of them, as soon as the first little cool breeze comes, they go south just as hard as they can. But there's some of them stays here. Well, one bird will say, "You'd better come go, the worms are better down there." But somehow or another, that one that stays here, God feeds him right through the winter the same as He feeds that one down there. God always makes a way for you. That's right. And it's proven that the bird that stays home is a much healthier and hardier bird than the one that goes south.

36 We don't have to worry. You forget that there's a God. We will all stew up, think, "Oh well, if I can't do this, if I can act like this, and I can't join this..." Keep still and wait for God to speak to you. That's the thing. Say for instance...
What if a rabbit... What if he had to hop from the north woods to Florida to live. Why, he'd never make it with his little lopes along like that. Well, what if somebody'd say, "Now wait, we will get scientific about this, boy. If you stay here, there's going to be thirty foot of snow. You'll sit right down under that snow and smother."
You know, the rabbit just survives where he's at, and God makes him a pair of snowshoes in October, and he just hops right around on the top of the snow. God feeds him on top of the snow. Because something tells him, "Stay there and wait." He ain't got no shoes yet, but God will provide the shoes, if he will just wait. The snowshoe rabbit dances right around on top the ground eating fine tender buds off the top of the trees and stays home. Certainly.

37 What if the little deer ... the little deer would have to run down through Chicago, and get on this outer drive here, and take down to Florida as hard as he could. Well, he'd be in danger. God knows that. So He just makes him satisfied the way he is, and gives him two little sharp hoofs. And he digs right down through that thirty foot of snow, and eats all the moss off the ground, and gets fat as he can be through the winter, see. God takes care of him.
What if the poor old bear, clumsy as he is, what if God... What if somebody says, "What if God growed you some snowshoes, boy, what would you do with them? Why, you're so heavy, you'd mash on down anyhow." He don't worry. There's something telling him just to wait. When winter time comes, God will take care of the situation. He don't have to get jumping up and getting all flusterated and saying, "Oh, my, the birds are all going south. I'd better try." Why, he'd kill himself, or somebody'd kill him going down.

38 That's what the churches try to do, try to pattern, mock, join something, run after this, that, or the other. Wait on the Lord. He will provide for you. What do you hear? Can you hear the voice?
That bear hears the voice of God. He don't grow any snowshoes. But what does he do? Just go out and lay down, and lay there and sleep it off, all winter. Let the rest of them run around if they want to, he just takes a good winter snooze. Why? God makes a way for him. He listens. Nature speaks.

39 That mother bear is bred in October. She goes and lays down. She don't wake up any more till the middle of May. Them little cubs are born in February. What if the mother bear would say, "Now, wait a minute. My little cubs is going to be born; there'll be three months before I ever see them." The little fellows are born, just like a little rat, little bitty things, naked, like a little young rat. Well, how would these little fellows ever find a place ... and how will they be taken care of?
She don't worry about that. She knows that something speaks to her that God will take care of that. When them little rats ... fellows are born in February, in all that cold weather, down under the snow drift, something makes the little fellow stand on his feet, walk around his mother, right to the udder, and goes to nursing, and lays right there, and nurses three months. And when mammy wakes up, she says, "Good morning, children," take a little stroll, and go on.
She ain't flusterated about going down south. She ain't flusterated: she's got to have the doctor there to take care of all these children and things when they're born. She just sleeps it off. Amen. If the church could only find bear sense to wait on God...

40 General Byrd, when he was making his expedition to the South Pole. He thought that his people ... the friends that were with him should need some fresh milk. So he would take a little herd of cattle along with him, good milkers, so they could have some milk down in the frigid zone, Antarctic. So, he said, "Well, we'll take some cows." And they happened to think, "If we're changing these cows from up here in the temperate zone to down in the frigid zone, them cows will take pneumonia and die, if we drive them up in there." So, they went and made them a lot of coats, great big fur coats and put over these cows. But you know what? When they got there, they found out they didn't need it. God had growed them long hair, so they didn't need their man-made robes.
That's what the church is today. I don't care if you're cast out yonder on the street with a tin pan in your hand... If you got a tambourine in your hand, if you're a mission worker, don't want to be a Billy Graham or a Oral Roberts. Wait on the Lord. He will provide everything you have need of. Wait till you hear that still small voice. That's what we need. Wait.

41 What hearest Thou? What can you hear? What have you heard through the years? We've had miracles. We've had things that God has had men to wait. He's performed miracles. It never changed the country. They still... Sin is on the rampage worse than it ever was, and moved right into the locks of the church, and has torn it up. What did our miracles do? What did our healing campaigns? I believe in divine healing. Sure. But you can never major on a minor. Divine healing is a minor. We could never major on those things.
The church ought to be to maturity. And we've had rushing winds, and we've had all kinds of sensations. Where's the church at? Where are we at today? Still more denominations growing every day, and colonizing, and everything, and still the same men.
What we need is to wait till we hear the voice of God as individuals. Every man and woman in this convention... No matter if Jim Jones, and the rest of them that's with you, if they don't do it, you do it anyhow. You pull yourself back in a cave and wait there until God speaks to you. Don't you move. He will do it.

42 A message, if the Lord willing, He gave me at my Tabernacle a few nights ago, and when I come back from California. And I was speaking on it, on what the new birth was. And I preached up to a place, I brought myself under conviction. The next day I took off for my cave.
There's a lady who spoke to one of my associates here, Mr. Mercier, out in the camp. I'd been out with her husband, fishing. Brother Bosworth had told me a little joke. I told it to her husband. It was a simple little thing. But it ... just simple as... Said, "A little boy was standing, looking into the cradle where his little baby brother was, that had just been born a couple of days before that. And his feet was sticking up, and his little gums a hanging up like that, and he was a squallering like he was just boiling up a storm. And the little mother looked at the little fellow standing, and he said, 'Mama, did you say this baby come from heaven?'"
Said, "Yes, son."
Said, "Well, no wonder they put him out."

43 Well, that to me was just a little joke. But I told it to a man, and he goes and tells it to his wife, and his wife said, "Do you mean that Brother Branham would tell a joke?"
Well, you see, it was wrong for me to do it. Sure it was. We look over things sometimes. Paul said, "If eating meat puts a stumbling block in my brother's way, I will eat no more meat as long as the world stands."
Well, the man tried to justify it, said, "Brother Branham's meetings," says, "He gets so keyed up, and under the anointing, and seeing visions and things, till he has to relax."
She said, "But you're not Brother Branham, and you don't have that kind of a meeting."
You see, it puts a stumbling block. We have to watch what we're doing. God's going to judge us for the way we act and what we do. I don't care if we have rushing mighty winds, and we heal the sick and what-more. Jesus said, "Many will come to me that day and say, 'Have I not cast out devils in your name? Have not I done many mighty works?'" And He will say, "Depart from me, you workers of iniquity; I didn't even know you."
I don't want to stand with that group. If there's anything in my heart, I want to be as honest when I stand before God.

Matthew 7:22 Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works?

Matthew 7:23 And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.

Romans 14:21 It is good neither to eat flesh, nor to drink wine, nor any thing whereby thy brother stumbleth, or is offended, or is made weak.

1 Corinthians 8:13 Wherefore, if meat make my brother to offend, I will eat no flesh while the world standeth, lest I make my brother to offend.

44 That condemned me. Then when I was preaching... I've been under a tax investigation for my church, and for my campaign. [Gap in the audio.]... put me in a sweat box. And for nearly six months, I had to dig up my grandmother's birth record, almost, for the government. And these bootleggers and moonshiners and things get by with it, and gamblers and cigarette people, and...
And you cigarette smokers, aren't you ashamed? Did you see in the, I believe, "Readers Digest"? I may overestimate it ... or, under it, I think it's a hundred and thirty-three thousand's going to die this year from smoking cigarettes. Ninety percent of that's so-called church people. What's the matter? We've fallen somewhere.

45 I was going down the lane Sunday. And there was a preacher standing there praying on a... Down from me, there's a... They'd formed a little league, say to take the boys and give them a baseball league. And they had a preacher standing up there blessing the grounds.
When I was seventeen years old, I was a pretty active little fellow. I played shortstop, and I was playing for the Methodist church on a church league. And any boy that even played Sunday baseball could not play with the churches. And now, here stands them same preachers, blessing the place. What's happened anyhow?
Has our rushing mighty winds got us anywhere? Has our thunder, and lightning, and blood, and everything else got us anywhere? Has it made us any sweeter and humbler before God? We need to come back into the presence of God again. That's exactly right. We get so loose, and rest upon sensations and things. Let's get back to God.

46 I was condemned standing in the pulpit. I'm going to confess it right here, because it's already forgiven me. I was eating my dinner, and the phone rang. It was a private number, and we have a answering service. And the phone rang. And I wondered: it's maybe somebody that knew me. And wife went in, and she put her hand over the phone. Said, "Them government men again..."
Oh, my head felt like it was coming out of the top anyhow. I was so nervous and upset. I had to go dig up this, and dig up that, and then flusterate around like this, and go get the church, and get the deacons to do this, and the trustees to do this. I was so weary. You know what I done? I said, "Tell them I'm not in here right now." And I run out the house and went around behind the house.
When I come back in, my wife looked at me, and she's a darling. She said, "Billy, was that just exactly right?"
I said, "Sure it was. I wasn't in here, right then." You see, sometimes you act like it's the truth when it's still a lie. God don't want us to lie, or tell little white lies, or dodge around the corner. Everything's got to be right out and above board. That condemned me. I thought about it all afternoon. I started to pray for somebody. I couldn't pray for them.

47 Listen just a minute. "If our hearts condemn us not..." But if there's something in your life that condemns you, you'd better make that thing right. I don't care what in the world you... You just can't operate right. The Holy Spirit can't deal with you. When you got prejudice, and selfishness, and all those things in you, the Holy Spirit can never bless you. You might get some intellectual emotions, some work-up.
Let me just explain something to you. For instance, when a women gets married, and she's afraid that she's not going to have a baby. She won't have it. No. But let her go and adopt a baby, then she will have one. Now, the books claim that that's nine out of ten will do that. Why? It sets your body into the right emotions. Now, you see if... Ask your doctor if that's not right. Why? It puts her in the right attitude.

1 John 3:20 For if our heart condemn us, God is greater than our heart, and knoweth all things.

1 John 3:21 Beloved, if our heart condemn us not, then have we confidence toward God.

48 Job said, "The things that I feared worse is come upon me." See, you want to be above everything, where there's no condemnation or nothing to you. You got to live like real Christians. Live in the presence of God. Live daily, hourly, momently. Say nothing, do nothing, go nowhere. Let it be Christ-like, everything you do, all your actions. God requires us absolutely abstain from all things of the world---separation. The world wants mixers.
They'll go down on the beach and bathe, or have a card party in the basement, bunco in the church. Let me tell you, God wants separators who'll separate men and women from sin. Listen, it condemned me.

Job 3:25 For the thing which I greatly feared is come upon me, and that which I was afraid of is come unto me.

49 Let me show you something. Say for instance, at this time... It's right now, quarter till ten by my time. What if Joseph here, which I know, he would not, but a week from today would be ... he wasn't a Christian, and he wanted to defend a friend of his. And so he tried to say that he was in Philadelphia at this time, on Tuesday night of the eighth, or tenth, or whatever this is: ninth. Ninth of June at quarter of ten he was in Philadelphia, 'cause he has to defend that friend. All right, they take his word for it. He say, "I solemnly swear."
See, he can say that intellectually. But way down in his soul, he knows it's wrong. So they bring him to trial. And they say, "Mr. Boze, do you solemnly swear that you was at Philadelphia at a certain-certain place on Tuesday night, June the ninth, 1959?"
"I solemnly swear that I was right here with my friend, right here at a certain-certain place."
Said, "Go get the lie detector, fasten it across his wrists." Say, "Mr. Boze, will you hold your hands and swear to that?"
He say, "Now, I've got to make it look right." He can put a big face on. "Yes, sir, my most precious friends. I solemnly here swear, that I was a certain-certain place up here in Philadelphia on that night."
That lie detector's saying, "He's telling a lie." Why? Intellectually, he's trying to make it look right; he's speaking it right. But his heart says "No." That's his soul. That's where God lives.
Man wasn't made to tell a lie. Man was made to tell the truth. And if you can't go back in old prejudice and selfishness, and how do you expect God to ever answer prayer? Oh, you can speak with tongues, and jump over the seats, and shout, and beat the tambourine, and talk about your neighbor out there. Don't you expect God to ever answer prayer for you. Oh, yes that's right.

50 So, when I started to pray for a sick baby, I went to lay my hands on it, and the Holy Spirit said, "What about you wasn't in the house?" You see, if there's a vibration... If something by laying on of hands... If you're not right with God, and there's some condemnation there, you just know in your own heart God's not going to answer you. Now, that's the truth, my brethren.
Well, I was so condemned, I didn't want no more of it. I just closed the door, and went up to my cave. All of you know I have a cave. And I stayed there in that cave. I prayed; I cried. I said, "God, there's sick people comes. I'm sorry I said that. Not only did I lie, but I caused my wife to lie. She said that I wasn't in there. She wouldn't have said it for nothing, if I hadn't of told her to do it." And I was all flusterated.
We don't need to be flusterated about anything. God's with us, who can be against us? You don't have anything to put in the dark, anything to be shady. Stand out and be truthful.

51 And if you know that you ought to be borned again, and filled with the Holy Ghost, and have an experience like they had on the day of Pentecost, and you let some church creed hide you behind something that you know is the truth, don't you expect God to ever answer your prayer. He won't do it. That's right.
"My church don't speak, and my church don't..." I don't care what the church believes; it's what God said. You know that you've got to be borned again, you've got to be Christ-like. And if you haven't met that experience yet, and all condemnation of the world and things gone from you, you get back to the cave or under the juniper tree right quick, and into the cave just as hard as you can go, and listen and see what you can hear. You'll hear something more than a rushing wind. You'll hear something more than a sensation, or a divine healing, or a blood, and fire, and smoke, or ever what they have, all these things going on, or a big church, or join this, or cult or something to join in, or some great organization; You'll hear a voice that speaks to you. You hear God come down to that soul and make you confess everything, and go make it right.

52 I want to tell you what happened, in closing. I've never said what happened. I don't want to say it. I won't say it, 'cause Satan can't get it as long as it's in my heart. God lives there. But if I speak it, he will hear it, and he will block every road. That's been my trouble. I've loved people so much till I always just tell everything and let it go out. But this time, I'm keeping it. Now, you don't know nothing about it. It'll happen first, then you'll see it.
And I'd been back there praying. I said, "God, I'm not even worthy to be Your servant. Me, stand out there with a man that I love, and tell him a joke that would put a stumbling block in his way. And yet, I'm against joking. Those little things, I thought... I was just relaxing myself. We were fishing. I said, "You know what Brother Bosworth told me?" I told him that little joke. See, it carried right back. Why? God was fixing me ready right then to get that stuff out of me.
You have to be, if you're going to pray for the sick and lay your hands on. And if a lie detector will detect and make you tell the truth---because it'll say that you're lying if you are lying---what good does it do you to put hands on the sick and ask for healing? You got to be honest, friends. That's right.

53 I'm ashamed to say it before the church, but I did it. And then when God forgive me... I'd been in there crying for a little while. Walked right ... an old cave, all my furniture in there. I never put any of it in there, I just found the cave. Federal agents would never find me there. No, they'd have to go up creeks, and through hollows, and over branches; they'd never find it. You have to come down a tree, go down a tree, it was under the roots, and go back into the cave like that. And in there's a altar, a rail, a cross made out of stone, a big slab. How it ever got cut out, I can't tell you. And two pieces laying out here to make the cross, a place for me to lay down, a hollow in the rock like this. Just as perfect as it can be. I go back in there to pray.
And then after my sins, I knew were forgiven me, I went outside. I always... As you come into the cleft in the cave, there's a great big rock, almost half as big... Oh, it's twice to three times the size of that, about high as that piano there. And I stand on that rock, and I always look to the east. It's a great mountain country like this. And I looked to the east, and stand there on this rock right before my cave, and worship the Lord.

54 Oh, I just worship Him until I weep. It was three o'clock in the afternoon. I was standing out there, and I said, "God, You forgive me. I don't care if it cost my life." I said, "You forgive her. I was the cause of her saying it, Lord. She wouldn't have said it. But I oughtn't to have said that. I should live better than that, going out here praying for Your sick children, laying hands on them. You condemned me, and I knowed You wasn't going to answer me, till that sin was confessed and made right."
And I called up the man, made it right. I said, "I lied. Had my wife to. You forgive me for it. My wife said I..."
"It's all right, Reverend Branham. I guess you're so tore up."
I said, "My head felt like it was coming off. But that doesn't make any difference. It don't give me room to lie. I should tell the truth, regardless of how much it hurts."

55 Then what? I stood there and I was weeping. And something said like this. I said, "Lord, one time Moses wanted to know what You looked like. And You took him over to a cleft in the rock, and You hid him there. And when You passed by, Moses said it looked like the back of a man."
The foliage is real heavy. The sun was going down across behind me like this, and looking toward the east. I had my hands up, just as still as it could be. I happened to notice there in the bushes, there's a little wind begin to blow. It moved down through the bushes, and passed right by the cave by me, went on down along the side. I will never forget it as long as I live.
Oh, God, let me stand still. Hide me in the cleft of the rock, Lord. I want to hear that still small voice.

56 When I knowed I was forgiven, I seen them leaves move, and that little wind, not a wind blowing anywhere, just that little wind, like I heard when I was a little boy in the bushes. That wind come right down, to one side and went, just blowing along real softly, passed right by where I was at like this. I could hear the leaves moving, passed right by the side of the cave, went on down. What's it mean to me? It's that same wind back yonder when I was seven years old, packing water for that moonshine still. It met me up there in that bush that day, it blowed in that bush and said, "Don't you never smoke, drink, or defile your body in any way. There's a work for you to do when you get older."

57 Brother, what do you hear in all this? You hear a lot of noise to make an organization? Do you want to wear an ecclesiastical coat? Or do you want to wait for that still small voice that'll grow and make you what you ought to be, make you a real Christian? Think of it. What hearest thou, Elijah? What hearest thou, Chicago? Let's wait for the still small voice in this convention.
Let us bow our heads now just a moment. I wonder if the members of the body of Christ that's in here tonight... Now, stop a minute and think. You church members, you people who are members of the body of Christ, regardless of what church you go to... That has nothing to do with it, 'cause there's corruption in all of them, just like there is in the cities. But how many would like to say, "God, for me, during the time of this convention, I want to pull my soul back in the cleft of the rock. I'm going to wait there till I hear a still small voice that'll anoint me, and make me a real witness for You, that'll give me such love, such a birth..."
Now, with every head bowed and all eyes closed, this is laity and church members, would you raise your hand, and say, "God, remember me. Put me in the cleft, and speak to me in a still small voice. I've heard the rushing winds; I've heard the thunders, the lightnings, but I want to hear a still small voice that'll anoint me and will send me to my post of duty a different person." God bless you. There's ninety percent of this audience with their hands up.

58 Let us pray. O Lord, here they are. Forgive me, Lord; I didn't mean to say it like that. Here we are, Lord. Just as true as I'm standing here, God, I believe that You're calling Your church into a cave now to speak to them. And Lord, it doesn't altogether have to be a made cave, like the prophet hid in; but it can be a little cave in our memory; it can be a cave in our soul where we can move back, stop, and take inventory, look around, and then listen to see what we can hear. And we've heard the wind, and we are grateful for it. We've heard the rushing winds; and we've heard the roaring revivals; and we've seen the miracles of Mount Carmel; and we've seen the defeat. And Lord, we are tired tonight. We're nervous. We need You. We're laying here under the juniper tree. Feed us with Thy truth, Lord: Thy Word is the truth. Then take us from here, this moment, Lord, to the cave, and let us hide there in the cleft of the rock, until we hear that still small voice.
And may this convention not altogether break in a great shout and a jubilee, but may it break up into an experience, into a sobbing, and a repenting, and a revival spirit in men's hearts that revives them, that brings them back to God again, unto that sweet humble experience like the night that we were saved, Lord.

59 We confess our sins. We're honest. We confess it before God and before men. Lord, when I think of what I said to my wife there, "Tell them I'm not home; I'm outside right now. I'm not here just at this time." Lord, it condemned me. But You forgave me for it, and I know better now.
Oh, sweeten our lives, Lord. Pour in the oil and the balm of Gilead, and the anointment, Lord, and anoint our souls with Thy goodness and Thy mercy, that we can hear God speak again to us. Grant it, Lord.
To every one that's here, and to others around the nation: we have seen, Lord, that the thunder, and the wind, and the earthquakes, it hasn't brought the results, Lord. They're still wanting to make more denominations, and break up, and colonize, and separate men from one another. God, let us stand still till we hear the voice of God, that melts our souls one with the other. Grant it, Lord. Hear us, and forgive us, and give us that Spirit, that we might live by day by day.

60 Heal the sickness in our midst, Lord. Those that are here, that's not feeling well, Father, we pray that they'll not even have to wait till the healing service on Friday night, but may they right now, in that sweetness, and back in the cleft, they're hearing the voice of God speak, "I'm the Lord that healeth all of thy diseases." And it will not be, then, running through prayer lines, different places, and evangelists laying hands on them, but it'll be an experience that they'll always rem... They'll know that something has happened. Grant it, Father.
But above all things, forgive us of our trespasses. We want to stand blameless on that day. For we ask this in Jesus' name, and for His sake. Amen.

Exodus 15:26 And said, If thou wilt diligently hearken to the voice of the LORD thy God, and wilt do that which is right in his sight, and wilt give ear to his commandments, and keep all his statutes, I will put none of these diseases upon thee, which I have brought upon the Egyptians: for I am the LORD that healeth thee.

Psalm 103:3 Who forgiveth all thine iniquities; who healeth all thy diseases;

61 Could you play that hymn for me? "To Be Like Jesus." Do you hear...? "To be like Jesus, On earth I long to be like Him." Do you know it? Is that what you want to be like? Sure you do. How many knows the song? All right. Let's sing it now in a worship, "To Be Like Jesus." That's my desire. I want His Spirit. It's something... You can't clean your spots, no more than a leopard can lick his spots clean. You can't do it. Let's just worship Him, and tell Him to take all consciousness of sin away, all unbelief, and establish that something in us that we know where we're standing; there's no sin in our way. And God answers prayer, and we know that's the truth. But if our hearts condemn us, then God won't hear us. If there's any condemnation, take it away, God.
Let's sing now, if you could help me. Give us a chord. If you don't know it. All right. I will tell you one then we can sing, a good old song of some sort. I just feel that the Spirit wants us to worship Him in singing at this time. You feel that way? Would just love to sing something to the Lord Jesus, something, and make Him...

62 You know, it's singing. You know, the prophet said... He was all disturbed, Elijah was. And he said, "If it wasn't I respected the presence of Jehoshaphat, I wouldn't even look at you. But nevertheless, bring me a minstrel." And he begin to sing, and play that instruments. And when he did, then Spirit of God come on the prophet. You remember the story, or don't you?
Oh, how wonderful it is to be like Him. How many knows the old song, "Room, Room, There's Room At The Fountain For Me?" How many knows that one? You know that, sister? That's one? Huh? What say? You know it?
Now, now, you can have all the little songs that you want to, the little jubilees. Them are fine. But for me, take me back to these. I believe when he picked up the pen, and begin to strike it across...

2 Kings 3:14 And Elisha said, As the LORD of hosts liveth, before whom I stand, surely, were it not that I regard the presence of Jehoshaphat the king of Judah, I would not look toward thee, nor see thee.

2 Kings 3:15 But now bring me a minstrel. And it came to pass, when the minstrel played, that the hand of the LORD came upon him.

63 How many knows that old song, "Nearer My God To Thee." That's an old timer. I love that too. Give us a chord on that, sister, "Nearer My God To Thee."
You say, "That's a funeral." We need one. That's right. I want all the sins that's in me, that's alive, to be dead. Don't you? Till you can get that place broke up, you'll never be molded good. Oh, how wonderful that song is.

64 O Lord, we love You, Father. God, forgive us, Lord. One of these days, Lord, if You tarry, we will be coming down the aisles here, different ones, creaking the casket. Oh, forgive us now, Lord, of our shortcomings. We worship You. We're just as children, Lord, worshipping in the Spirit. Let that little breeze, that wind that God was in in front of the cave that day, that I just spoke of, let It pass through every heart here, Lord. May a still small voice speak. I don't know your opinion. Each fellow has his opinion. But to me, this is when Christ comes, that sweet, humble feeling. To me, that's the still small voice that speaks a lot louder than the rushing mighty wind. Honestly in your heart, do you believe that's true? Certainly it is.
